Really sorry for you, I was really upset when my syrian hamster passed away. And I really dont want to be a dick or anything, but facepunch isnt your blog
Nooooooooooooooooo... I loved this dog. It was always so friendly to me :(
She's adorable, I'm sorry for your loss. You made the right choice to end her pain, though.
Just... what makes it suck so fucking much is that it just happened so quickly! I had no time to prepare myself, or make the most out of our last days together.
It's always like this. Don't loose your mind about it. You couldn't have possibly known. This one particular thought is really common. "It happened so fast". I know exactly how you feel. Honestly, there's nothing one can do about it. That's just how life is, unfortunately. But Diamond didn't suffer, which is very important. You have my condolences.
I've had to have 2 pet cats euthanised due to thrombosis caused by genetic heart defects. They were the last 2 offspring of our remaining cat (2 had to be given away because we couldn't afford to keep them). Haven't experienced to this point a worse feeling than coming home to find the second cat crawling on the floor, back legs seemingly paralyzed, miaowing in what could only be described as sounding like complete agony, and knowing from experience exactly what was going to happen next.
Rest in peace, buddy.
fuck you op stop trying to make me cry ):
Aw man, I'm sad now. :( Sorry to hear about your loss man, I've had to put down two dogs too (chocolate lab and cocker spaniel) and it really sucks. RIP.
Damn op, the dog sure was cute. I 'm sorry for your loss
Had to do the same to my Boxer dog a few months back. It's horrible, I'm sorry for the loss man.
It only gets easier from here.
We planted these flowers in a spot she always used to go to in our yard. [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/diamond8.jpg[/t] It's right next to the little covered gazebo we have, so we can see it whenever we eat outside. You can't see it in this picture but right below the sign is her favorite half deflated basketball. She could hold the whole thing in her mouth, and none of the other dogs could ever take it cause it was so big.
Actually shed a few tears, we're going to have to do the same thing with my Miniature Schnauzer soon, I almost can't stand to think about it. You did the right thing, OP.
My Black Labrador, Piper, had to be put down in 2006 because she developed a tumor in her stomach.
I know the pain. I had to euthanize my mostly-healthy 12 year old German Shepard mix back in February. She had no problems except bad hips, but she kept falling. My heart goes out to you OP. [t]http://i.imgur.com/NlUtO.jpg[/t]
For my dog's whole life she has been sick. No one ever could figure out what was causing it, but she had a respiratory problem causing her to over-produce mucus which was getting progressively worse as she aged. For 12 years she has been coughing to free up her lungs, but yesterday she couldn't cough without bringing on pain and started howling while she was coughing and choking. We knew she didn't have much time left by her constant moaning and constant drooling and decided to drive to the only vet that was open 20 minutes away, but she couldn't make it and suffocated on my lap and in my arms on the way to the vet. Her name was Pogo and she lived for 12 years, born June 2, 2000, died June 24th, 2012. Nothing could have prepared me to watch her die like that in front of me. Even though it was a matter of minutes, it felt like forever, being as stressed as I was and not being able to do anything. God I wish I could go back in time a week and spend every moment that I was away back at home with her, not on the computer. She was with me practically my whole life and saw me though all my schooling, including my first year of university. I wish she were at least here for this last week, my last week of my first year of university, the warmest week we've had yet so far of summer, but now feels so cold. I know that feel OP. RIP
I've lost three pets in similar fashions. Our family Golden had to be put down when I was six because he was covered in enormous, oozing warts. He was also close to sixteen at the time. My bird died last year due to old age, at 13 (massive props to our very own Loco and Pascall, they really helped me through that), and my favorite cat of our three became diabetic and had a stroke shortly thereafter. I can safely say I know from experience that there is no good way to go through this, so here's what I told myself then: They lived long, happy lives in a loving home were the best friends anyone could ask for. I'm 100% positive the same can be said for Diamond.
My heart goes out to you and your family. Those years must have been great for you, and I know every one of them was great for her. Know that even though she is no longer with you in body, she will always be there in your memory. My dog and I grew up together, we were born in the same year, near the same day. We were best friends. Saying goodbye to him was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
My girlfriend pointed out that Diamond was kind of a guardian dog for my teenage years. It was touching. We got her when I was 11/12, and I'll be turning 20 in October. And we have an Australian Shepherd, Julie, and we got her when my sister was 11/12, and she's turning 17 next month (holy shit 17). That doesn't really explain Daisy, our toy poodle. She's twice as old as Julie (the poodle's 13 or 14), but acts twice as young as her. Seriously, we got Daisy when I was little, and she's been with us ever since. The only actual effect aging has had on her is slightly less black fur. She still acts like a puppy, and I'm starting to think she's feeding on the entire family's life force for youth. Or something like that. [editline]26th June 2012[/editline] Thanks for all the kind words everyone. And my heart goes out to all of you who've gone through shitty times like this. I think this is the saddest thread on Facepunch. Sorry about that.
I know and understand what you are dealing with. I've had many dogs throughout my life. Only recently, a friend of mine had to put down his dog because he accidentally ran him over with a massive John Deere Tractor that completely crushed his lower body, as soon as he realized how grave the situation was, he just ran inside and grabbed his .44 magnum. He told me that the poor dog just closed his eyes and put his head on the ground, waiting for the bullet.
My condolences. I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost my cat. She's 12 years old and has been with me for most of my life. :C I know she's not a dog, and dogs are more affectionate then most cats, but still. She is always there when I'm sad, and I would be devastated if I ever lost her. We did have a red Golden Retriever named Shannon, but she died before I ever really got to know her. I only have very vague memories.
Growing up I had a Keeshond named Rembrandt, Remmy for short (yeah my username). Due to family circumstance I didn't really learn how to be social until I was around 15 years old, he was my best and one of my only friends. When I was 14 he rapidly developed cancer in his lymph nodes, 3 weeks later the vet told us the merciful thing to do would be to end his life. I stood there comforting him as they sedated him to death, nobody else in the family could bare it. You never stop grieving over a loved one but after long enough you learn to deal with it better. Be happy you gave her the quality life you did OP.
You made the right choice.
Better make a thread about it. No, but seriously, I know how awesome dogs are, I'm sorry for your loss. Have a heart:
