I would've preferred Mega64's take on a new God of War

did anyone else notice the Fairy solider with the trident?

Why do I have an ear for these things
So glad it wasn't just me that picked up on that.
Why does Norse-Kratos have access to SPARTAN RAGE?
So glad it wasn't just me that picked up on that.

Because he's still the Greek god of war?
This dude is very obviously Kratos so why wouldn't he have Spartan Rage?
of course its norse mythology
he wiped out the whole greek civilisation
so is this a new kratos or did old kratos go to a teleport or something?

"Press L3 and R3 to activate Spartan Rage"
It's the same Kratos.
Spoiler; the kid dies, the guy goes crazy, shaves his beard, and that how events from original trilogy started.
My guess about this game are:
- This is ether an incarnation of Kratos, similar to how different Zelda games have different Links, Zeldas & Ganons ect, or a Kratos that somehow survived GOW3 and settled down in the north and started a new family (the kid refers to him as his father).
- If this is a incarnation of Kratos, He has the pasty skin because [sp]something drove him to kill his wife and was cursed to have her ashes attached to his skin like the original Kratos. Except this time his son was somehow spared. Notice that the kid has a scar on his face? Maybe he was injured but survived? [/sp]
- At some point the son takes over his role as the God of War and we play as him, why would Kratos be gaining XP for such simple tasks? It's the son whose learning the skills.
- If This Norse God of War is connected to the Greek God of War, then would that mean other ancient gods are real in this universe? Imagine God of War with Egyptian or Hindu gods...
Kratos drops in the sea, somehow ends up in one of the nine worlds (probably one of the three realms of the dead), manages to get to the realm of man or to yggdrasil (the latter having a huge ash tree in it, dragons and huge magical stags), and what we see now happens.
I decoded the logo with some research and it does make mentions of yggdrasil and of the god Freyr.

egypt? sumerian?
I think Norse Mythology is perfect for God of War 4. In Norse Mythology there is an apocalypse called Ragnarok. During Ragnarok, the gods were fated to die. Many of the higher gods would go to war and die in battle with the greatest creatures of the mythology. Fenrir breaks free from his chains and devours the entire world. I can't wait to fucking see that in this game.
Yeah, would be cool if you helped the gods defeat the creatures and then they turn on you. Or maybe the other way around since what happened in the older GoW. Fenrir or Oden have to be the last boss.
I personally think that this looks fantastic, honestly it's a nice change of pace, I look forward to seeing more of it.

not as interesting or well known
many more games use norse mythology
Let's be honest, it's time that God of War switches up its combat style. Because the old GoW style essentially became the quintessential formula that everyone copied for action games.
I can't say I've played many games like classic God of War, other than Lords of Shadow what is there? Anyway, at the time GoW's combat was unique and set the bar for years to come. The new combat system looks like a standard slash-and-roll, so hopefully they spice it up with magic and whatnot.

Well I know some more kid-oriented titles were budget ripoffs, like Sonic Unleashed's Werehog sections. It's hard to name some off of the top of my head since that period of time was when I stuck to shooters a lot, though. It seems God of War, Batman Arkham series, and now Dark Souls have become the three main action combat systems people rip off or homage to.

This was something I picked up on as well, to me it seems like just an introduction to Kratos and from there we take over as the son.
People might disagree with me on this, but I really don't want a light hearted forgiving Kratos, I want them to bring the old always angry-kill everyone Kratos
It's just unusual seeing Kratos this calm now after the old games, all I can hope for is the kid dies and Kratos returns to being an angry asshole

If you look closely you can see his rage meter go up when he gets mad at his kid and then he actually takes a second to cool off and the rage bar goes down.
Canonically Kratos was always kind to his daughter though so it's not really that surprising that he wouldn't be a complete angry asshole to his own child.
I'm hype as shit for this but it seems less God of War and more Ryse: Son of Norse.
with the spartan rage mechanic, all we need are some giant knuckles or gauntlets for some spartan smash

Heavenly Sword and Dante's Inferno come to mind.

He was kind to Pandora too.
Getting strong Max Payne 3 vibes from that beard. Wonder if it's combined with uncontrolled alcoholism and herb abuse.

Kratos vs. Gilgamesh and/or Enkidu.
That'd be amazing!
One of the things that you should remember is that the Norse pantheon wasn't really established until far after the Greco/Roman era. So it makes sense that he'd be dealing with things further along rather than going back in time to fight Gilgamesh or something.
Edit:
Not that God Of War needs to make sense.

I'd say it's because he's in a colder climate but he's still got plenty of flesh showing.
Watch as his kid turns out to be called Tyr and is the God of War the title references now.
Watch as his kid turns out to be called Tyr and is the God of War the title references now.
Well, judging by interviews, Kratos is trying to raise his son to be a God of War, so...
This was something I picked up on as well, to me it seems like just an introduction to Kratos and from there we take over as the son.
Yeah there's no reason they'd do that otherwise. He is literally teaching his son how to properly hunt and a popup shows " experience gained ", why would that be for Kratos and not the person being instructed?
