If you do sand them, wet sand with 800 to 1000 grit and then buff them with buffing compound. You can clear them after, but try and do 2 thinish coats so it won't peel later down the line. Practice this alot first on something you care not for and do it on medium-low speed, just to get the hang of it if you've never done it before, you don't want to fuck up your headlights with a $200 "oops". Buff it too fast and it'll heat the plastic and warp/melt/fog/haze it. Most people prefer to use this kinda setup. ignore the bottle. [t]http://codemonkeycrew.com/Portals/7/ArticleImages/2010_a/Headlights/Headlight_8.JPG[/t]
I would definitely not stop at 1000 grit. I would move on to 2000, then 3000, maybe even 5000, and then start polishing.
Any recommendations for a dual action polisher? [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] Budget is around $120
I know your looking for a dual action... But personnaly I've never used nothing but this orbital and I love it.
I just use one of those ones that are meant to fit in a drill chuck. I stick it in my die grinder for shits and giggles though
I just use one of those ones that are meant to fit in a drill chuck. [editline]17th April 2016[/editline] Questionnaire!!!! What vehicle modification makes you hard as diamonds? For me its a 6bt dually swapped suburban. Anything with carbon fiber. Or proper roll cage/bar and racing seat installation.
What vehicle modification makes you hard as diamonds?
Discreet/OEM-looking yet functional and practical enhancements in general. I'm the "no fun allowed" police among ricers, but I see it as a challenge to keep it on the down-low and sleek.
Questionnaire!!!! What vehicle modification makes you hard as diamonds?
rocketbunny bodykits, illest stickers, stretched tyres, anime vinyl wraps, scaffolding rear wing, rwb porsches
FUCK While I waited a month for my paint touch-ups to fully cure I forgot to pre-buff the areas before I waxed again. Now there's ugly hazy white spots that will be on my hood until I can get a buffer for the grinder.
big meaty sidewalls do it for me. also general grabbers are a super attractive tire [editline]17th April 2016[/editline] also matte light blue paint
Muscle cars with lift kits and big offroad tires
And cummins decals?
cummin for a cummins
So I test drove this old lady's 1997 Pontiac Grand Am. I made the mistake of turning the AC on to max. My dad and I got blasted with dust, dirt and the smell of shit. :c The AC wasn't even cold.
cummin for a cummins
I just hate how they weigh soooooo much. Need a 3/4 ton and completely ruins the GVWR of the front axle.
It's mid April and I'm already reminded of how shitty it is to not have AC. I need to get off my ass and start test driving cars. Money isn't even an issue at this point, I just have to get off my ass and put up with the stress of dealing with salesmen and trying to decide where to throw 25 to 30 thousand dollars.
I'm still on the fence whether or not to just remove my Miata AC to save the supposed 40lbs for some weight reduction. I already save about 25lbs riding around without the spare :v:. Not sure what needs fixing or what it might cost, but I don't imagine it would break the bank. The cabin does get hella hot sometimes, but after learning to adapt to the Kia Optima without AC, I realized I can do just fine without it. It's not a super pleasure, but keeping my windows down and parking in the shade make the difference I need. Plus, my work car amazingly has pretty great AC, considering how shitty the company is at maintaining the shitboxes we drive and how much everyone abuses them. I'd love to finish up my CF hardtop and sorta keep it on there as well, so the comfort of converting would be null. I even want to completely take the softtop out just to again, save some weight (about 45-50lbs). Most people though seem to like keeping them in. It's not like removing and putting it back in is as easy as converting it...
There was a Miata on Craigslist for 400 dollars that supposedly only needed tires and a water pump. Unfortunately I was retarded and didn't call the seller right away. Oh well.
There was a Miata on Craigslist for 400 dollars that supposedly only needed tires and a water pump. Unfortunately I was retarded and didn't call the seller right away. Oh well.
Psssshhhh sounds too good to be true. Minimum I can imagine spending on a less then stellar Miata is $1500-$2000. Right now all the CL listings have them for at least $3000, so I don't know if prices are going up or what. Better examples are in $5000 range. Also, in my quick search, look at this pretty Widebody 82 RX7. 7867 miles. Bet they didn't redline it often or really ever. Of course, seems like they are asking a bit high, and the car needs some work. AND WHEN IT'S IN ALL CAPS, YOU KNOW THERE AIN'T BE NO HIGH BALLIN HERE KIIID. WTF read read this thread. Pics show SAME EXACT CL description, same car, etc. From 2010. in LA. Seems extremely fishy now.
What are your favorite racing sims? I really liked the F1 series, but havent played that in 6 years now. Heard project cars is really good. Any truth to that?

Assetto Corsa. [editline]18th April 2016[/editline] Also BeamNG for the damage
Favorite vehicle mod? Probably a really good exhaust, how a vehicle sounds can make or break it for me

guys I'm looking for a mechanic to look over a car I want to buy tomorrow -- place A: $69, "we'd look over the car like we're buying it for ourselves," road test, no compression test (car's a 97 so he said it would throw a code for low compression) place B: FREE, "we'd measure the tires, brakes, check for leaks, check/read any codes," no compression test, takes 30 minutes -- is this true about OBDII knowing about low compression, how much better could A really be than B, and who would you go with (assuming you're like me and not a car genius)?
What are your favorite racing sims? I really liked the F1 series, but havent played that in 6 years now. Heard project cars is really good. Any truth to that?
Definitely Assetto Corsa, and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Guys, I just had the fucking coolest thing happen to me. I went to the Dodge dealership so I could get my foglights activated on my 2012 Challenger SXT, and I had to wait for about an hour. So I went and looked at other cars that they had in their showroom and I saw this guy waiting in there: A fucking Hellcat. One of the people there moved the car to the end of the room so they could do some work on a wall, so it could be out of the way. I asked one of the people there if I could sit in it, and hey told me "sure, that's why it's here!" and I was just blown away by how much dodge put into this car. People were taking pictures of it and whatnot and I asked them if I could have it as my birthday gift, since it is my birthday. They told me no, but they said I could drive it back over to the parking space. I was so moist when I turned it on... the whole fucking room was shaking. The clutch was actually really nice on it. A lot shorter than I thought... overall, it was a fantastic birthday. Probably be the only time I'll ever get to drive one of those things.
Welp, looks like you'll be running for office.
Checking out a Suzuki Jimny 2013 tomorrow, anybody have any experience with it?
