Saying all teenagers are stupid is a dumb generalization. Their minds are still developing, and they lack experience, but stupid? What teenagers are you people running into that you have such a bad opinion of EVERY SINGLE ONE?
themselves i guess.
What teenagers are you people running into that you have such a bad opinion of EVERY SINGLE ONE?
Every single one.
no believe me they really are. when a mind is developing it doesn't mean that it doesn't work or that it's diminished in capacity, it means that it's simply more malleable.
Teenagers have no experience. In anything. Zero. None. I used to constantly think I know what the fuck I'm talking about, and every single time I was proven wrong by my parents. My political opinions are different than my parents, my religion is different than my mother, and I have different opinions than them sometimes, but I ain't got shit on my parents when it comes to practical experience in life, and that's why I listen to them. And from the sounds of it, it seems like you don't have anything under your belt too. What are you? 18? 19? 21, max? You and I don't know shit about life yet. Stop pretending that we, or anyone younger than us, has any knowledge of what the fuck they're talking about because we don't. This is why teenagers should be punished. They need to know that in real life, your actions have repercussions. That girls father sat down with her and told her explicitly after the last bullshit that she pulled that the next punishment is going to be much worse, and he stood by his words. If he didn't do that, his kid would still do stupid shit like this and fail to actually realize how good her life is. Teenagers don't give a shit about how you talk the talk, they give a shit about how you walk the walk. I have never, ever in my entire short 18 years of life seen any teenager including myself, that actually changed because of a stupid sit down and talk his parents did. I have, however, seen teens change drastically after they were handed the same shit they gave their parents for so long.
Who doesn't enjoy seeing things smashed?
enjoyment is different from evangelism. a giddy side of me might enjoy seeing a laptop get shot (especially because it's a shit one), but then the brain side of me says "hold on, i'm watching a giant baby shoot a laptop in a thread where teenagers call other teenagers bad and give out harmful and ignorant parenting advice".
themselves i guess.
The reason why so many people disagree with you is because you're being an asshole. Just stop.
Stop pretending that we, or anyone younger than us, has any knowledge of what the fuck they're talking about because we don't. This is why teenagers should be punished.
Haha, oh geez man. I legitimately laughed at that. [editline]9th February 2012[/editline]
The reason why so many people disagree with you is because you're being an asshole. Just stop.
He brings up a good argument.
Teenagers have no experience. In anything. Zero. None.
that's not true at all. ask a teenager from the projects about his experiences.
I used to constantly think I know what the fuck I'm talking about, and every single time I was proven wrong by my parents.
you used to? you still think you know what the fuck you are talking about... Stop pretending that we, or anyone younger than us, has any knowledge of what the fuck they're talking about because we don't.
so hang-on, you want me to consider your opinions, while agreeing with you that teenagers don't have any experience to hold opinions? ahhahahahha, i'm sorry you can't have both ways.
This is why teenagers should be punished. They need to know that in real life, your actions have repercussions.
Teenagers don't give a shit about how you talk the talk, they give a shit about how you walk the walk.
He brings up a good argument.
Of what? That we shouldn't punish teenagers and let them face the repercussions of their actions?
The reason why so many people disagree with you is because you're being an asshole. Just stop.
i'm being an asshole?
I hope you have one so when he spits at your face you realize what a fucking idiot you are.

He brings up a good argument.
He does have a few good points but when he acts like a massive dick is when he says things like "probably theirselves" "neither am I, but uh i also don't hate childeren or teenagers and use the internet as an outlet for my misanthropy..." and calls the father a redneck and a giant baby. [editline]9th February 2012[/editline]
i'm being an asshole?
I hope you have one so when he spits at your face you realize what a fucking idiot you are.

