https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1517325 Mod is looking to raise 10k for a new vehicle (holy shit) -- Y'all should drop some wisdom in that thread on cheap, reliable, used vehicle
i regret getting a white car i feel like i can see everything
idk if he can weld but if so 2 engines single carb would be easier.
I cant hold a candle to the pro fabricators it this thread, but I can make object A stick to object B in roughly the correct orientation. [editline]3rd May 2016[/editline] actually today I was working on my weed whacker bike project, and I accidentally left the grounding clamp on the jackshaft. The $12 bearings are fine though. Just breaking them in a little faster. [editline]3rd May 2016[/editline] And I think 2 7hp motors on something that weighs probably less than 100 lbs and made of plastic tubing is a little more than what I want. [editline]3rd May 2016[/editline] fuck it, 2 of those 22hp predator v-twins. if the torque doesnt twist the spokes its not enough.
How significant are the differences in lubricants for power steering fluid? My car calls for Dextron II or III automatic transmission fluid for the power steering system. However, Dextron 2 and 3 seem to be about as rare as unicorn blood because it appears that only O'Reilly's stocks it; everyone else only stocks Dextron IV and beyond. Would it make any difference if I use Dextron IV, V, or VI? Or the generic "Power steering fluid" that all stores stock?
If I remember right; 4 covers 2&3, but 5 is something all on its own and cannot be used in anything that calls for 1-4. As long as you avoid 5+, you should be fine.
bit weird question: tall fuckers in cars without height adjustable seats, what do you do with the rear view mirror blind spot/possible inability to see the traffic lights without sagging in seat i've just been kinda drooping in my seat a bit when it becomes an issue

Woke up on my day off and could barley move from a long day yesterday.. then sucked it up and put 11 hours into the Audi. Reassembling things I took apart 3 weeks ago is great. Also trying to fit up the front mount intercooler while putting the front bumper on.. I gave up because I was tired and almost certain to scratch the shit out of the front fenders taking the bumper on/off to test fit it. A few hours tomorrow should have it all good to go, I hope. I couldn't install the top half of the interior since it's all grey cloth and my hands were black dirt. That'll be a first thing to do tomorrow while the handsies and still clean, me thinks.
So I uhhh.... bought another cummins :/ This is like cummins number 9 I think?? Vehicle 52(?) Too dark for pics at the moment. Burgundy with a silver lower strip, full load, 5.9L HO cummins, 35" tires on 20x10 rims,9 inch fab tech long arm, fire ringed head, headstuds, bd super b turbo, 90hp injectors, 2006 NV5600, edge chip, afe intake, S&M cold air, FASS, 4" turboback, new rings and bearings, 4th gen steering, and probably more I cant think of Came with 2 rear axles, a front axle, rust free doors, new rad, new intercooler, steering box brace, spare injection pump ($1000!), new steering box, 4th gen front bumper, and more stuff hes digging up 283k km, $5000 Pics tomorrow, its p decent but its a hurtin unit that needs some love
Jesus where do you find these deals
Typo. Anyways almost nobody stocks II or III which is what the manual recommends. Only IV and beyond.
If it's a old beater, then just whatever AT fluid or powersteering fluid that's currently cheapest.
All this talk of building a surrey buggy thing makes me wanna work on my golf cart. The big thing holding me back is the axle. The motor we bought for it is an FZR600, ans it makes 91hp/48 lb-ft. Do you think a 1" solid steel axle, either keyed or splined, would handle that?
So I'm writing a 9 paragraph argumentative essay for my english class, and i need a prompt. Agree for Turbocharging vs. Supercharging disagree for Manual vs. Auto
Hey Valon, how about you snip that addiction and shoot those deals our way before sniping them? I mean... It's for your own good.
I feel like manual vs auto is a better prompt for people that don't know much about cars but turbo vs super is something that I would genuinely want to read Depends on your audience imo
turbocharging is objectively better
turbocharging is objectively better
Makes sense. I know supercharging apparently puts a hit on your fuel economy and I'd imagine turbocharging does so as well, or am I wrong on that assumption?
