Badass.
That still isn't making any effort to work out a solution. He needs to ask her what the problem is, not continue to punish her like that.
No he doesn't. You don't change people by "talking", you change them by doing. Don't fucking delude yourself. I don't think any talk with my parents ever resulted in me changing my ways- and they warned me, they always warned me before they punished me. The only times in which I actually changed what I was doing was when my parents punished or threatened to punish me, the reason being that my dad is a person you don't want to piss off. Why do you think so many kids nowadays have a fucking attitude? Oh, right, because their parents don't actually do anything to change their behavior. All they do is talk. If my father taught me anything in this world, it's that you don't raise your kids by being a fucking pussy, you don't raise them by being their "friends", you raise them by being their leader. And if that takes punishment to do, so be it.
He said in the video he has been grounding her and taking away the computer and cellphone. That still isn't making any effort to work out a solution. He needs to ask her what the problem is, not continue to punish her like that.
The problem is she wants her hand held for most of her life. What's probably happened is they've been awesome parents for a good amount of years where they've taken care of her and done everything and she expects it to continue. He's trying to get her ready to become independent early so she stands a better chance in life and she's just not warming to the idea properly.
He needs to ask her what the problem is, not continue to punish her like that.
Oh yeah? Well Poland asked Hitler what the problem was, and you saw what happened.
He doesn't seem to understand that kids are just like that though, harsh punishment builds resentment for the future, rather than sitting down and talking through problems.
If my Mom had sat me down and talked about my problems I'd a complete dirtbag or something by now. Children don't have the best reasoning ability, I sure as hell wouldn't have understood some of the things I did if she tried to go all tippy toe around them. What I DID understand was if I tried to climb the fence during Recess or took off during time outs I'd get my TV and toys taken away. In my case it worked. My Mom is like my best friend, I don't resent her at all for it now. At the time I did but now I understand I was a little monster and I deserved it. Parenting is hard.
BTW, this is the facebook thread reaction- http://www.facebook.com/tommyjordaniii/posts/299559803434210
He should have filmed it all with the laptop webcam, and then shot the hell out of the screen while it was still filming (or even better, just stream it)
tat classy redneck boss
I love how she describes her chores in her Facebook post as if she's a slave and all she's a slave and yet she's doing small things to tidy up the house which at the most should take me (I never do chores) at the most an hour. Her mother and father must work their asses off just to see her bitch and whine about petty bullshit that I wouldn't mind doing.
Hmm this does sound kinda right: "The act of making this video is NOT good parenting. It is immature. The girl had a fairly typical teen list of complaints and was just blowing off steam. When you are 15 this is how you think. Everything is Big Drama. Your parents are slavedrivers, you have no life, no freedom, etc. It is as normal as the sun coming up. It's only been this way for every teen girl in the world for the last million years or so. But the most important thing in the world for this guy apparently is to show the world just how right and good and clever he is and how much of a worthless piece of shit his daughter is. Winning, and making sure everyone knows you're winning, is more important than actual parenting. This is 'good parenting'? How does this accomplish anything constructive?"
tat classy redneck boss
What? He doesn't fit the criteria.
Redneck is a historically derogatory slang term used in reference to poor, uneducated white farmers, especially from the southern United States.
He's bought a laptop for his daughter and can afford 130 dollars in software, then shoots that shit. He's pretty obviously not poor. He went to college, so he's educated. The only thing he fits is being a white farmer from the south. He isn't a redneck.
I really hope this is a troll

The only thing "redneck" is his state which is just barely a Southern state.
He isn't a farmer, he's in IT. The only thing "redneck" is his state which is just barely a Southern state.
Oh right, forgot about that. I just remember seeing what looked like a bunch of farming shit in the background.
I really hope this is a troll
tl:dr should be more like this
you punished and scolded your daughter, shes going to grow up to be a crackwhore
i don't really agree with chores and shooting laptops but okay.
