Hi.
Lived in England for a year, and went back this past christmas.
This is all true.
There were even Chavs standing around the Poundland in Guildford. One tried to heckle me, I ignored him.
The best part, though, was when we visited London to see the Book of Mormon, and there was a guy dressed in old type clothing, standing on the corner saying "ya need information?" loudly. And when someone came to him for help, he said "fuck off".
I love England.

The last time I saw an american in britain he was my head of cluster in my secondary school, I was so amazed at how someone could come to this desolate place of no sun, rain and misery.
I was in that part of Trafalgar Square last month and recorded this :v:

I don't think Shrek here understands the concept of the human statue.
This is a regular sight when you come up North and go on a night out

yep
"Ginger Joe", such a great nickname.
Trafalgar square is a trippy place yo. When I was there, there was a man in a tight colourful suit waving balls about, a man dressed up as yoda, a fat guy dressed as a stormtrooper just standing there and smoking, a bagpiper, Jamaican acrobats, a man sat on an invisible chair. I was tripping.
Your average english chap

Nevermind, I underestimated my own Google-fu: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/10/mcnugget-fight-mcdonalds_n_677415.html
And it appears the original was deleted under YouTube ToS. Damn.

So he says it's about 8 feet high, is he the weird guy who uses imperial measurements or am I mistaken on what most people use for distance in England?
We (the English) don't use one system or the other exclusively. It is, sort of, an amalgamation of both.
Go into a shop and ask for a quarter pound of cheese, and you'll get that, but in most cases you could also ask for 100g of cheese, and the they would know what you mean.
The price of fruit (for example) is given both per kilogram and per pound. (I think there was a case of a grocer who fought for the right to display prices per pound)
Food packaging has the weight printed in grams, or kilograms. But milk will have both pints and litres printed on it.
The road signs still measure in miles, but the price of petrol is given in pounds (money not weight) per litre. And the efficiency of the engine is given in miles per gallon.
People will still generally speak of their height and weight in feet and stone.
Computer and television screen sizes predominantly are measures in inches, but some also have the size in centimeters displayed.
If you study a science based subject at school, college, or university all the units will be given as metric because this significantly eases the calculations, and allows easier conversions. Metric is the standard used by scientists.
Temperature is an interesting one. Weather forecasts generally give both Celsius and Fahrenheit. But when people talk about temperature they frequently seem to give cold temperatures in Celsius ("it's minus 2"), but warm temperatures in Fahrenheit ("it's in the 90s, it's 92"), as was once joked on the TV program QI.
Basic conversions between the two systems are still frequently taught, but not usually tested.
Gotta love my grand country sometimes!

Funny story about that, actually.
I arrived there on December 23rd. jetlag got me and I slept until christmas eve at noon.
There was horrible rain and wind out there, and we were on a river. You can guess what comes next.
Christmas eve, water levels are rising and we have to move all the furniture up these staircases. So, christmas eve was not enjoyable, watching the water creep into the house. We got about 2 to 2.5 inches of water in the house. IN the house. pretty sweet, though, about 15 minutes away was Criterion Studios of EA.
We ended up leaving to go to a friends house for christmas.
The house is called Weir House and we were right on the Wey river, if you were curious.

if you look closely he is actually turned to his back, and throwing yourself that way even from 8 feet could be lethal.
