What would the benefits of a real "rapture city" be?

It's possible, but it'd be annoying to develop. Since sunlight can't reach the deepest depths of the ocean, you'll need to use UV lights. You could go organic and get human waste as fertilizer, but there's the nasty chance for E. coli infection. Water shouldn't be a problem, right?

See, this is where I have a problem with Bioshock.
I get that it's an argument against Objectivism and all but they did a shitty job of it. Rapture fell apart because ADAM fucked everyone up in the head. I don't get where unrestricted capitalism and whatnot came in and fucked it up.
Perhaps I should actually finish the game. I just realized I never actually beat it.

They want to make Capitalism EVIL. Because only a Capitalist society can fall, silly.
Although I find it interesting commentary that the Socialist (Fontaine) was only being kind to the people to rip them off when they have his trust.

It's because people and ideals that went against Objectivism were seeping in, and Ryan could either try and censor them, which would go against the philosophy of Rapture, or ignore them, and let civil war break out.
