Music? Is this generation making shit music, or are people not looking hard enough?

I've not met one person I'd actually call a hipster.
Maybe it's me, who knows.

if you live in the south jesus christ there are so many
they're all like "lana del rey is my favourite artist" and theyve only listened to video games or some shit once in their life
no one remembers the shit music from ages ago, doesn't mean it didn't exist
I think the majority of what's played on popular radio in the US is pretty bad, but there are still really good artists otherwise.
ah radio.
just terrible :v:
Yes, I'm closed minded about radio, sue me.
I guess you really can't judge a whole generations music to be shit on personal opinion, but I haven't found a lot of really common songs that I like.
It really depends what genre you listen to. Personally, I think all this techno and dubstep is pure shit, but other people like it and think perhaps rap is shit.
It's really a matter on what you like. My mom would always tell me how everyone thought the Beatles were awesome, while she didn't much care for them.
I wouldn't disregard any genre as "shit" cause I have always been able to find at least somethings I like in each genre. Some of them are a stretch, like when looking for good modern country you usually have to stretch to bluegrass.
It's not "Bad Music"
Bad is entirely an opinion.
Music Changes, If music never changed we would all be listing to people playing music on a lute and singing about Castles and Princesses.
Music is a constantly evolving entity, It doesn't revert back to an old form it constantly moves forward.
I think it would be a safe bet to say that in 15 years
"Hello im 15 years oldi would like to apologise for what my generation has done to music.that is* all."
Will still be around and people will look back at our music and say that it was good. Thats just how people work
Shit music doesn't actually exist, people just have different tastes.

Oh, Yeah, Awful Example
The bad songs are getting way too much popularity and exposure.
Several radio stations where I live ONLY play what is in the top 20, and you'll often hear the same song up to 3 times in the same 90 minutes.
Capital FM eh? Horrible radio station.
I don't understand why people would not want to choose what they hear. It confuses me how many are obsessed with radio.
I used to like it when I was a kid, but now I have no interest in it.
everyone starts somewhere.
Yeah, well my friend did intentionally as a joke.
He's actually a very good guitarist.
Music is often found after looking at the top or popular listings, or if it's played on the radio.
I feel like there really is tons of good music these days, and a lot of it has just been looked over. Also, take into account the bands that have lasted through the ages. Why? Because they're the ones that were good enough to. We'll have our own music that lasts through a few generations as well, and the others will faze out with the rest of the crappy bands throughout history
The main problem is people not sharing good music.

Fatal flaw of these forums too.
I just said don't waste your energy with a guy who has prejudice. :v:
It's a simple flaw of a person's personality, but we can get over it.
I'm not prejudice against anything. I guess since I don't like "music" that is computer-generated I'm a terrible person.
So like country? :v:
You'd be surprised how hard it is to write good electronic music.
In country, the lead singer doesn't say two words and then have the vocals be over with. As for the electronic music, I guess it CAN be difficult. But me as a person, I do not enjoy anything without vocals or with bad vocals. Music to me is about singing and singing good at that.

You just summed exactly how you are prejudiced. You're not being told to like anything, but you do need to at least respect certain elements of music that you seem to be ignoring. Also you're enormously generalising about musical styles. There is plenty of electronic music out there with detailed and prominent vocal tracks. This is one of the most beautiful and tragic songs I've ever heard and it's totally synthetic:

cool here you go now be quiet

this is still electronic tooooo

It's true though. If music's apparently "only" about singing to you, why should electronics bother you? Unless you really know so little about music that you think that electronic elements = no vocals.

sound waves and vibrations are horrible, i prefer to interpret my music through gamma rays

When I said that, I meant techo and dubstep for the most part. It all sounds the same to me.
Well you see that's the thing , we should have to look hard for good music. I think music is more about a profit these days and thats why its so shitty. Yes , there are many good bands out there but there are not as many and there were. Unfortunately I've got a feeling music hasn't seen its worst yet.
