What I like about this album is that it wasn't made for the people but for the artist himself. Adam Dutkiewicz wrote this album when he was in the hospital because he couldn't do anything else and that is badass.
[img_thumb]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51MbXzxqwML._SL500_AA300_.jpg[/img_thumb] Collins era is equally as good as the Gabriel era, fuck the haters. Well, they both have their own appeals in my opinion.
Duke is a good balance of both, in my opinion. Duke is also fantastic.
The most complete prog-screamo (?) album to date. It's too fucking good to be true. Yes, their whole discography. Haven't heard anything as emotional as this, ever.
This is basically a hour long Fuck you to Virgin
Dj Shadow - Endtroducing... It is life. Cannot be compared to.
I preffered Cut Chemists debut, The audience is listening.
Start to finish with attackingly heavy songs, bar the title track which is nothing like the rest of the album. Slipknot had to face the challenge of living up to their 1999 effort, and succeeded. [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] Extreme metal at its finest, undoubtebly influential in the subject of extremity. Start to finish of abrasive riffs that are thrown at you faster than you can deny them. Seeing as there's only 5 tracks that go for more than half a minute, it's no challenge to get through it, and after the first listen your ears will be too fucked to remember what just happened. It was also primary the frontman Antichrist who did the whole album, you'd never believe it would be a three piece band with the wholesome sound. Though unfortunately you could imagine a lackluster love performace without 2 guitarists
Jurassic 5 LP. Every song has amazing lyrics, amazing sampling and is completely individual.
Every song is great.
As it says, it's A chimerical bombination in 12 bursts. Like most 5 star albums its impossible to pick a key track, it's just all around too good, and a loud ass album that will leave you disorientated for the next 3 days (not really).
Japanese power metal, nuff said.
I was barely so excited to get an album. Listend to some of the songs on YouTube, decided to get it, and wow, this is exactly what I love. You get some uberparty songs (Crescendolls, One More Time...), some that go in a sad direction (Veridis Quo, Nightvision) and so on.
Because I can listen to this album on repeat for hours and not get bored of a single track
The Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson An absolute spectacle of progressive rock, covering the incredibly loud distorted side (21st Century Schizoid Man), the soft artistic side (I Talk to the Wind), and the just plain epic (literal epic) sounding side (the title track). This album is a perfect showpiece of the genre, listenable over and over again while never getting old in the process. [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] Meddle - Pink Floyd Some of the best psychedelic/progressive rock songs of Pink Floyd's post-Barrett era, concluding with what is probably one of my favorite songs of all time (Echoes). Those who do not like the intensity/strangeness of early Floyd will not find refuge in the album's A side, but Echoes (taking up the entire B side) is an absolute must for those who are fond of progressive rock. Echoes:
The Beatles - White Album I would explain, but I have a feeling that it has already been done to death by now so whatever. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon A perfect album. The whole thing is structured fantastically. Beginning is very evoking and the solo in Time makes me wanna cry. Great Gig in the Sky is strangely attractive and unique. Every track is so good it is almost overwhelming, though I feel that Us and Them and Any Colour You Like are good tracks to give the listener a break, before ending epically on Brain Damage and Eclipse. Pink Floyd - The Division Bell An often misunderstood album. No this isn't the classic Floyd like back in the 60's and 70's. Roger Waters is no longer signed on and the members have developed heavily by 1994 anyway. But I'll be damned if this wasn't an epic album. The album dwindles on both hopefulness and hopelessness and optimism and pessimism. Gilmour's guitar does not fail to deliver. Special tracks are Lost for Words, Division Bell, What Do You Want From Me, and Keep Talking. Maroon5 - Songs About Jane I'm pretty surprised how attracted I am to this album. But no song is a filler here. Ironically I found the best songs to be the ones that weren't singles. These songs you can tell were powered by either bitterness or longing. And the lead guitar tracks are unforgettable and catchy. Best songs