Except you can't remember a damn thing from those days.
Get her learning a second language at a young age I assume that your flagdog is wrong and that you are in America so Spanish might be a good choice. Learning a second language is much easier at a younger age.

Apparently he finds them annoying in that stage, when they turn 13 it's fine.

actually is it possible to teach your kid another language by speaking it around them as frequently as english? i plan on being fluent in french (and maybe swedish) by the time i have a kid and it'd be cool if i could somehow get him/her a running start on everything
You know theres this thing children can do called reciting. As in they can remember the abc song and be able to count to 20.
If the child actually knew what the numbers and letters are that would be impressive.

Actually, I was showing her PICTURES of the letters, she KNEW them. I wasn't saying them and having her recite them, she was saying them from the cards.

So? Its just more reciting
The child does not know what a letter is, just what it looks like.

Seriously if the child had a real grasp on language it would be something. But thats like showing a kid a picture of a dinosaur and them reciting dinosaur. They know what it looks lile and can associate words with pictures but the kid knows jack shit about what a dinosaur is because hes two years old

isn't that what reading is? Reciting from memory?
we just do it in a more complex way as our brains add "Rules and regulations" of spelling. Isn't it close enough at least?
Not really... It's a simple association.
[editline]30th August 2013[/editline]
Basically it's the same thing as a child who is this age as is traumatically afraid of clowns shitting themselves as they run away screaming
[editline]30th August 2013[/editline]
It may essentially stem from the same place but the two are so radically different in complexity that they might as well not. This is still the ether of infancy

Maybe you could start by reciting common sense.
Start what I already started?
And saying the truth is being a dick?
They're the ones who made the mistake of having kids to begin with. Then presumably to make up for such a horrible mistake they grasp onto anything that would make it worth it.
That's being a dick. See the difference? The judgements arent kept to myself.
Also that was a rhetorical example. Even though it is my opinion it isn't officially in this thread. Otherwise I'd be being a dick.

This is a dumb post, from a dumb user, with a scrambled brain.
I request that he should get banned.

1. Reciting is me saying A and her repeating A. Me showing her a picture of the letter A and then D and her knowing the names of those letters is her actually knowing the visual representation of those letters. Does she know what those letters mean? Of course not, she's 22 months, moron. But for her just to know that those visual indicators represent the word "A" or "D" is advanced in and of itself for a 22 month old child. A 22 month old child understanding the concept of language isn't advanced . . . it's Einsteinian. You obviously have no concept of early development.
2. Who made a mistake of having a kid? I'm 34 with a full-time job making quite a decent living. You're literally clueless. Is that a horrible mistake? I think the larger mistake is you thinking you know anything about my (or anyone else's) situation, jackass.
You know I wouldn't think personally that you made a mistake if you hadn't posted it [b]here[/b]. This isn't just the Internet where you show a bunch of people something for validation... You're showing facepunch. Mainly pseudo intellectual immature angsty kids.
Sounds like buyers remorse to me
Why is a 34 year old hanging out here to begin with?
[editline]13th September 2013[/editline]
and getting defensive to an insane degree and calling me names only furthers this point.
I kinda feel sorry for your child because I'm getting a bit of a read on what kind of person you are.
In which language?
When I was 2 or so I could count to 10, but that was in two different languages and I spoke them both.
I did not know the alphabet, I only wrote names as if they were drawings, missing lines and such because I did not understand how letters worked.
I'd say she's normal, perhaps a little more depending where she grew up.
I remember in the preschool when I was 4 (everyone else was 5 and 6) the others could only count to 10 which is pretty low for their age.
Why are people arguing in here? Be proud of the man being proud of being a father, it's a simple thing to enjoy, something nice and people have found reasons to conflict over this
