Need advice:
My car had these huge wind deflector things on the front, side windows. I took them off because they obscured visibility too much. They were held on by bolts and this double-sided adhesive tape. Bolts were easy to get off, obviously. When I pealed the deflector off, most of the adhesive remained stuck to the car. I'm struggling to get it off.
I've tried dabbing the adhesive with grease and wax remover and trying to peel it off that way. It works but it takes way too long, and I'm also worried about accidentally removing the protecting layers over the paint. Apparently caramel wheel works for this job, but I can't find it anywhere here. Anyone have any ideas? Especially where I won't have to apply some wax back on to the car?
Use that bug-off liquid stuff. I was able to use that to get the 3M tape residue off of my headlights when I removed the eyelids on my Mazda3.
hey guys, i was driving some friends today and my mate wanted to charge his phone, he went to put the charger in but there was something stuck in the socket.
so being the smart cunt he is he tried to pull it out with metal tweezers and now the stereo won't turn on.
i haven't had a look at it yet because it's still night time, but does this sound like it will be something that will be hard to fix?

Just a blown fuse. Was it the USB socket on the head unit itself? Then take the head unit out and replace the fuse on the back of it.
Or see in the instructions for the car where the fuse for the head unit is.

It'll be titled "ACC" or "radio" or something of that nature.
I saw a Lamborghini Aventador and an AMC Eagle today. I got far more excited about the Eagle than the Aventador. What does that say about me?
A running Eagle is probably harder to find than a Lambo. :v:
I see Ferraris and shit on a fairly regular basis, but I can count all the old AMCs, weird Mercury, Plymouth, etc cars on about one hand (per brand)
Eagles are super reliable though
Eagles are super reliable though
Yeah but seeing one actually driving is rare. Most seem to be sitting in junkyards or in someone's yard.
Steering wheel hubs are annoying to find for GM truks. I just want to put the steering wheel out of my truck and stick it in the suburban.
I think I will go get a cookie instead.
[sp]by cookie I mean a e36 this is going to be a mistake[/sp]

I think I'm in love.
I might straight up trade my crown vic for an eagle in good running condition and decent aesthetic condition if some offered me it.
And I love the shit outta my vic.
I'd trade my silverado for an eagle any day
I think I told you guys about the time I had a dream about trying to find an AMC Eagle on craigslist but the only thing that came up in the search results was Eagle Talons

there was one in a little worse shape in rapid city last month for 1300
The Chris Craft is sitting with a sign painter right now at the race track. We picked the interior I made up from the upholsterer and it is super beautiful. Not a lot left to do, and this boat should be delivered next week. We have to take the interior all out, then finish my wiring, we're installing a hidden beer cooler in between the stringers up front, and then I'm finishing some wiring behind the dash for switches, and a hidden bilge switch to drain the melted ice water out of the cooler and send it out a through-hull.
The floors are real teak glued to plywood which was a delivered option in 1957, except with a teak faced plywood that they just cut grooves in. These are individual sticks which look a lot cooler.

The gauges all got restored and sent back, and two of the Stewart Warner original tachs were modified with electric tachs inside of them, so they will work with the modern crusaders but still look stock.

The middle seats hinge forward and rest on the front seats, then the engine boxes hinge backwards to access the engines. Batteries are stored in custom boxes under the floor between them.

About 95% of the chrome is installed too. The stainless rails were all sent out and polished, etc. A year of work is about to be all complete. The ivalite spotlight on top was actually restored by a person who's been an employee of the company that actually built the lights, and they still make them so there's parts.
The crusaders sit like so. They're basically a modified 350 Chevy (kinda) and we got some custom exhaust pipes made up to drop off the back, then under the floor, and out the back through 4 seperate 3" pipes.

The middle floor is lighter because it is not finished yet. We have to add a hatch to it for the secret beer cooler. It couldn't be installed till I knew how the upholstery set and how big I could make it. (fabric and padding add 1/4" or more on edges) so now all that can be done when it comes back from the sign painter on Sunday. We always try to get a hand painted sign on the back of the boat for the name, and hand painted registration numbers up front. Gold leaf with black outline, and red pinstriping. Classy.
Fuckin' beautiful job serj!

Thanks, also Mopar fact. These boats used a '50-'55 Plymouth steering wheel with the Mayflower on the horn button in the center. I couldnt get a repro wheel so that's the original plastic, and I spent hours polishing it to look like it does, along with the plastic throttle balls on the dash, and the chrome was just rechromed and reinstalled. The horn button is N.O.S.
Also, the next boat we hope to do is a Chris Craft Capri which came with a Firepower Hemi Marine, which we also have (along with the hull) and may move onto next.
Neat. Regular Crown Vic air filters don't seem to fit interceptor air boxes.
If you guys want an AMC eagle, just buy a Cherokee. :v:
Buying a Cherokee is never a bad decision.
Here's more Eclipse fun. It's been in the upper 40's all day!

I got the fronts in today, too, but since the ride height is adjustable I didn't get a chance to set it and it's a mudrunner up front lol. I have about 2" of play room right now up there, but it was raining and dark and cold and ridiculous by the time I got that finished up.. so for my final day of vacation I'll do that tomorrow. Haha
So far so good with our goal of "no irreversible modifications" on it. I drilled one hole through the firewall and that's been it! I was investigating up front and I see strut tower rust repair work is in my future. But better to get it now.
What REALLY irks me off is he also has a '95 Eclipse with like 140k (this one has 75k) and it's the winter beater... but the strut towers and all that up front is CLEAN. The rockers have some holes.. but WOW that stupid car it less rusty than this dark 'almost rust free' one.
Still can't afford the water pump on the truck.
Converting to a spin on fuel filter cost about $140. It was well worth it.
Think my PS leak is fixed, possibly. Tightened a hose clamp that was loose and haven't seen any dripping since then.
A truck at the junkyard came in with good parts I need, but can't afford them either.

Yup! If that's a 2005+ PI I'll trade you my civilian airbox and zip tube for you. It's got a brand new-ish air filter on it so you're A-OK. I mean you might lose 15 horsepower but on a car that slow it's not like you'll notice it being ever so slightly slower :v:
I have cars that wouldn't be able to move under their own power if they lost 15 horses

The civvie air filter is literally half the size of the air box I have. :v:
Gunked up EGR (most likely caused by PO's grannydriving) made my engine clog up the vanes in my VNT turbo, so I "exercised" the VNT lever for the vacuum actuator "can" and fabbed up a EGR blanking plate out of a old PSU case.
Just gotta wait for the exhaust gasket gunk applied to the blanking plate to dry up, then it's time to take it out on empty backroads and REALLY let it live.

I have some extra exhaust gasket material. The gunk tends not to work if you block off an egr with a plate. I've been there. Done that. Lemme know if you need some. You just cut with a knife.

Already got a extra gasket and a lasercut plate on the way, I'm just impatient and the EGR is one sticky & clogged up sonofabitch I've already given up on cleaning.
Kinda a strange question here, but do any of you use a micro-cut paper shredder? Looking to get a good one for uh... reasons.
