The Falaise Gap region, been there before and found some cool things.
Some wheat fields are getting their first crops collected so we managed to search a bit today. Not much, but I found a very well preserved 10 penni copper coin from 1867 (with a nice patina), and another new 1966 silver markka. The 5 other coins I found were just new common stuff from 1970-1980.

Acquired a pretty awesome silver coin from a local dealer today

They're not rare, and only cost like 15-20€, but they're very cool.
Found a silver ring today, it's dated 1976 and has a name on it.

I went to Normandy, I found some amazing stuff! Pictures soon!
Post them pictures m8.
Found another ring today, it's either brass or bronze, not sure. Has three different year stamps on it for some reason, 1890, 1904 and 1905 (I4, Y4, Z4). Along with the smith's initials (WAJ), the guy died only at the age of 30 in the year 1911.

Also a 5 penniä from 1888 (uncleaned).

I found the descendants of the smith that made the ring. I will return it to them in the coming days. Interesting!
I know absolutely nothing about this stuff, but I found this while turfing a garden;

any ideas what it is?
A bayonet for sure, awesome find. Does it have any markings on it? The right picture seems to show text of some sort in the bottom metal piece.

Looks like you've found a P13 (or P14) Remington bayonet. From what I can gather it was used by the british in both WW1 and WW2, and in addition it was issued to the home guard during WW2 which might explain how it got in a random garden :v:

Looks like the blade has either been shortened or maybe it just broke or rusted away.

Woah, thanks very much! There is a little hammer pickaxe thing that I found with it, shall I post a picture of that?
Do you guys have any suggestions about cleaning it up?
Okay so here it goes;
These are a part of the finds, I have tons more shell casings, buttons and shrapnell but I wanted to show you guys the coolest stuff.
Left side shell casings are either German Mauser k98 shells or MG shells (use the same ammo).
Next and beneath them are a few pistol rounds, these are British (that's all I know for now).
All the other shells and full rounds (1 clip) are British Lee Enfield rounds.
To the right of the coins is a brass oil tube for cleaning a Lee Enfield rifle. Next to that one is a clip with cleaned rounds.

All of the buttons are from German uniforms, the silver one is most certainly an officers button.

The coins are french except for one; that's a 1937 Penny. The gold coins are dated 1922 and 1923 and are some kind of token worht 1 Frank. The silver one is a 1 Frank coin from 1943.
Also some kind of small rifleman badge/pin (I haven't found the same one yet when searching the internet).

This is a wristwatch I found and it's the most exciting find IMO, I wanted to open it to see the inner workings and maybe to find a brand name. What I got was way more exciting though. A folded piece of paper. I later unfolded it and there's some writing visible on it. The ink is really faded though so I might need a blacklight to read the text.
Next to that is a nice pocketwatch!

Was detecting near the old railway station and found a totally squished 10 penniä coin from 1912.
Intact one next to it for comparison.

Someone probably threw it under a train back in the days. Them ye olde steam trains.
Found the copper fittings to the copper pipes I found behind the barn last time I posted, I'll post pictures if anyone wants to see a bunch of tarnished elbows.

What a neat piece. The fact that the face is still legible makes it much more interesting than it otherwise would've been.
Hypeee, got a metal detector on the way! Can't wait for it to arrive.
Almost a gold coin. Almost.

Got a heart attack when this thing came out of the ground. Then I cleaned it up a bit and the brown copper edge became visible.. Some cunt in the 1700s made a gold plated copper daler. A very thin gold layer. Fucking hell.
Went out for the first time today with my detector to a local forest that was used by the Allies as an ammo storage site during WW2. Found two US made 50 cal rounds, a .303 round (probably British), 5 P.E. tokens (still not sure what they would have been used for), and various other little bits of non-descript scrap which I didn't bother taking. Not awful for my first time out!

Silver thimble, dated 1895 and has a visible name on it. Somewhat damaged from farming equipment over the years

Random assortment of 1600s-1700s coins, buttons, and a copper ring. Condition of coppers is shit in this field sadly

Friend found his first silver coin last Sunday (he started detecting 3 months ago). And just a few days later, today, he found his second. Such luck.

I think you should take kirederf to the curb if he doesn't come back soon with the text of that note. I assure you this recommendation has nothing to do with my recently announced vendetta over his thrifting powers. :v:
Soon!
Found a very rare glass mirror button that dates to the 1500s-1600s, first one I've found and probably will ever find. The local museum is interested in it

Also some coins (shitty 1 Ör, and well preserved 5 Penniä + 2 Kopecks)

Is a Ace 400i going to be much better in salt water/wet sand than a Ace 150?
I've had an Ace 150 for 2 years but only used it for a few hours because I got demotivated because of the performance at the beach.
I'm only really looking to spend up to £400 not sure if their are any good wet sand detectors around/under that price.

Ace series aren't for salt water and the 400i isn't much better in that area. You're going to have to dial the sensitivity way down to prevent false signal spam, and that'll cause you to miss smaller objects. So it'll "work" but at greatly reduced effectiveness. Even the official Garrett website states the 400i is recommended for "Dry Beach/Fresh Water Hunting", not salt.
Plus the casing is not waterproof so one slip and your money goes down the drain.
If you're going to go full on salt water and don't really care about fields/forests/lawns/parks, absolutely look into pulse induction detectors instead. Pulse induction doesn't give a fuck about salt water
