On my way back from a short trip, the Vic decided to do the famous Ford Modular Motor issue of ejecting sparkplugs... Luckily I was able to pull into a small gas station and someone there had a 5/8 deep socket to very carefully screw the plug back in to the head so that I could just unplug the coil and fuel injector and baby it home about 100 miles. That was a very long drive and I probably pissed a lot of people off because I didn't want to push the car hard :disappoint:
You know guys. At first, I really wouldn't call myself a mechanic. I knew how to keep my own car running and the hardest thing I've done was a few engine swaps and two head gaskets. But after today...I think after the task I finished today, I can safely call myself a mechanic, hell. Even an engineer
So I just put in some footwell LEDs: Passenger, Driver side [t]http://i.imgur.com/6WKEeYS.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/0VYznt5.jpg[/t] Unfortinately, when installing a dimming knob, the drill popped out and rode the dash and this happened: [t]http://i.imgur.com/00QRYpw.jpg[/t] I tried heating the area with a lighter then blending it, which helped a lot, but obviously it's still quite visible. Any detailers know how to remove those dashboard scratches?
footwell lights are rice as hell dude to get scratches out of plastic I usually just heat the area. it makes the ragged edges smooth and so the scratch is less visible. there's a fine line between heated and melted though
So having this odd issue... When I accelerate, my car pulls to the left. When I let off the gas, it goes back...but kind of overcompensates a bit. Happens most noticeably when I am doing over 40mph. Is this an alignment issue?
Alignment, probably not. Usually that's your tierods being so sloppy they can not longer control the steering, if you've been having extremely bad tire wear for a while you found your problem. It could also be a bad axle causing extreme amounts of torque steer. Jack your car up, then do the whole check for play at 9-3 and 12-6. Push and pull until you can find which parts are causing your play, it could be worn out parts or even your inner tierod backing out of the rack.

I loled. Remember don't stick it in all at once. Gotta stench it open alittle. Start off small and work your way up to prevent thongs like that to happen. Also stepper bits are cool.
I asked Serj about this a while ago and he helped quite a bit, but I still can't find this fabric for the fucking life of me. [t]http://i.imgur.com/AUM53Rq.jpg[/t] If any of you know it/know someone who knows it, I'd really love to get this seat finished.

I still think it's perforated vinyl. It's the right era.
Don't get 3M panel bond in your hair.

God damn is this thing PIMP!! In other news, put the 440 back in the duster, got everything lined up and fuckin' bang on so it doesn't hit, bolt up the trans, headers, starter, go to do the flexplate and converter..... and the flexplate is too small. I damn well nearly lit my car on fire yesterday So I'll pull my trans back a little and see if I can change the flexplate while its still in the car

I tried, the gif is too big so I wouldnt bother with that either. I wonder if he was running regular lugs? As per SFI and IHRA rules you have to run 3.5" long (around there) ARP wheel studs or equivalent strength. I had to pick some up, i'll post them tomorrow after i put them in, they're like $50 but thats $50 you dont want to skimp on

I only see about two frames of movement in both links?
I still think it's perforated vinyl. It's the right era.
I'm pretty sure the perforated stuff is the smooth stuff but just full of holes, but I can't find the smooth stuff either. From the cross section it looks a lot like a rubber coated fabric
Just smacked my car for the first time going through those speed measure poles? [t]https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xta1/v/t34.0-12/13081931_1191083167570503_1871206947_n.jpg?oh=9a834c910d8a780404ca0a35878f9931&oe=57215525[/t] Any idea of what my best plan of action is? The car cost me £1500 and I got quoted £500 to repair that dent (It's a wing and bumper repair) but I don't want to pay 1/3rd of the price of a car to get a minor fix
So, don't then? A £1500 car isn't gonna be perfect, and with the damage being that tiny, I wouldn't bother.

if it really bothers you take a ball peen to it and pound it out, run some bondo over the area if necessary, and repaint the area
So, don't then? A £1500 car isn't gonna be perfect, and with the damage being that tiny, I wouldn't bother.
My dad is like "It's not about the damage or the cost! It's about how you value your possessions!" But he's got plenty more money than me. I've had a look online. I'm going to Barbados for three weeks so I won't be able to do anything for a while anyway. I'll park it in the garage to slow down rusting. My plan for now is to just take it off, bash it out and repaint it. If I can't bash it out I can get a replacement wing for like £112 online and a bumper for like £50 and paint them
depending if the car is common enough, you might find a local breaker which might have a replacement bumper and panel already in the right paint, since thats the bit that can get expensive. they are difficult to replace either [editline]26th April 2016[/editline] or even ebay
Went to start my diesel two days ago, the lines were full of air. Didn't have time to troubleshoot why and bleed it, so I took the Subaru to work. Last night when getting off work at 1am, basically every light other than the headlights and dome light wouldn't work. Brake lights, driving lights, clearance lights, etc. were out. Did quick troubleshooting in the parking lot, narrowed it down to a fuse that was melted into the fuse box, but couldn't get it out of the box with pliers or my actual fuse puller. Ended up dropping off my co-worker and driving home the 30 miles with my hazards on. Once home, I was able to take my time and work the fuse out. The fuse itself melted, the fuse box melted a little. As far as I can figure; the fuse looked like it had a lot of oxidation on the contacts and was pretty old. It was a 20A fuse, fairly high to begin with. With the extra resistence from the oxidation, I think it just heated up.

Throwing money at it isn't valuing it more, it's practically throwing money away. Bash it out and learn from this, like my dad always said, the first scratch is the worst.
