inb4 optimistics
can't rate here. But I've never found in the benefit in thinking less of people for listening to certain music.
Some don't get bored so easily. Think about it.
Yeah, I just used that as an example of my personal taste. I do understand that people love Taylor. Obviously, because she wouldn't be famous if people didn't like her. I was just saying that I, personally, do not like her music and find it uninspiring. Doesn't mean I find her bad or that her songs suck. No music is good or bad, it's only liked or not liked by an individual or group. [editline]9th February 2012[/editline]
I can, and she doesn't sing about love exclusively although she sings about it 90% of the time. She has some really good songs, and is by far my favourite country singer. inb4 optimistics
Well, to contrast, what is a genre of music that you absolutely cannot stand, or that you dislike the most?
True, people have different tastes, for example I have the weirdest diversity of music, ranging from the Beatles, electronics (Daft Punk aw ye), Taylor Swift, etc. I don't think any less of anyone else for their music.
Having an eclectic musical taste is pretty good, it gives a nice broad spectrum of sounds and doesn't leave you bored.
It doesn't leave me bored but I can't get explore a specific genre as much as others. I don't mind though.
When it comes to finding new material in a genre I personally just use /mu/'s essentials.
I generally dick around making custom charts on RYM, unless I'm looking for metal, in which case i generally noodle off to metal archives or a couple of blogs. I am, at heart, a metalhead but I don't see why that should stop me listening to other stuff.
Well, to contrast, what is a genre of music that you absolutely cannot stand, or that you dislike the most?
I didn't notice this edit, anyway I cannot stand screamers or death metal for some reason. 80% of dubstep also sounds the same to me.
I didn't notice this edit, anyway I cannot stand screamers or death metal for some reason. 80% of dubstep also sounds the same to me.
Well, there you go. I also cannot stand scream metal/rock, but I can stand death metal. Dubstep can be ok for me, but most of the time I don't enjoy it. Just goes to prove my point that everyone has tastes and that it's unfair to say that today's music "sucks" just because you don't like it.

She sounds nothing like country. Not to mention she has the most childish voice I've ever heard. She sounds like that annoying school girl wearing jean skirts (or whatever they call them) that does nothing but text on her cell phone during class. This goes for most pop singers in my opinion. Adele and maybe a few others are the exceptions because they don't sound like they're twelve.
all in all, if people want to open their ears, they'll see more of what this world is about.
sounds nothing like country? you're joking
She sounds nothing like country.
You don't know much about country at all. Just because she's not in the style of Johnny Cash, doesn't make her styles merely "pop".
sounds nothing like country? you're joking
No, actually I'm not. If you truly believe that, I suggest you look up more country songs that aren't Taylor Swift (because she's not country). I've been listening to country for as long as I can remember. It's a fact that other country artists sound nothing like Taylor Swift. If you still think that, you really need to get your ears checked. I was comparing her to other country pop artists. She sound WAY more pop than any other country singer.

I'm genuinely curious seeing as a lot of people don't actually know what it is.
Sorry, but Taylor Swift isn't country. She is pop. I hate how people think she's country. Doesn't make it pop music.
Congratulations, you compared two songs and assume it's the whole genre. Good for you. Also, I can do it too.
You can't just classify everything you hear on the radio as pop. Sure it's popular. Doesn't make it pop music.
Taylor Swift is a country pop artist, imo. I'd say she's actually quite good.
Wow, a musician changes their style whatever next. :suicide:
no i compared two songs and came to the conclusion that they share similar aspects and therefor could be under the same banner or genre.
Taylor Swift is a country pop artist, imo. I'd say she's actually quite good.
I disagree. I pretty much dislike any voice that sounds like it's twelve. This is why I dislike most pop.
I disagree. I pretty much dislike any voice that sounds like it's twelve. This is why I dislike most pop.
Japanese pop must make you want to gouge your ears out then. They all sound like they're five :v:
Wow, a musician changes their style whatever next. :suicide:
I don't think you understand the point I was making. Taylor Swift sounds MORE pop than COUNTRY in MOST of her songs.
I disagree. I pretty much dislike any voice that sounds like it's twelve. This is why I dislike most pop.
noone's forcing you to hear it, if you have the inclination to hear something, you'll enjoy it.
Japanese pop must make you want to gouge your ears out then. They all sound like they're five :v:
Thanks for the heads up lol.
I don't think you understand the point I was making. Taylor Swift sounds MORE pop than COUNTRY in MOST of her songs.
Do you actually care this much?
Japanese pop must make you want to gouge your ears out then. They all sound like they're five :v:
pfff if you don't think that's good then you just have zero musical sensibility.