I never said whoever posted that message wasn't being an asshole either.
I'm not sure if he just stutters because that's how he is, or if he's talking like that out of emotions. This video made me feel bad about myself and my dad and my mom. I know they did whatever they could to raise me and, while I'm not the most outgoing and hardworking person in the world, I would say I was raised quite well. Never in my life have I ever said I hated my parents.
Of what? That we shouldn't punish teenagers and let them face the repercussions of their actions?
oh i'm sorry, i didn't know that shooting someone's laptop is preparing them for the repercussions of their actions. tell me, how does that relate to life as you grow older? [editline]9th February 2012[/editline]
He does have a few good points but when he acts like a massive dick is when he says things like "probably theirselves" "neither am I, but uh i also don't hate childeren or teenagers and use the internet as an outlet for my misanthropy..." and calls the father a redneck and a giant baby.
allow me to explain my reasoning. i think i'm really funny, it's a character flaw. therefor i'll just say shit to amuse myself.
How can people argue over what he did, appreciating things and beeing thankfully are the most important things to everything, without that, you are alone. When I was a teenager I always thanked and never took anything for granted, this guy is great.
oh i'm sorry, i didn't know that shooting someone's laptop is preparing them for the repercussions of their actions. tell me, how does that relate to life as you grow older? [editline]9th February 2012[/editline] allow me to explain my reasoning. i think i'm really funny, it's a character flaw. therefor i'll just say shit to amuse myself.
It prepares you to realize that if you act unappreciative and stab people in the back when people do things for you, you won't get what you had.
Am I the only person who thinks this looks like the coach of the Detroit Lions: Jim Schwartz? Even sounds like him. Am I tripping?
It prepares you to realize that if you act unappreciative and stab people in the back when people do things for you, you won't get what you had.
which is actually a very idealistic and deluded concept. it's more like, if you act unappreciative and stab people in the back when they do things for you, you'll probably become a CEO or a millionaire. so what are the consequences for the father who acted unappreciative of his daughter and stabbed her in the back by breaking her possessions and making her look like an idiot on facebook? a bunch of goblin laughs and likes on facebook? i think that's unfair, and at the expensive of someone's well-being. did you know that a lot of people with a depression disorder get undiagnosed? how would you know something's wrong when you don't talk to your daughter and don't know why they feel a certain way?
The only way for both of them to work is for the mother and father to show respect for their daughter but also keep a firm attitude, teenagers above all crave for respect. You notice this quite well from going from high school where you are treated like a learning machine to college were you are treated like an adult (and likewise, expected to somewhat behave like one). Reward for good deeds, punish for bad, explain the good and bad and the ethics behind them.
What's the point in destroying the laptop? He could've just sold it or whatever.
Probably loaded. Plus he's making her pay for the bullets he used too!
so what are the consequences for the father who acted unappreciative of his daughter and stabbed her in the back by breaking her possessions and making her look like an idiot on facebook?
It was his computer and he had every right to break it. Unappreciative? He bought her a computer, dumped even more cash into it, bought her phones, ipods whatever other shit she asked for. If my child acted like that, in a public manner no less, I would beat the living shit out of them. You can tell this dude is a hard worker and appreciates hard work. He has a kid that is unappreciative of him and what he does because boo hoo she has to do simple fucking chores. I hope you never have kids, they'd fucking walk all over you.

mental well being is an issue over having her computer destroyed...oh please
mental well being is an issue over having her computer destroyed...oh please
right because obviously i was talking about the computer, not the comments that caused the computer to be destroyed.
It was his computer and he had every right to break it. Unappreciative? So, instead of reacting in a mature, rational fashion, you would beat your children and somehow actually expect that to resolve the issue at hand. Not like having a good sit down and actually talking and reasoning with your child would solve anything, right? Sure, the kid's being rude and unappreciative and all, but that's no way to treat a person, let alone raise them.
if her daughter can't be responsible for what she owns (in this case, a portable personal computer) and act ungrateful to her elders then yea it's going to be taken away from her
No, it's not. Teenagers are fucking stupid.
keep living in a fantasy world buddy, you don't speak or say for everyone in that age group
Right. So, instead of reacting in a mature, rational fashion, you would beat your children and somehow actually expect that to resolve the issue at hand. And some kids won't take anything in if you just talk to them. Sometimes they have to learn the hard way, but it's usually the way that works the best
Fucking boss ass parent. Prime example of A+ Parenting.
that's not true at all. ask a teenager from the projects about his experiences.
He starts off with saying that every teenager is stupid and has no experience with anything. He isn't a very reliable source.
He took it too far. She just made a post on facebook, and all teenagers go through a stage where they "hate" their parents. Edit: Most? Nearly everyone I know has gone through it, and my parent's have told me since I was a young'n that I would go through that stage.
He took it too far. She just made a post on facebook, and all teenagers go through a stage where they "hate" their parents.
I never went through that stage. Lots of my friends never went through that stage. My sister went through that stage (this was before facebook and all that shit). His daughter is a bitch
which is actually a very idealistic and deluded concept. it's more like, if you act unappreciative and stab people in the back when they do things for you, you'll probably become a CEO or a millionaire. so what are the consequences for the father who acted unappreciative of his daughter and stabbed her in the back by breaking her possessions and making her look like an idiot on facebook? a bunch of goblin laughs and likes on facebook? i think that's unfair, and at the expensive of someone's well-being. did you know that a lot of people with a depression disorder get undiagnosed? how would you know something's wrong when you don't talk to your daughter and don't know why they feel a certain way?
A deluded concept? You do know the father didn't stab anybody in the back, right? He simply showed her exactly what it felt like to him. You show people things, not tell them. That's how you learn. You're assuming he doesn't talk to his father when obviously he cares about her for spending half his day upgrading her laptop.
