I think those numbers are a little unrealistic.
Alligators and Crocodiles kill more people in the USA than Sharks annually.
Still hundreds seem like a little much.

They only reach 7 mph on land averagely and they can generally be avoided. There speed in the water is much, much more. The record on land is 10.6 mph.
