Allied Air Forces However assuming that the Reich had endured the war succesfully and long enought to build such...thing. The Germans would have wrestled the allied air superiority away with their new generation of fighter planes. And the tank would be obviously surrounded by atleast a division of Fallschrimjägers and tanks, and would probably serve as huge bait for the hostile air forces to waste their numbers on the thing while Luftwaffe has it's offical "kill anything moving above 80 meters without swastika" day.
The thing would have never been used in combat if it was made, it would have been like those massive french tanks, just used to raise moral and pride. It's wildly impractical, if the war lasted long enough for them to get it out of a factory, they would have had to deal with the Allies new wave of jet fighters, YP-80's and such.
Since we're all posting fictional tanks, May I present, the Prowler. The fastest main battle tank roaming Auraxis, and can fire ordnance faster than you can say "Fuck the NC". It's plating is thicker than the skull of a Vanu, while maintaining the sweet speed every Republican has learned to love.
Mako > All tanks
Mako > All tanks
Bounciest, most rubberized tank ever. 0/10 would not ride.
This Japanese Type 10 tank looks pretty cool.
It's like a futuristic version of this
IIRC the design for the Leman Russ MBT was based on the british MK III/V tanks, but with a turrent added.
I guess this kinda counts as a tank, considering how it's tracked and probably has thicker armour than a Pzkpfw 2. I present to you, the Karl Gerät 40. That is a 600mm gun. A single shell weighs two tons. This is what came out after a Sturmtiger fucked a Maus.
I was thinking here, if any of these tanks get hit by another tank in the upper moving part where the barrel is, how truly fucked beyond repair do these tanks get? [editline]11th August 2012[/editline]

Like this tank right here. If it took a hit from another tank shell to the machine-gun area of the upper part, what then? How fucked would it get? (not to mention the drivers)
Like this tank right here. If it took a hit from another tank shell to the machine-gun area of the upper part, what then? How fucked would it get? (not to mention the drivers)
It'll knock out commander's optics and damage the machine gun. If it actually penetrates, it'll kill the commander.

(not to mention the drivers)
If you're talking about the turret ring, it'll break the turret ring and the gunner won't be able to move the turret anymore. If the shell actually penetrates past the turret ring it would probably kill a few crewman. If you're talking about the copula, if it hits it it will knock out optics for the commander, if it penns it will kill him.
Not to mention that taking a hit from another tank will probably result in in a lot of noise and discomfort inside the tank regardless of penetration. Also taking out the optics would result to the gunner and/or commander having a very bad day.

Does the Paladin howitzer count as armour? I'd have thought that mobile artillery is separate to armour.
Does the Paladin howitzer count as armour? I'd have thought that mobile artillery is separate to armour.
They still need armor, you're not rolling a SPG through a city with nothing a canvas to cover the engine and crew
Newest Indian arjun mk2, looks like a cross between leopard 2 and T-90

I think my favourites are M18, ARL 44 and PT-91, though that last one is just a modified T-72M. [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] Also T28 which got posted here earlier.
The T-28 is just a sick design, especially with the duel treads.
and PT-91, though that last one is just a modified T-90
Well, the PT-91 is a modified T-72M but not T-90.
