After some fiddling with the carbs, adjusting them just by the feeling alone (still don't have a syncronizing tool) it finally can move gravel:

It never did that before with the standard carb and exhaust, but now it had no trouble with it. After the proper adjusting with tools and shit, it may actually spin the wheels on tarmac too.
Perhaps the closest I came to a stressful experience like that with a manual was when I truly first got to drive one. Was checking out a B7 gen Audi A4, and gave it a try in a parking lot. Really wasn't getting the hang of it like I expected, but when I finally did muster up some confidence, I tried jumping right in to driving down the road to the used dealer. Of course, as soon as I had to turn in to the road, I stalled, and with 3-4 people behind me, I became very flustered. Couldn't even think straight enough to pull the e-brake or anything. Just sort of got out with the car very slowly rolling back and my dad switching seats frantically.
When I got my Miata, thinks went a bit smoother since the clutch is easier, but it still took a few weeks. But yeah, never really had super emotional driving lessons. I suppose I recall slightly more stressful driver's ed lessons, such as going on the highway for the first time, but nothing what you've described.
If you can figure out a way to communicate your confusion or frustration in a way that the instructor doesn't just make things feel worse, perhaps you won't feel so emotional. I mean it's alright to feel embarrassed though. It is very much part of the process. Knowing in your mind what to do but yet physically still not quite doing so is always annoying, but realize sooner than you think shifting should become easier for you.
drivers tests are notoriously hard here where I live and you have to put loads of money and time queuing up for the test so it's rather stressful and I've never driven before
roads are really narrow too and you can't practice at an empty parking lot so it's more about precision and stability than shifting correctly, I mean I've never stalled beside the time my instructor did it intentionally to show me how to start the engine
I was driving a newer model hiace and this is my route i did lap in case you're wondering
its my first time shifting into the 3rd gear and i'm not sure what's the technique is called but basically I was practicing how to downshift and using the gear to slow down by easing the clutch before I throttle on the lowered gear so I wouldn't rock the whole car
another part I had real trouble is using not enough turns on the steering wheel on that ~100° 'gambon' corner and going out of my 'lane'

Oh shit I expected you to be driving like a typical sedan or something less big, not a big ass van :v. Definitely would stress me out too, big cars have always been awkward to drive for me. Not the most ideal vehicle to be learning in, I'll tell you that!
Your route link doesn't work by the way, something to do with permissions. I'll send a "permissions request" for the hell of it.
Also, what you did downshifting like you did is called [using] engine braking. The very basics of it is that the engine is slowing the speed of the wheels so that they match, requiring little or no use of the actual brakes in many situations, unless coming to a full stop.
huh, try again https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=10s1sI5xNDscYgJgmTYEn-9VR7Ig&usp=sharing

i mean my driving instructor isn't strict in a bad way, i do pick up my mistake relatively quickly but its just that i don't know what i did right with his teaching method

another thing that made me stressful is that its a really rich neighborhood and its either crashing into a porsche or a ferrari :V
This pops up THE DAY AFTER I throw a grand at my volvo.

:speechless:
how the fuck
Visited my mom, she lives across the country. So I had the opportunity to go to a tiny island called Rømø, which has this enormous beach where cars are allowed to drive.
So I gave it a go with some sand-sliding!

BBQ overclocking
Just throw more boost at it, I'm sure it'll solve the problems.
What happens when you boost on stock internals!
I used to have that grill but it rusted out

We had a similar grill that coincidentally had issues with the propane delivery. Didnt explode. Just sucked at being a grill.
How do I read this measurement of my Passat's radio?
[T]http://i.imgur.com/dZlUs6l.jpg[/t]
I thought it went 2", 2.5", or 3", but this is like 2.25" (the tape is flush w the plate). Are all car radios not universal? I don't want to bring the car to a garage to do something as simple as replace a radio, but idk how to measure it.
it should just take a regular old din radio.
it should just take a regular old din radio.
Yeah? I thought the whole point if single din, half din, etc was standardized faceplate heights? Like these two radios on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01463W1IU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1460347626&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=single+din+fm&dpPl=1&dpID=41AY36GKw9L&ref=plSrch
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00PT8SMIU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1460347626&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=single+din+fm&dpPl=1&dpID=41s0rAWDg1L&ref=plSrch#featureBulletsAndDetailBullets_secondary_view_div_1460347638927
First is 4.1", second is 2"?
2 inches is din and 4 inches is double din. you can replace the radio and that little cubby with a double din if you like
Amazon calls that single din :why:
[editline]10th April 2016[/editline]
And my faceplate isn't 2", it's 2.25"
I promise I'm not stupid, I just don't understand why this isn't as simple as I'd thought
I just looked at a picture and it is single din, the 4.1 inch measurement is measuring the box or something, not the product
So as long as I can get the original radio out, all single din will fit that slot?
Like, someone asked "will this fit my 2002 Jetta" and someone responded
You will need to order the 2002 jetta console with harness and order the single deck one. I had to do this for my 2001 escort zx2. It's a really nice stereo. Good luck.
....which flies in the face of my expectations of universal fit. Idk what that means.
Dont get caught up in the details of inches. Trust the DIN/DDIN. If you buy from a trusted dealer (I used Crutchfield) they will make sure things will fit.

OK, thank you guys again.

Jesus, so that's what happens when a brake caliper stops floating. Pads are ruined, rotor is ruined, and one of the slide pins feels like it's welded to the caliper. Hopefully getting some penetrating oil in there frees it up but I don't even know if I can salvage it then.
If you manage to remove it, lightly sand it down with some 1000 grit or so. Then sand the inside of the guide pin slots as well, then grease liberally. It'll be fine. Just gotta get the corrosion off.

Even better ask a trusted Clutch :v:
Any DIN sized radio will cage mount in your Passat using the trim ring provided, leaving the pocket below.
And DDIN sized radio will fit using this dash kit;
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-95-9012-Installation-1999-2006-Volkswagen/dp/B002U5UD8C
Just stay away from weird junk-brand stuff like China-vision and BoSS and stuff, they have wonky sizes that ARENT universal.
That Pioneer and that JVC you posted were both DIN sizes and will slide right in with their cage, cake work.
it's not usually a lever to engage 4 wheel drive though, at least not on anything modern enough that nobody has ever called it a traction engine
Jeep Liberty had a small lever next to the center console to select 2WD/4WD/HI/LO
My coolant leak was a bit worse than I would have liked today, I think it was coming from the water pump. $75 fix, +coolant cost, but at a bad time. Can't afford it right now.
Ladies and gentlemen, my 40 dollar paint job is complete. Would be around 120 if I didn't have the equipment already though.
Seems like the engine handled the loss of oil too.

Faceplates are slightly larger than the DIN standard I think, but your new stereo should come with a plastic ring to make up for that difference.
