Okay Facepunch, alot (or a couple) of you are into space right? Well, a couple of US astronomers have discovered an(other) Earth-Sized planet they reckon is inhabitable. Its in our galactic neighborhood in what scientists call the 'Goldilocks' zone, in which are the key conditions needed to stay alive.
The star it orbits around is smaller than our sun but the other earth is close enough to get heat from it, not too hot, not too cold, just right. No wonder they call it the Goldilocks zone, ammiright? Goldilocks gettit? Ah, okay... :downsrim: But yeah, the planets called Gliese 581g, and it has a mass of around 3 to 4 times of Earth.
193 trillion kilometers away from here, who wants to go in my SSV Normandy to there? But seriously, who's for it? :zerg: <This is what happened last time. :argh:

Hmmm...
The Gliese 581g version of Facepunch has a similar thread up about this right now. Nope, the Gliesepunchers don't have lives either.
well lets get a rocket and wait a few 1000 years and see what it looks like
Let's do an orbital bombing campaign to wipe out all life so earth life can go there.
Every time i see a thread about space i get sad because we will all die before we can have space adventures :saddowns:
Lets call it Facepunch. WE SHALL BE OUR OWN PLANET
Pandorum, anyone?
Lets call it Facepunch. WE SHALL BE OUR OWN PLANET
A planet of everyone I have met on Facepunch... yeah good idea i guess...
Been there done that nothing special.
Lets call it Facepunch. WE SHALL BE OUR OWN PLANET
and bud369 can be our president.....
oh god what the fuck did i just start?

It's so close to its version of the sun that it orbits every 37 days. And it doesn't rotate much, so one side is almost always bright, the other dark.
Temperatures can be as hot as 160 degrees or as frigid as 25 degrees below zero, but in between – in the land of constant sunrise – it would be "shirt-sleeve weather," said co-discoverer Steven Vogt of the University of California at Santa Cruz.
It's unknown whether water actually exists on the planet, and what kind of atmosphere it has. But because conditions are ideal for liquid water, and because there always seems to be life on Earth where there is water, Vogt believes "that chances for life on this planet are 100 percent."

Uhh...You can go first.
Uhh...You can go first.
well since you reminded everyone you can go
There has been another thread discussing this new earth
I'd laugh if it turns out the atmosphere is full of chemicals toxic to us.
I'd laugh if it turns out the atmosphere is full of chemicals toxic to us.
i'd laugh if the planet doesn't even exist
This is quite old, I think I saw some TV show about it...
This is quite old, I think I saw 5 other threads about it...
Fix'd
Lets search for unobtanium
Reach.

You mean Kneepunchers.
Shit are we going to have to fight some split-jaw aliens for it now only to have it fall
Zub zub?
To bad I will die before the space era begins...
