So I've been saving up money for a while, and I was planning on buying a Z32 300ZX TT towards the end of the summer (When I'd have about 10K to go looking for a new car). Well, my DD which is a 2005 Lexus ES330 that I got from my mother when she got her new car is approaching 160k miles. I mentioned to my grandfather that I've been wanting to learn MT, and in an unprecedented moment of generosity, he said he would match my money on the condition that I get a newer, lower mileage car that I'll be able to drive for a while. So I went and looked, and found a 10k miles, clean carfax 2015 FR-S MT at a nearby dealer for 20k off the lot. The only complaints I've heard is that it's a little underpowered, but that's not necessarily something I'm worried about as long as it's fun to drive and not a total hassle. I was looking at miatas, but I don't really want a convertible. I've always loved cars, but I've never been able to own one that was really 'mine', and this would be my first chance. Is there anything about the GT86/FRS/BRZ that I need to know before I buy one? Despite how some people feel about the car, I love the aesthetics of it, and it seems like a good choice, but I don't know all the details, and wanted to get some extra opinions.
The FR-S is going to be all the fun of the Miata, with none of the convertible hassle and "back seats". You should go for it.

Someone my buddy was trying to sell his to wouldn't touch it because they were sure the chain guides/vvt/timing chain failed or something and this was a dealer who primarily bought and sold tuned Subarus. The build quality really isn't great for what is currently a almost 30k car, don't kid yourself either since a Limited in automatic is MSRP'd to 29.5k. Dealers think they can list manuals at the same price since people are stupid and your average buyer buys automatic. They're not worth shit either, a 50k mile FR-S is worth about 15k maybe 16k. You can pick up a 3 year old car for half the price of the brand new ones. He nearly lost his ass on that car and it ended up having non-reported crashes that no one who made offers to him were even aware of. He put like 4k in parts on it and somehow some random foreign guy showed up and paid him out without even driving it just because he liked how it looked. He nearly lost 5k on it and that was even if he took his parts off. These cars aren't worth shit, in a few years you'll be able to pick one up with a little damage for under 5k.
Is that for your Charger?
That's the only vehicle I own. My work truck isn't my debt, thankfully.

here's that motor, vid taken while loading on the trailer. should have backed further into the water but that launch is hell (steep and slick, bad combo) and my tires are pretty bald

I cant ever find the perfect zone. The issue I believe is I keep both my live wells full of water and when I stop sometimes the front one will drain or not. Which significantly changes weather or not my nose goes above my nose V near my winch or goes under it and gets stuck. I will send a vid sooooon.
I'm pretty good about it but on that launch I like to play it safe, especially when my tires are as bald as they are currently. On a serious note, should I buy that Merkur if I can? What are they like to own etc

there's one launch that's even worse, you can't launch a boat more than 18 or so feet because the ramp ends in a vertical drop a bit after the water line almost every time I use that launch I end up having to help someone get their trailer out because the axle fell off the end of the ramp

Now instead of ramp issues we have too much water and ramps and lakes are getting closed. [editline]12th May 2016[/editline] Not gonna lie, mississippi looks pretty from that one photo. And also thanks for the suggestion on redoing my gas caps too. I hate the factory ranger ones. They have the most annoying threading type style that the cap has to be lines up PERFECTLY or else its not gonna go.
Not gonna lie, mississippi looks pretty from that one photo.
I've been all over the country but I wouldn't dream of calling any other place home. the only thing I don't love about it is the heat. Biloxi in particular has that small town vibe but the sort of night life that you only get in big cities, and the car culture around here is incredible. plus, nearly anything is road legal. I can't think of many other places where full racing slicks are allowed on the road. we have no tread depth requirement, just that the tires not be showing belt or have bulges.
Speaking of boats, I've been thinking about getting a new Sea Doo RXT-X 300. It's a 3 seater, high performance, with a supercharged 1,630cc engine (I think it's 18lbs of boost) making 300hp. Of course, the top speed is governed to 70mph (because of an agreement between PWC manufacturers and the coast guard so that the coast guard won't push for legislation to legally govern top speeds). I love riding sea doos (PWCs, JetSkis, whatever you want to call them), especially through all of the twisting and curving waterways back home. However, $16,000 is a lot of money, and while I could easily afford it (and pay it off within a year easily), I'm hesitant to actually do it. I think it's just that ever since I traded in my Mustang GT for my F-150, I've been missing something. Driving my Mustang was so much fun, and I absolutely loved pushing it on winding roads. Now with my F-150, while it handles beautifully, isn't exciting enough. It's like I have a high performance hole in my soul that needs to be filled with something. I think it's why I keep looking at things like sea doos, street bikes, jet boats, and even drag cars on racingjunk. It's like a damn addiction that I have to keep staving off. I think I need to seek help.
I've been all over the country but I wouldn't dream of calling any other place home. the only thing I don't love about it is the heat.
jetskieeees
Personally I find the new spark as much fun as our 2015 gtx 260. If I had the patience I would find another older seadoo xp and shave heads, bore, and aluminum jets. It was as fast as the new 260's but lighter and more nimble than the new sparks.

My '95 suzuki swifts fuel gauge is slowly rising to show the fuel level only when I'm throttling, if I lay my foot off the throttle, it slowly drops back down to E. what do?
Either bad fuel gague sender, or bad regulator most likely.

Tinted and waxed today
I cleaned up the garage today, went through all my random nuts, bolts and parts and cleaned my fluid shelf all for the first time ever. I really want to try to organize out all my nuts and bolts in one of those organizer drawer things but I don't have anything other than magnetic trays and coolwhip containers. I organized out my clips, exterior/accessory bolts and went through my drawers which I've never went through before and tossed out any junk parts. I also went through all my cabinets, threw away junk and reorganized everything so I didn't have 3M permanent spray adhesive and rubberized undercoating next to my glass cleaner. :v: Doesn't look like much but other than the part spew over in front of the cabinets which I have to work down soon, everything else is much much more tidy. I could probably even close the lid of my tool box if I really wanted to for the first time in ages. I've also freed up 3 of my magnetic trays of which I have 8, all of which were being "used" before. I hate how over time you just have to buy more and more of them. I started at first using the scissor jack that came in the back to lift the car but it ended up sliding forward and lowering the car just enough to where I couldn't put the wheel back on. SO now I have a 2.5 ton jack in my trunk instead of the normal scissor one. Best $40 I've ever spent, aside from the Garage Star door bushings, those were pretty awesome too. [editline]12th May 2016[/editline] Now that I think about it, the best thing I've bought for my Miata is my cup holder that screwed into the side of the center console. The NB1 cup holder is fucking awful.
