oh god i need to rember to read this i think i stopped 50 pages in
Please keep reading. It gets so good. Feel free to ask questions, but check the OP for homestuck.txt which is a basic summary up to Act 6. The wiki also has a recap of all the character actions if you get confused about what happened in a certain section. Cheers!
more like 6674
Doesn't homestuck start on 1902?
Doesn't homestuck start on 1902?
Yeah, but he didn't say he got 50 pages into the game, I'm pretty sure he meant he got 50 pages into the comic.
Yeah, but he didn't say he got 50 pages into the game, I'm pretty sure he meant he got 50 pages into the comic.
Oh dear god he wont be done for weeks
Hell, I'd play it.
Also, if Homestuck ended up a show of sorts, what would have to change? Would it ruin it necessarily? Pesterchum would need to change into a Skype client with no webcam options or something. Typing quirks would simply represent ways of speaking and accents, and all the same jokes would still apply. Some sequences with multiple chats at the same time would have to change, though. The best way to make it work would be to make Pesterchum less like Skype, actually, and more like one of those walky-talky programs, in which you can directly talk to people. Memos would work the same way. The Narrator would either be a voice in the story, or many sequences would have to be entirely silent (like WALL-E), or we would have to give voices to the carapaces. I am thinking way too much of this.

For one thing, there'd be a ton of talking, and a ton of the humour would be lost without the narration, which is all important in the storytelling. You could probably translate some of the quirks into the speech, but it'd be a bit weird.

The time-shenanigans present in memos would make no sense animated unless you read it all as text or had the narrator explain it, and it would also take forever to get through any sizable chunk of story through animation without having to cut out craploads of it. It's just not practical, Homestuck is very heavy on reading. Also, Pesterchum is lots of fun. :P
The memos would just have the same person yelling at eachother, with others piping in. Like there would be two Karkats on screen divided in the middle or something. I dont think the quirks are too big a problem, only a couple of them would lose comedic value. The narration+Command aspect is impossible though, to completely solve.
The Felt would be scrapped, with the exception of Snowman, because she's the black queen. The troll's ancestry would be scrapped too, 'cause while the analogs between the actions of ancestor and descendant are cool, they're ultimately unnecessary for the plot. The ancestry would probably be revealed when Act 6 Act 2 rolls about in the story as the original trolls are introduced as Sgrub players. I think gameplay of Sburb would be heavily truncated or barely elaborated on, or both. Stuff like echeladders and boondollars would be irrelevant, unless it focuses on Dave's exploitation of the LoHaC exchange. The only important leveling-up would be godtier ascension. Oh boy I don't even know how to represent Cascade. The exiles would be silent, shown in short cuts with lots of grunts and gestures and whatnot. Their communication would be all visual. Speaking of, the exile's backstories would be heavily condensed. WV would be introduced with quick shots of his mural and Can Town, and then, he would proceed to freak out about the countdown. It might work out well to use Doc Scratch as the narrator up until Cascade. He has the scrapbook which shows all the happenings of the story until Slick's entrance, so it would make a lot of sense plot-wise to have him fondly regarding the history of the game until Slick arrives. I suppose things that happen after breaking Slick's jaw would be shown by moving photographs on the floor, which the camera would zoom in to and fill the screen with, switching between. Jeez, though, Hivebent might have to be put only through quick flashbacks during conversations with Karkat and the others, explaining how they got to where they were. Act 5 would get a lot shorter then.
i think homestuck could work as a turnbased rpg like early final fantasy or persona [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] the presence of talking sprites already reminds me alot of persona

Homestuck wouldn't nearly be as good in any other form of storytelling
Cascade could be done like a two part episode finale thing where they follow John and Jade for the first part and then Dave, Rose and The Trolls for the other. Homestuck could really work better as a Text Heavy RPG.
I've always thought that if I handled Homestuck as an animation, it would really just be an animated version of it. I figured that narration would be a necessary thing, and that the chatlogs could be something that people scroll through and read at their own pace, rather than being spoken. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] Heroes: Reach god tier. Unfortunately, the Codpiece of Space is not viewable. [sub]Also my adventure updated.[/sub]
We all know homestuck could ONLY be properly represented as a vidya game. Made by the same team who worked on the mother series.
if homestuck was a video game it'd have to allow you to play through your own sburb session w/ randomized titles, planets, etc
update [sp]gamzee what the fuck are you doing there[/sp]
Oh man that update. I laughed too hard at the [sp]options when Gamzee wants to be your guide.[/sp]
-snop-
The codpiece. Hussie wasn't joking. Oh god.
holy fucking shit he's actually wearing it this is awesome and I don't even care why he's there right now
Well at least we know where he went. ... Did we ever see his dream self get killed?
how the fuck did he get there though?
perhaps he used the troll corpses to construct his own gory quest-bed