The girl had a fairly typical teen list of complaints
This. THIS I fucking hate. This is not a typical "teen" thing, and this is not a typical list of complaints. This is a typical thing because stupid parenting allows it to be in our current society. "When you are 15 this is how you think. Everything is Big Drama." I didn't fucking think that. Maybe it was because my parents taught me to appreciate what I've got, unlike every fucking spoiled brat I see in schools nowadays. As to the point of him publishing it online, I think he didn't really think it much through, but frankly I don't really give a shit. If this would teach that girl to fucking behave, I am all for it.
When you are 15 this is how you think. Everything is Big Drama.
no it isn't
"The act of making this video is NOT good parenting. It is immature. The girl had a fairly typical teen list of complaints and was just blowing off steam. It's only been this way for every teen girl in the world for the last million years or so.
Teenagers test their parents a lot, the brain is learning what is right and what is wrong and what are the repercussions of something. Shooting the laptop was out of frustration, was unnecessary but the child has to learn her attitude and what she says to people is unacceptable - she sounds spoiled. The cleaning she is required to do is basic maintenance of a household and if she does not learn young to do those things then she'll become lazy and likely blame her parents for never making her do those things as a child. Teenagers bitch for the sake of bitching, but that doesn't make it correct or justified. A immovable object meets a unstoppable force so to speak. As long as he does not smack her I am okay with his methods, this is actually parenting encouraged by child agencies - time outs, banning personal possessions etc. This is basically a case of rich kid syndrome, especially because she expects a 'maid' to do her cleaning for her. Cleaning the bedroom, putting the dishes away, vacuuming the floor and cleaning dishes was something basic for me as a teenager and came in second nature because its life skills. I mean fuck, I don't even own a dish washer, I clean all my plates in the sink.
Hmm this does sound kinda right: "The act of making this video is NOT good parenting.
Tbh the fact that she made up shit just to seem like it was a bigger deal than what it actually was. I'm not use to doing chores and I wouldn't mind doing the stuff that she does. Simply sweeping the floor, washing the counter, doing dishes, and making your own bed is nothing.
When you are 15 this is how you think. Everything is Big Drama. Should a cat eating your neighbor's pet mouse be acceptable since it's apparently "normal"?
But the most important thing in the world for this guy apparently is to show the world just how right and good and clever he is and how much of a worthless piece of shit his daughter is.
. Uhhh, no? He never insulted his daughter and the wording of the daughter's message was far more offensive and disrespectful than her father's response.
Winning, and making sure everyone knows you're winning, is more important than actual parenting. This is 'good parenting'?
>complains that he wasted his day and money for upgrading laptop >proceeds to shoot laptop best parent 2012 :downs:
maybe if you werent a spoiled brat, you'd take the time to step back and realize that wasting money is the least of his worries some of the people in this thread really need to get beat by their parents.
holy shit, i didn't know there was a redneck parenting tv show! "you see, if you've got a problem with your there daughter, the best thing to do is to grab a small handgun, like this one, and uh, shoot everything she owns. this will teach her that uh, shooting things is the best way to establish the father/daughter relationship." "now if your family isn't closer after about 200 rounds of ammunition, jacketed of course, then uh you might have to consider sending back your daughter for RMA." "next week, uh, we'll learn how your beercans can double as cool toys for your toddlers."
>complains that he wasted his day and money for upgrading laptop >proceeds to shoot laptop best parent 2012 :downs:
You missed the point of the video.
no it isn't
15 year old girl. Yeah it is.
holy shit, i didn't know there was a redneck parenting tv show!
If my father taught me anything in this world, it's that you don't raise your kids by being a fucking pussy, you don't raise them by being their "friends", you raise them by being their leader.
yeah fuck intelligence or compassion, teach that fucking kid to eat that dirt and like it so he can grow up and spread my stupid methods motherfuckin kids
I suppose a leather belt to the ass would be a better alternative?

If your a redneck you would be drinking only beer and eating only beer battered products, and you would be mud wrestling, AND you would have an IQ of 12. This man shows he is intelligent, and knows what the right thing to do is. Shooting the laptop MIGHT have been overreacting, but it was not only cool to see, but it showed a point to his daughter. At least he wasn't ripping it apart with a fire-axe you know.