Makes sense. I know supercharging apparently puts a hit on your fuel economy and I'd imagine turbocharging does so as well, or am I wrong on that assumption?
Turbocharging increases efficiency, with proper tuning you can absolutely increase fuel economy. Here's a car with a turbo on the fancy JDM D15B 3-stage vtec motor which has both the 12 valve mode VTEC-E from the Civic VX/HX and the normal VTEC from the EX all jammed into the same SOHC head. I say that this motor is still infinitely better than the R series/L series that have replaced it for the last 20 years. The US model VTEC-E HX motor was rated for 44mpg highway, I'd probably assume that the JDM motor which was less economy orientated should be rated a slight bit lower. [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile Uploads/image_zpsjg70inkf.jpeg[/thumb] Its a not too shabby unit cleaned up. Gonna get a buffer and see if I can get some of the scratches out I'm apart of a lot of facebook vehicle groups so I scower them like 5x a day looking for deals n shit. Kinda helps that nobody has any money right now!
nobody except you apparently :v:
turbocharging is objectively better
turbo is better for a fun car and can be used for improving fuel economy but supercharging is better for an actually fast car. the power band is broader allowing you to have longer gaps between shifting which equates to less lost time putting power to the ground. [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] of course twincharging is the best but that's complicated and expensive [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] hence why most pro drag racers are running supercharged rather than turbo. [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] though for smallish engines ie >3 l peak power is more important than raw torque so they benefit more greatly from a turbo. [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] http://neworleans.craigslist.org/cto/5564100381.html "good tires" they're flat in the photo [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] like flat tires isn't going to stop me from buying a $6500 rolls royce but jeez what is going to stop me is my lack of $6500
Why is it that old rolls royces always come up so cheap? Even very nice ones seem to run like 15k. I'd expect them to be much more.
Why is it that old rolls royces always come up so cheap? Even very nice ones seem to run like 15k. I'd expect them to be much more.
if anything goes wrong it's an arm and a dick to fix
if anything goes wrong it's an arm and a dick to fix
And given that it's a 'British' car, things will certainly go wrong.
My Mopar brothers, I have a question. For running boost on a 5.2 Magnum, would swapping the heads to the 360 heads to drop the compression be a good idea? I'm just thinking that down the road I should boost my Dakota. Run like 6 psi or something. It'd be fun. Just wondering if it's worth while to mess with the heads.
@butre Twins are the way to roll, most of the full bodies pro-mod cars like my dad's are going 240-260mph with twins. The dragsters use superchargers because they're an easy set up to tune and maintain I think. Ill ask my dad Turbo is the way to roll in a properly developed application. They take no horsepower to run, and in a compound set up, has near no lag. Plus, turbo cars are cool, cool, all cool, and nothing but cool. [thumb]https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7546/15904985660_78e74c51bd_b.jpg[/thumb] I could ask my dad about his thoughts on the subject? Couple probably cite him as a source [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] @lerith I forget if 360 heads work on a 318, maybe a closed chamber set? They're made for a .100 bigger bore I than the 318 so you'd have to check how everything lines up. They should work much better though. If you're gonna have the heads off it cant hurt to put on a set of headstuds as well
Welp, almost got T-boned at an intersection and I wanted inputs if it was my fault or there's, but in my own opinion it was there fault if there were to be a accident So I was sitting at a light, with a yellow arrow, making a left turn onto a road, waiting for traffic to clear before going, well there is a right yield turn for them going to the same road I am turning on, so a few cars pass and I see 1 more car coming, then they turned on there right blinker about 200-300 feet before the turn doing about 45 (Speed limit) So what I assumed is they seen me, figured to let me know they were turning....nope. I went and well, they almost slammed into me, blaring there horn. So I don't know why they turned on there blinker (Accident I guess?) But still, why blare the horn at me when they are obviously in the wrong (IMO)? I dunno. I was always a firm believer in "Don't trust blinkers" and well, that's why, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS OFF BEFORE :why:
