Be polite to the customer service people, seriously.

Who is such of masochist that you actually CALL customer service if something is broken? Just take it back to the store and explain what's wrong. Much faster.
And then get told to go back home and contact customer service. Yeh, much faster.
Thanking someone for helping you is common courtesy. Even if he is unable to help you, that doesn't mean common courtesy flies out of the window.

The fuck?
Don't you people have warranty on the shit you buy? It gets broken, you return it and get a new one. No need to fuck around on the phone with customer service dickwads.
I had a 10 minute problem with World of Warcraft, so I called up customer support and they got it fixed immediately. The lady was so nice, we carried on a personal conversation for a good hour. Talking about her kids and her husband, etc etc. I love customer support people like that. People who aren't afraid to get personal and trust their customers.

They won't pay your phone bill.

Meanwhile 20 people waiting in line.... Yeh she is so nice!
I do say thank you to help services.
But I'm shy as hell about talking to people like that. can't imagine why people would yell at them...
One time, I called Microsoft's xbox support hotline and told them my PS3 wasn't working
The guy on the phone actually tried to help me :v:
Uhhh boo hoo?
Their job is to deal with stupid people who break their shit don't shed a tear.
I'm a garbage man... have you ever thanked a garbage man? So if you think they deserve to be thanked for doing there job you can think again. i pick up people like that's trash every day. Thank your garbage man the next time you see him.
Well we give our bin men a tip at Christmas time to say thank you. We aren't gonna go down every day and thank them for emptying our bins but we appreciate it.

Also, I really hate outsourcing in companies when it comes to tech support. They could outsource almost every part of the process, yet the one part they choose is the one that the customer has to endure.
I worked in costumer support for several tv companies trought a 3d party company 50% of the pissed of people that called cried for their fucking tv card and how our tv's fucking sucks. When the issue is not even ours. Oh man if you could kill people over a phone i had been a fucking mass murderer by now. No worse fucking genocide.
one time i called xbox customer service because i was experiencing hard drive problems and they killed my dog in a drive-by shooting
Why does tech support even exist when we can just google any problem we might have?
There are still idiots.
I'll be polite when they're based in the same continent as me.
Do you know how hard it is to explain to a person in India that your cable is frozen in the ground and wont work?

YOU KICK MY DOG!
Try talking to blizzard support. See if you can keep your cool. When every customer support rep can't even speak proper English. (Yes... Thats A For apple... ye B For bat.. Ye when i have to say what every letter is it sort of ye.. pisses me off.)
The only time I get irritated is when I used customer service for a computer or computer hardware. Usually the first thing they say is "Is your computer on?" :what:
I used to thank my internet customer support guy, until my internet went off for a week, so I threatened him to stop using their service.
Got internet back after 20 minutes

They're just following procedure.
They're just following procedure.
When the customer explains exactly what the issue is, and they still persist in following procedure, they are just being annoying. Yes, they might be being recorded to monitor their progress, but fuck them for doing that still, not following procedure and getting a higher turnaround for fixes is better than following procedure, then again that only works when the tech support knows what they are doing, most outsourcess don't.

I'm sure if it was their choice they would skip the procedure and jump straight into helping you with the problem after you've described everything in full detail. The problem is the company doesn't ask the customer service people for advice on how to make things more efficient, they hire efficiency experts.
I called customer support for my visa gift card since it won't let me purchase anything on Steam and the guy was extremely nice and actually knew what he was talking about. I was really surprised and I gave him as much thanks and gratitude as I possibly could over the phone. Best customer support guy I've ever dealt with.
I'm naturally polite due to my Canadianism.
only if they arent a fucking asshole to me :frown:
I always send pissed off as all fuck emails, then apologize for it later if they do a good job. This mostly spawns from my 3 ignored emails to steam support and then I sent a really pissed off one and finally started getting replies. They didn't do a good job when I did get a reply though, so yeah.
I get mad at most tech support just for ignoring parts of my post that I send. Like lets put this example down.
"Hi, I just installed game x and it won't load up. I get error message 1672m. I went through the following things on your tech support guide:
Restart the game
Restart my computer
Reinstall the game
So it would be real fuckin nice if I could play this game I bought."
"Hi Power-Mad, the first thing you should do is try restarting the game. If this doesn't work, try a reinstall and that should fix everything."