are Shiver, Tangled, The Sun, and Sweetest Goodbye. Jethro Tull - Stand Up I often find this album overlooked in their catalogue by fans. Truthfully, I have never found a album that does classic rock than this one does. I love it. We Used to Know is a magnificent stand out and features a fantastic solo. Best song includes that one, A New Day Yesterday, and For a Thousand Mothers Buckethead - Enter the Chicken Combine Buckethead with singers, you get awesome results. He leaves out of his usual eccentricity is some of the songs, but you get a powerhouse of awesome guitars and emotional depth. Running From the Light is incredibly dramatic and a favorite. Botnus is intense and makes you want to bust through your window Best songs include both of those, We Are One, Waiting Hare, and Nottingham Lace. Only fault in the album is the pointless "I am nothing" interlude in Coma. Joy Division - Closer An album made infinitely sadder once you learn that the singer/lyricist committed suicide two months before this album's release. Ian Curtis' vocals are deep and baritone and strikes true. Great album. Best songs are Isolation, Twenty Four Hours, Heart and Soul, and Atrocity Exhibition. Abney Park - Aether Shanties The band's second album after turning into their steampunk personas. I do not think steampunk is really a music genre, but this album has some of the most addicting songs I have ever heard. Special mention of Until the Day You Die for somehow working 40's cancan(?) vocals into a very interesting and unusual song. Best songs include that, Under the Radar, Building Steam, The Clockyard, Throw Them Overboard, and Aether Shanty. Dark Sanctuary - Les Mémoires Blessées Great darkwave album. Very melancholic. Features strings and soft female vocals. Album is very consistent. Will be a favorite if this is your thing.
Already been explained to death, it's just a great album. Why? Because Iron Fucking Maiden :colbert: But seriously I love all the songs off the album. Bruces vocals are amazing and Steve fucking Harris is my idol. Just listened to Aces High and now I'm on 2 minutes to midnight and just hearing that bass fills me up with joy. A great fucking album. All the anger put into this album makes it fantastic. The lyrics are aggressive and fast and the double bass gets me going. Songs like One and Dyers Eve are a thrill to headbang to. To Live is To Die is full of emotion that really gets through to you. It's a shame their next album wasn't quite like this, (don't get me wrong I love the black album, quite amount of good songs on it.) Fantastic debut album. Sebastian Bach has some really awesome vocal work on it, the guitars solos are kick ass and the lyrics are catchy as fuck. My favorite album by Megadeth. Already has been posted quite a few times through out the thread so no need to go into detail. Where do I begin. I always listen to this album when walking home everyday, catchy as fuck songs you can't get out of your head. Serj does awesome vocals and Darron does some neat guitar work. I love this album so much. After listening to it the first time I had to listen to it again. I showed all my mates and got a couple addicted to them as well. I just love the melodic peaces in this album.
Every album I have listened to more than once. http://en.wikipedia.org/Schizo%27s_Brain

Most likely posted these before, but still: Brilliant modern take on prog rock. All the songs seamlessly transition in between each other, and all sound consistently brilliant from start to finish, building up a great climax at the end with the 4-part "Willing Well" suite. Very chill and mellow, quite atmospheric. Definitely my fave R.E.M. album.
i love those two albums, we have the same taste in music, definatly my favorite coheed and cambria album. though i'd have a hard time choosing between automatic for the people or out of time by R.E.M. i really love both.
My favourite R.E.M. album is Murmur.
I haven't listened to Murmur yet. Reccomendations? Monster is really good, too.
Definatly listen Out of Time, if you haven't already, such a great album.
What album is this? I keep seeing it posted, and am intrigued.
Death from Above 1979
You're a Woman, I'm a Machine is the name of the album. It's their only album so far but they've a few EP's. Broke up for about 5 years and recently reformed, don't know if they're working on anything now.
Death from Above 1979
Listening to Blood on Our Hands right now. Sounds great! Thanks, man.
Tells a story no other album could possibly ever do. and no I knew about them before the grammys, actually bought this album a few months before it won.
In terms of sampling on a grand scale, you cannot beat these two.
