Well thanks Hasbro. If I needed one more reason NOT to believe you were anything but a bunch of cynical, cigar-chomping fuckheads, this is it.
On top of everything else they've done, the way they've approached this series has been with all the elegance and subtlety of a gang-rape. They've offered ZERO respect to Lauren Faust, when they should be ON THEIR KNEES thanking her for blasting some life into their sorry sack of saccharine shit.
I strolled down the aisles of Target the other day, and decided to pass down the girl-section of the toy department and see what the new toys looked like. Apart from a set of smaller figures, they were basically the old toys made to try in vain to look like the new designs. No effort to apply the new, better art style to their stuff. We've all seen the PINK Celestia, and that'd be bad enough, but most of the toys feature each character while offering playsets with them that are just imaginary settings that have NOTHING to do with the characters, with garish color-choices, like the intense disharmony of a harsh pink on top of a blazing deep purple.
I mean really, are they afraid that old fans and old buyers are going to be too overwhelmed by how different the new designs are?
Hasbro, I kinda' doubt the old fans will mind these new, AWESOME designs, especially when they suffered through the PUTRID SHIT, of the PREVIOUS generation! I won't taint the thread with that shit, but if you look it up, be ready to facehoof.
Hasbro, this had better mean you're making your OWN dedicated Youtube channel for these episodes, or putting them on Hulu or whatever, to better regulate your traffic. Because otherwise, you people shouldn't be running a fucking business. Get the fuck REAL! The show is on a network most people didn't realize EXISTED! You have it on weekends only at 10:30 in the morning! NOBODY would be watching this show if it weren't for what Faust managed to do with it. You lose NOTHING by letting those videos stay up, and GAIN nothing by taking them down! Do you have no understanding of what the Brony phenomenon has, and can STILL do for you? Do you not get that it's convinced certain people beyond your demographic to buy your shit? Do you really have no scope on that? You're just going to cut it off your nose to spite your face?
Really I don't know why I'm even surprised. These are the same assholes who let Michael Bay bend Transformers over a rail. Michael Bay, who's NEVER made a good movie. Michael Bay, who turned down the movie offer by saying "I'm not doing that stupid toy movie." Yeah, they have TWO episodes on the Hub website. If that improves, that's one thing, but they're certainly not on Hulu.
As to the "it's a compny; they makes moniez" deal, I don't think it's wrong to hope or expect that someone take a little pride in their work. I don't accept the inhuman nature of how corporate decisions affect art. Call me an idealist, but I still hold onto the idea that you can win at business by doing what you do well, by being fair to your consumer base and delivering the best product you can, and not just what seems popular and easy to market. This is why I can't root for organizations like Pixar or Valve enough for their standards.
I WANT to be able to root for the great corporations and studios, but I can never respect when they enter the notion of "maximum profits, at ANY cost", like most shit in America has.

The existence of those videos benefited everyone. The vids got the word out, and the fans could watch them. All they do by pulling these videos is shoot themselves in the foot. I repeat: they make LESS money by doing this! It is just BAD...BUSINESS...
