That video... I cannot.
I want a robot dick.
Where did that person get the lidocaine?
This thread has Eudoxia's seal of approval.
After reading that Terra Malatora thread, all I can think of when regarding Transhumanism is IMMORTAL CYBORG DRAGONS. :v:
Fuck I'd pay that guy to implant magnets in me. And stab my left eye out to implant a camera and LED light there (Eyeborg).
Fuck I'd pay that guy to implant magnets in me. And stab my left eye out to implant a camera and LED light there (Eyeborg).
Seems a bit unnecessary when you could just wear... Oh, shit. I knew there was a reason for those sunglasses!
While jogging, I started to think about what it would be like to start a biotechnological centered company, merging all current leading researchers in that area making one big company. Probably just a fantasy idea, but my god it would be cool. It'd be like a DARPA/SpaceX version of Bioscience.
This was a good thread. What a rotten way to be shitposted.

You may also start sounding like the dad from Modern Family, but that may be exclusive to Nobel Prize winners.
So besides sticking magnets into your fingers, and turning your dick into a vibrator, what else can you do?
So besides sticking magnets into your fingers, and turning your dick into a vibrator, what else can you do?
That's the point, if science can make your dick into a vibrator, what can't it do?
Accompanying blog: http://sapiensanonym.blogspot.com/ She's pretty crazy and probably not a good face for the transhumanist community in general: http://gnusha.com/logs/lepht_crap.txt With all that black and gloom and the emotinal stuff it's like she's trying to roleplay Molly from Neuromancer.
Deus Ex may seem silly to quote when it comes to transhumanism, but it brings up some pretty good points. What if we're forced to take certain drugs after surgery to prevent our bodies from rejecting the implants! I know there would probably be ways around this or solutions, but knowing drug companies, they do things the profitable way, not the easy way. My second question would be this: every doctor takes the "Hypocratic Oath", with can basically be summed up by saying "Do No Harm". I know that lots of people here would gladly replace a perfectly healthy limb to have an awesome robotic one, or robot eyes, or what have you, but how is a Doctor supposed to react to a situation like that? Does removing a healthy limb count as "doing harm"? Also, how do we deal with the fundamentalists that would probably go berserk over transhumanism? There are several religions out there (if not most religions in the modern world today) that would most likely view transhumanism as mutilation of the human body, almost to the point where they'll make the claim that people practicing transhumanism are "playing god". There are several fundamentalist individuals in positions of power, including the Federal Government of the United States, Great Britain, Germany, and several other influential nations. Would it come down to a U.N. mandate? Would it be based on a nation-by-nation situation? Would nations have the ability to ban people with implants from entering the country? There are so many questions to be asked about transhumanism and human implants and modifications in general, and I hate to say it, but people who point gleefully to the future with this topic in mind probably haven't thought about it thoroughly enough. There are thousands of political factors to deal with alone, let alone the technological aspect of it.

The Internet's a crazy place, my friend. I'm surprised we haven't heard of this kind of thing sooner. With science emerging as rapidly as it is, I'll probably see how humanity reacts to this by the time I have a beard.
Body modifications disgust me. [editline]28th August 2011[/editline]
That, finger video. Why would you do such a thing yourself?
Because people are morons.
I have an idea. It's like an oversized pacemaker. When your heart stops, it injects artificial adrenaline directly into your heart muscle and shocks you with the same charge as a defibrillator.
I have an idea. It's like an oversized pacemaker. When your heart stops, it injects artificial adrenaline directly into your heart muscle and shocks you with the same charge as a defibrillator.
So a pacemaker?
I have an idea. It's like an oversized pacemaker. Haven't seen her on anywhere in about two months now though.
Only augmentation I'd want is those sick sunglasses. I mean, fuck yeah. Why would you not want them?
Only augmentation I'd want is those sick sunglasses. I mean, fuck yeah. Why would you not want them?
because you may not look good with them?
because you may not look good with them?
It's impossible not to look good with them. Besides, even if you don't, they just slip back in discreetly, whilst still giving you a totally useless HUD.
Because people are morons.
I take notice. On top of that, none of the augmentations presented have no real use, or are completely dangerous. Those neodymium magnets? If the user in unconscious, and needs and MRI, how are they going to stop the magnets from being ripped out of their skin, or causing serious burns? Why do you even need to feel magnetic fields, anyways? There are thousands of tool you can do that, without mutilating your body, many can be hid on a naked body, too. And unless you're an electrician/electrical engineer, you don't even need such a thing. And that Lovetron 9000 or whatever, why would you risk death or serious injury installing a silly vibrator that has an external counterpart that does the same job, without cutting yourself open. Hell, what if it ruptures, and the heavy metals and chemicals in the batteries and components leach into your blood system? Or it moves out of place violently and causes severe hemorrhaging, and damages your bladder and prostate. Nothing here is augmentation or remotely useful, it's all mutilation, and even worse, it's all in the name of pseudo-science that is a mockery of transhumanism.

And of course you don't need to feel magnetic fields, but what if you could? It'd change your perception of an awful lot of things, you'd be more aware of technology around you and most of all, you'd learn a few things. holy shit. how do you turn this fucking music off?

[editline]29th August 2011[/editline] So far I've not yet seen any non-mainstream mechanical implants which justify the risk. [editline]29th August 2011[/editline]
Adding a completely new sense isn't augmenting someone's body?
Humans are already able to sense magnetic fields, it's just that we haven't been trained to use that sense in a direct fashion. Go make yourself a magnetic belt to help train you.
I can't imagine there'd be any reason to detect magnetic fields that would outweigh all the problems magnets in your hand would cause. It's be like cutting off your hand and replacing it with an icecream scoop.
I can detect magnetic fields, with no cost to my body, or risk! I've discovered that technology can be useful outside my body, using my preexisting and well developed senses to use that technology. Sure, I could cut open my hand and stick a bunch of magnets inside, or I could spend $10 and buy an scanner off the internet!
