Grandients do work as shading, you just have to take into consideration the lighting and how it affects the colors.

I suppose what I'm trying to say, is that gradients are bad, but [I]sophisticated[/I] gradients are okay.

What hes saying is, gradient is okay ASLONG as its good

guys is this ok for a drill if you want a pic its based on ask i personally think its to big but i cant get it smaller and look right.

Stick to less than 4 colors. And make sure the value, the x axis on the color palette, is about 5 between each. More for brighter colors, less for darker.
It's supposed to be boots & legs, and no, it isn't meant to be that big.
