Starcraft and DOTA are both RTS.
Sub-Genre or not.
a sub-genre doesn't mean they are not similar if not the same in some major aspects.
I'm telling you the fact ( no matter what their genres are) they're totally different.
L4d just didn't seem too amazing to be frank.
It's going to be 5 years soon since they left the fan base with a bad taste in their mouth from that cliff hanger at the end of EP2, I'd rather not see a CSS remake, or DOTA 2 being worked on. I would rather see valve wrap up the series that's taken them so far, not neglect it and get a kick out of trolling their fans about it.
It's my opinion, and I understand your opinion. I just feel like valve should really give the HL series some PR again, instead of splitting the fan base apart by reskinning CS and picking up and IP that isn't really an FPS.
I know valve is trying to expand in the types of games they put out, but in doing so, i feel like they could be sacrificing some of the things that makes their games great.
I dunno I feel like you have the idea that Valve owes you something as if you have already payed for the new Half-Life game. I completely agree that we need to see the story progress. It may be taking a long ass time for them to get around to it, but Valve is a business and they do it well. See rise in popularity of zombies? Make a zombie game. See a rise in popularity of online rpg/rts games such as League of Legends? Make a similar game and cash in.
So yeah if you don't like RTS games don't buy DOTA 2. It seems silly to me that people pledge loyalty to a company and then throw a fit because they keep buying all their games without thinking. Or they get angry that they aren't pumping out sequels to the games they like. I dunno what to say besides that you should just wait for Half-Life. Even if it takes forever.

I'm not mad at valve or anything, i am i just disappointed that they are going with trends.
They shouldn't follow these trends to just keep a large cash flow.
They should create these "trends" like they've done in the past. Not follow them.
CS global just seems like they're trying to make some money off a few reskins and revive something old, and DOTA 2 just seems like they want to bank in on the RTS craze. Ill wait patiently for them to make Half life, i just don't think it's very respectable on valve's part to try to cash in on what is "in" when they could just create what is the next "in" instead, like they did in the past.

Oh, well i guess we reached a middle ground.
I guess in the long run, when valve develops more creative IPs in the future, they will have more funds to experiment with because they had some fun with these cash cows.

Sarcasm isn't just reliant on tone.
It can be determined based on context.
It was pretty obvious.
Just out of curiosity is this a League of Legends ripoff?

Just to clear this statement, it's like saying "It's not called a plant, it's grass!" but it is still a plant. But the Dota genre has strayed so far from the RTS genre that it's been defined as a MOBA or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena.

How can we not make fun of this guy?
He has to be a troll
Can we nominate him for the dumbest post ?
I don't like RTS style games. and the art style looks meh, and the gameplay looks meh too.
DOTA 2 should be developed by blizzard, a company that is known for its RTS games, not valve, that is known for its FPS games, that they are neglecting right now by developing this.
The new CS doesn't look too great either, looks like a re-skin to be honest.
Valve is slowly losing their footing in what made them great it seems.
Half life.
not this RTS style game that looks "meh", that splits the fan-base, while making a reskin of CSS.
So that's why i don't like DOTA 2, I think it's a bad move on valve's part. and I don't like RTS games.
I get the RTS thing, but seriously DOTA 2 looks like a Pixar movie. The art direction is absolutely brilliant.
Valve... I am dissapoint.
and i am sumaher , nice to meet you

Now that's to imply that DOTA 2 will be a Cash Cow and definitely not a game to get core moba players back into their zone?
well im going to play some dota for a while , cause you people do my heading...
Also, the phrase is "Head IN", not Heading.
The art style has a lot of effort put into it, that is for sure.
You can tell they spent a long time modeling and textureing
Just the direction it is going just doesn't really perk my fancy.
Spamming TF2 kids like you can stay away from Dota.. or maybe for the promotional hat. Anyway it's going to be a good game, and it IS a good game already.
Sumaher4, Starcraft and Warcraft (1/2/3) are more RTS than DOTA, DOTA is becoming its own genre known as Action RTS basically, with RPG elements as well.
