I know people may not want to admit it, but isn't a taste of music subjective? What you might find [B][I]awesome[/I][/B] can be for some people, completely [I][B]shite[/B][/I]. I'm not that keen on most chart music, personally, however. Some of it I find okay, but the autotuning can get on my nerves. That's my opinion.

I don't see the reason of all the hate towards making music with computers, I know some techniques such as auto-tune and so on might be questionable, but if we, for example, take the whole electronic genre, it brought us alot of new stuff that a few years ago couldn't be even imaginated, I think it actually brought the genre back to earth, now everyone with a laptop can make an electronic track and release it on the internet, and in my opinion that's something really good. Now, whether they are producing good, creative stuff or making another Skrillex ripoff it's another problem.

Music hasn't changed in terms of quality. Music back in the 50's had it's ups and downs. People raised in the 30's or 40's didn't grow up on 50's music. So they really didn't get into it. Just like now.

Narrow mindedness is going to be the death of this generation, I swear on this. Why is it that you believe that this decade is more prone to musical releases that are universally accepted as shit? You don't seem to take in account that nobody remembers the terrible acts of previous decades because of their lackluster quality. Why is it that whenever I refer back to the music of the 60s and 70s I receive an almost automatic response of either Bob Dylan, The Beatles, or Led Zeppelin?

Just because music might not have deep meaningful lyrics, doesn't mean its bad. I like heaps of modern mainstream music, as well as a lot of classic rock and other older music. We only think modern music sucks because we're exposed to all of it. Its not like we hear about the crappy bands of the 60's and 70's, we only hear of the classics like the beatles or pink floyd, so we have an overall positive view of that whole era in terms of music. I'm sure there was music back then that was extremely popular, but no one knows about now. Just because a band/singer is popular, doesn't mean that their popularity will last. in 50 years, how many people will still remember Bieber, for example? So yeah you aren't looking hard enough. I wouldn't say that popular music is shit, it's just [i]too[/i] generic and simplistic in comparison to underground songs.

Theres a lot of crap (In my opinion) music that just has a rapper singing about "Shawty" and dance floors and grinding, and alcholol, drugs, sex. I don't really want to listen to that. Although that was the theme of Rock and Roll back in the late 20th century. Now we've moved on to hip hop with the same theme. There is good music though. Music you can get pumped up to or have fun listening or singing along to. We just think its bad music because a lot of us haven't been able to experience other generations in music so we think this massive amount of "crap" is unique. at least, thats my take on it. I for one, enjoyed singing Bohemian Rhapsody on a bus ride with my whole bus, humming Party Rock Anthem and other things. Music transcends time and you can either hate it with a blind passion because it sounds strange, or try to get used to it because it wont go away just because you don't like it.
