and that shitty singers usually take about 3 years to disappear.
So shouldn't Justin Bieber be gone by now then?
Yeah I used to not bother too. But now grabbing albums is so much more enjoyable. I'd find joy through searching for stuff in a music store.
Generally it's because I've filled up an entire playlist full of music (YouTube literally cut me off), and I had to start a new one. It's a repository of music right there, and it's just too much music to get to all at once when we're speaking albums, haha. That, and I'm lazy, and I like Pandora. His music sucks, but I don't get why we're making fun of him whenever a discussion of music comes up. I don't have BIEBER FEVER LO!lL!OLLL! but, it's a joke that just got old so long ago and something I just didn't care about in the first place. Plus you have to have some respect anyone who got that popular. I hate Kanye West, but I admire how he got to where he is right now. I'd love to live comfortably and with money in my pocket. (not that I'd sell out, but they're in a good position at the moment.)
That, and I'm lazy
Yep, I hear you. But once you start becoming more interested in discovering the stuff, that wears off. :-) [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] also I feel this conversation is in the wrong place. You just gotta look deeper. Here in Denmark, there are lots of quality artists in the indie genre. And I would be surprised if there were none in USA too.

Pop music is at an all time downlow source:

Shit music, it's too easy to get noticed and make money off the small percentage of people worshipping the ground you walk on. Google BrokeNCYDE, but be prepared with some cyanide pills after you listen to it, you'll want to kill yourself. Honestly, it's really just a hipster thing. Deadmau5 and Skrillex are "the thing" to listen to in order to be edgy and cool, and don't get me wrong, they are good, but there are other, better bands out there that get 0 recognition.

nah it's bad
nah it's bad
Why do you care
I don't
I've never listened to a deadmau5 or skrillex album because I haven't had the inclination to. Nor have I listened to a Bieber album. This is the same for a lot of people, so really nobody should be caring this much.

Pop these days= EW. I like dubstep, though.
Pop these days= EW. I like dubstep, though.
For some reason that sounds like an oxymoron to me.
The name "Daft Punk" brings a story... About 2 years ago, my bro and I got DDR Hottest Party 3. We played the Tournament Mode for a while, and then my brother got to the song "Daft Punk is playing at my house." It was HILARIOUS, because you have to get an A or higher on it to pass it. My brother couldn't get the beat right, and he literally fell on the couch one time and failed. It took him 2 or more hours to beat it. I thought I was gonna die laughing ROFL
For some reason that sounds like an oxymoron to me.
that's because it is
I'd say music has become worse, but that has a lot to do with the genres running, and me not liking them. People still make good music, though, but generally I think it's gotten less advanced.

People are always making good music you just have to look around a bit more to find a music style that you enjoy unless you like R&B.
Every generation has its shit and gold. To be honest I think the mainstream music of the 50's, 60's 70's and parts of the 80's was all great (for the most part) but shit was still being made of course. Now, I think shit tends to be at the top of the mainstream, but there's just as much good music also, you just need to look harder for it as it generally isn't hit music. problem with music nowadays for me is it takes so much damn effort to discover a good band or artist. I dont have time for that shit, I have other hobbies to look after, I'll stick with my oldies because they are all out in the open where I can see them.
"ugh 21st century music is shit" Gorillaz Fuck ya's
People are always making good music you just have to look around a bit more to find a music style that you enjoy unless you like R&B.
As a fan of R&B styles, I'd say it's kind of dying since the end of the 90s. It's fallen into a pack of uncreative pop music. Then again there are still the likes of Janelle Monae and Aloe Blacc who change that.
And you're getting Neo-Soul back for it.
I think people can just get away with putting some shit in fruityloops and hoping to create a chart-topping single. Take Skrillex for example, a lot of you hate him, listen to the early Skrillex, I listened to Skrillex when he had 190,000 likes on Facebook, not 3,000,000. When artists get popular they think "meh im rich now nvm" and stop trying, yet keep releasing.
I listened to Skrillex when he had 190,000 likes on Facebook, not 3,000,000.
Jesus....who cares....
if you mean "innovative" then you're probably right.
I'd say both.
I'd say both.
but there's plenty of complex things available now that technology can be used to benefit. I'm not talking about production styles neither. Back the 70s/80s you had tape effects which were a bugger to use probably, nowadays it is all simpler and can be done a LOT quicker. Possibilities are endless tbh.
I think the music has turned into the shittiest state yet.
Why?
