Honestly if you've played the demo, you'd see that the story of different characters kind of changes the style a little bit. I was laughing hysterically at the good work part though, that animation just looks so out of place too.
No, it's crippled gameplay. Humans can move and shoot at the same time. Making your character be able to do less than any human could do just to make it "scary" is crippled gameplay.
Remember in the beginning of Resident Evil 4 when you are fighting off those near infinite amount villagers in that small little house using a pistol with a few extra rounds and a shotgun with barely any ammo? That wouldn't have been as freaky if you could just run around, it would just be another shoot 'em up game.

We might as well switch to ABCDEF keyboards because QWERTY is just completely retarded.
You can walk while holding your guns in Dead Space and i find that game far more intense than the original resident evils where you're nailed to the floor.
Sure, dead space isn't really scary but i never found resident evil scary either. It's just intense as fuck

and if i was nailed to the ground in dead space and couldn't move while shooting i probably wouldn't play it because it just wouldn't be fun

It wouldn't even matter what layout the keyboard would have because the keys would practically be the same for movement and all that jazz.
I'd love to see Conan do more of these, it was god damn hilarious.
Not being able to move while aiming is retarded as hell. If you need to cripple gameplay to make the game scary, then maybe your game is not all that scary. All it does is make things a little bit more tense, but a proper game design wouldn't even need this "feature" to be tense. Being able to slowly walk while you're surrounded is just as tense as being nailed to the ground.
Older REs were "scary" because the controls often fucked up or were overall rather poor. It was tense because you were about to die because the aiming was hard as fuck to control.
Yeah fucking in Amnesia you could have just hit that scary fucker with the lamp. Fucking broken gameplay.
That would be a stupid move as your lamp would break and then you'd most likely die. Now on the other hand moving while aiming is not stupid and makes a lot of sense.

But in Amnesia you're told by yourself that fighting against it is futile.
In Resident Evil you're suddenly nailed to the ground when aiming with your weapon because ____ ?
Because it's a broken mechanic that doesn't do anything, it doesn't add anything beside leave the player wondering "why is this even a thing?".
Yeah fucking in Amnesia you could have just hit that scary fucker with the lamp. Fucking broken gameplay.
That wouldn't change anything, Amnesia isn't combat focused so the fact that there's no combat changes anything. Resident Evil is all about the combat, crippling the player just to make the combat more challenging is bad design.
Compliment button is my new favorite game mechanic
