Automotive Addicts Lounge V4 - Lube my pistons, baby

Just driving normally like usual, then suddely some grinding noises started happening so I turned around about to head home but then some loud clunking noises came and it just seized up completely. I called like every single person I knew in the area I was in but nobody answered, so I eventually got hold of my sister which lived just a few km away from where I was so she towed me to her house where the Beetle will sit until me and dad get it on monday, and she drove me home. I gave her money for the trouble of course.
So now I'm a pure Merc man for a while I guess.
I do have the green Beetle for parts which got the exact same engine as the one in my Beetle which should work, but I've never tried it. If I'm lucky and that engine starts, I'm gonna pull it completely apart, upgrade it a bit and put it in the "main" Beetle. I'm gonna be Beetle-less for at least a few months I think. I gotta get money for all this too while I'm saving up to move out.
i bought a ferd

About to begin my journey to find enough parts for the new fuel / water separator.
4 stores (6 if i wanted to get the best prices!) Just to get enough parts to put in a fuel filter base.

and just hope the Crutchfields harness (middle) lines up with the stock harnesses???
Sorry if this is stupid but the inatructions say literally nothing.

I mean I don't even have 12 crimping caps?
K so I did it and the stereo happens to play music and my car doesn't explode when it turns on. I used electrical tape instead of crimps.
And when the volume is 0 there is non-negligible noise running through the speakers. Grounding issue? What did I fuck up?

Oh it was this "XBS" thing

Lol you actually could have plugged the factory harness right into that radio you got it looks like, from what I can see it has Euro plugs on it.
I don't have the money for a project, but I got to thinking: What would be the best base car for a Mad Max Interceptor type build, since we we didn't get that generation Falcon? A Maverick? Nova? Monte Carlo?

hahahahahahaha i think you're right
Stood in Lowes for hours to find the rightish fittings.
The only 1/2" to 3/8" was nylon (supposedly fuel safe)
Had to go 1/2" to 1/4", then 1/4" male to 1/4" barb on the other end.
$140 invested so far. Might return a few things, bought extra parts just in case.
he went to garrett
Was not expecting that, burst out laughing. Woke up my girlfriend. Now I'm in trouble. Thanks.
In other news, I bought a valve spring compressor so I can finally desemble the rest my 2.5L head.
Also, does this make sense? The Dodge 2.5L has really shitty valve springs and it's common to swap them for Chrysler 3.3/3.8 valvesprings as they're beehives. But you have to shim them. However, if you use stock Chevy LS1 springs, they fit perfectly. Now could I take those LS1 springs and put them in the 3.3/3.8L? Or would that be too much seat pressure? I think the shims are .05 combined.
Anyone here own a Porsche 944/968? I'm really tempted to buy one.
I got the carb tuned much better on the weedeater motor, it will go about 15-20mph now. Im happy.
Im gonna go check this out, I might end up buying it and holding it for my friend till he gets back from being in da muhreens.

A terrorist in the making?
I went and drove that SE-R. I like everything about it but engine was all oily. Valve cover gasket was seeping hardcore, which isn't offputting, but the the oil pan & block were reasonably wet too. If it's all coming from the valve cover then no problemo but I'd be worried there's other leaks. Going to mull it over, if I wanna go for it I'll have a mechanic check it for more leaks

also I regret not taking it onto the interstate

also it was a Colorado machine for 15 years before coming out here, but I didn't see any rust underneath (my california ass looking for rust is worthless though)

Argh, now I've been offered an AW11 MR2 as well. Are there any problems with any of these cars that I should be aware of before making a decision?

bags should be illegal
that wagon is definitely dragging
Welcome back, I've missed seeing boosted D17 posts!
Hoping to have it done in a few months.
I checked the engine I have in the green Beetle I bought for parts and it turns! The insides seem to be in pretty good condition cause it feels tight and good. I'm probably just gonna cut off the ass of it to get the engine out with minimal effort so I don't have to jack the car up when it's sitting on dirt.
I'm gonna take apart both engines, the seized one in the Beetle now, and the spare one and hopefully build one good engine out of them.

I don't have any issues with bags, people with static cars insist to drag them all over the fucking ground and cause body damage which is nearly consistent with hitting things since they are literally wrecking the car into the ground.
I'd rather see a nice condition NSX used as a show car and kept nice than someone ever beach it into a speed bump and smash the core support in. It's such a competent car as well that I imagine if the bags were made fairly well it would probably still drive and handle amazingly.
Just completed NFS2015. What a shit game. The graphics are amazing though, so I spent a lot of time in the snapshot mode and took some cool shots:
