the performance of my 6D
That's the thing. The performance doesn't matter if you don't even have a camera with you in the first place.
While a compact won't be luxurious, it's better than nothing.
Why not look into one?
i wish i had the performance of my 6D in a package like a lumix gf2 format that i could literally put in my jacket pocket and take on nights out. whilst not actually physically possible, it's a good thought. so many shots i could have got last night that would have been good even just for my friends to enjoy.
Sony RX1. The performance is even better.
Sub Focus last night was awesome, Chase and Status even had a surprise 45min set ontop of the whole lineup being secret so that was super cool
think I got some great shots lemme just have a quick flick through and

Just finished my walk yesterday.
180 miles. 11 days across the north downs way in Southern England. Camping every night. Bunch of crazy stories.
Shot 16 rolls of film and a bunch on my digital.
Knowing me, you guys won't see them for a long time - the same as everything I shoot. But one day.
Wondered why you were so vacant on here recently! Look forward to hearing about it man and seeing photos... eventually.

That's no walk, man. That's a trek. I can't wait to see those photos!
I need to excercise more. I'm not fat in the least but stairs are still my arch nemesis. I'd probably be fine biking that distance over time but still
I've been thinking about putting a kinetic bike trainer in my room and putting a stand for my laptop so I work out while a browse. If it charged my laptop while I did it, that would be double cool.

Every morning just walk for an hour or something and then just eat fruit more - simple stuff like that really helps.

porridge for breakfast everyday, walk everywhere, bike to work (6 miles up and down hill), biked home once (40 miles Leeds to York) as well as going for a bike ride every week with mates. Eat fruit for snacks and drink water mostly - I'm quite healthy for a student haha

I say this after having meat and chips for tea with a pint of cider haha
My metabolism is naturally great I don't have to try I am so blessed
my metabolism is a bit too great i am always underweight
i havent been exercising at all for about 6 months and im kinda flabby, ever since i got disposable income, i eat all the time, and i think thats the problem. The times where i was the most fit were summers where i ate 1 meal a day because i would wake up so late, and then i would go ride my bike.
i need to ride my bike again
[editline]1st May 2014[/editline]
but fo real, fuck lifting weights, you will never see me do it
Lifting is fun man if you really get into it. Trained for a good 4-5 months last summer with my brother (he's a fitness buff (pun intended)) lifting everyday with him and going for long bike rides/skating sessions.
i used to mountain bike, but i sold it for my a7 :v:
so ive decided to not go to europe this summer, put the money in my college fund and get a job instead
my dad said I could work with him (in time square, business related stuff including 1 or 2 business related trips) for $10.10 an hour but my mom said she doesnt want me working with him because divorced parents
i understand where she is coming from because my dad tries to make life as miserable as possible for my mom in court and is late on child support sometimes but like idk its a hard decision
at some point she cant keep making my ethical decisions for me

someone help im really conflicted and my greed for money is battling with my ethical choices
Your mom's opinion of your dad shouldn't have an effect on your relationship with him. In that case she's being selfish (IMO of course), because their relationship with each other shouldn't involve you really, especially in the case of biased disclosure. You don't have to be on a side, and your parents shouldn't be trying to put you on one. Money aside, it doesn't seem ethically wrong.

yeah, I freaking love lifting. Ever since I started it for weight loss, I truly enjoy it and the feeling after it is always refreshing. Went from 200lbs to 165lbs. Honestly, the key to fitness is just eat more good food and less bad food, and overall less food than you need if you want to lose weight. and do some sort of weight lifting (preferably) or cardio regularly.
I don't need to lose weight, I more than anything need to gain weight. I'm muscle-less.
so i'm digging through lightroom stats right now and my most used camera settings are pretty funny. this only includes my RAW files, so it's missing a lot of my old Nex stuff because i used to shoot jpg only. there's 6139 total.
1/3rd of my shots are at ISO 100, and 1/6th are at ISO 200 (base ISO of nex 5). my 3rd most used ISO is 1600.
1/3rd of my shots are with adapted lenses (including paid work). my most used lens however is the 16-50mm 2.8, which beats out my use of all adapted lenses.
my most used aperture is f2.8.
my most used shutter speed is 1/60th of a second, making up about 1/7th of all my photos.
my most registered used focal lengths are 50mm (1/6th of the time) and 16mm (1/12th).
9/10 of my photos do not use flash
so most often i am at ISO 100, f2.8, 1/60th of a second, and 50mm. when combining all of these variables together, this photo is representative of my most common camera settings. however, this is also the only photo out of the 77 that match these settings to not actually use a flash!

I don't want to tell you what to do, ultimately life choices are to be made by you, but in this situation I'd say go for it - work with your Dad. It will help you keep ties to both of your parents and to be honest mate, working for $10 an hour on times square will be so awesome, what a great opportunity. Sucks that your parents are split though mate, hope all is well for you.
as someone who grew up with divorced parents that were constantly bitter about each other, It wasn't wise to take one's advice regarding me and the other parent. They can fight it out all they want, but forcing their drama on you is childish and never warranted.
plus, it's a job around TS. Even if it's low wage right now, just working in the area is a golden mark on your resume
Ok, small time wedding tomorrow. Taking my 6D with 24-105L and 50mm 1.8, spare battery and SD card. (It's only bride getting ready, ceremony and then outside church)
Tips / Tricks / Last minute things please!
Initial thoughts, shoot bride getting ready on your 50, the ceremony on the 24-105 and the group shots outside on it too - then just do portraiture of the guests on the 50 till the end. When shooting, don't hesitate - you're there for a purpose and that purpose is to shoot photographs. Look at your photographs rarely, you might miss a moment. And make sure your cards are 100% clear before hand!
Snap wise, snap a lot.
Get an itinerary of the events for the day, you want to be sure that you know what time everything is happening at. Try to get photos of the dress and the rings. Get good shots of the bride getting ready, the more the better (so if there are focusing errors or something you can get it fixed). When I assisted a few weeks back neither me or the main photographer took photos of the guests, enough guests bring cameras to where that isn't really necessary and doing so can distract from photos of the bride and groom (which are by far the most important thing to take photos of as they are the true clients). That was more of a policy of his (communicated to the clients of course), though definitely not an absolute rule. Right after the ceremony get photos of the couple with their bridesmaids and groomsmen, then photos of them and their families, then portraits of the bride and groom together. The reception is the boring part, just kind of flash and shoot and whatever. A few dance photos, but mostly focus on the speeches, cake cutting, flower toss, and the garder thing. Then departure if they have anything special for that.
Use a flash!!!! A bounce flash is super important for indoor shots. I would use the 24-105mm for most of the entire thing, as you'll need to shoot stopped down anyway for the portraits including more than one person, and zoom will make composition easier (for group shots try and stay above 35mm though).
speaking of, I'm trying to get Gaboer to do my wedding photos. I think he just has to clear junk with his parents, heh
