Well it will let you know if there's any way of saving it, if you can't boot into safe mode theres not much than can be done
also have you tried resetting the pram as lain suggested?

Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I'm going to try resetting that right now...can't enter into safe mode. :/

If that doesn't work, boot back into recovery by holding the alt key when turning on until a menu appears, choose recovery, then choose reinstall osx
you won't lose any files like photos or documents etc, however you might need to reinstall some programs
I've tried reinstalling OSX and it gives me a choice of all these weird disks except for Macintosh HD... :(
maybe your HDD is conked out? i don't know what model you have but try seeing if the connector has come loose
if there's an exclamation point anywhere during startup it can't find the boot drive. sounds more like it's failing though if it gets halfway

How can I check if a connector came loose? I don't see any exclamation points anywhere...
Also, I have a, I think, 2009/2010 Macbook.
school ended at 12:30 so they could do some bullshit carnival thing no one wants to go to
they had staff at nearly every exit and you couldnt leave (even if you're a senior and drive to school) unless you had a pass from your parents
me and 2 friends snuck under a fence, through a backyard, and onto a road and waited for his mom to get us when a cop saw us near the school and sent us back
me and one friend snuck through same fence 5 or 10 minutes later, went though same yard and ended up back on the same road, where we sprinted through a neighboring complex/private property while teachers drove around trying to spot kids escaping, until we crossed into the free land and called a cab
fuck modern US schools

Referring to the guy who pushed the photog in, at least he got compensation.
how should i go about properly counteracting the purple tint i get from shooting at a high ISO?
Don't really think there's a good way to do that. What ISO are you shooting at?
You could always just cheat and dump it into B/W :v:
1600 for some night stuff. it's only noticeable in the shadows but it does irk me
and yes, i have shamelessly done that for some things :v
[editline]22nd May 2014[/editline]
past 1600 my camera practically turns anything remotely dark in to a huge purple mess
[editline]22nd May 2014[/editline]
got what i wanted. lightroom has a nifty shadow tint slider under camera calibration
May have to re-buy Lightroom. :/
Anyone think that stupid subscription thing is worth it?
ehhh nah, unless you are a student and can get the student discount
What 'chu askin?
it's a disc that i've never opened so i don't know if i need to ship it to you or if i'll be able to send you the activation codes.
i also think it comes with premiere elements 12 as well. i've got no idea what these two programs costs from adobes own site, but half their pricing or something along those lines sounds fair
pm me if you're still interested, mate.
remeber the guy who borrowed my 32gb sd card and then i lost all contact with?
well i just bumped into him in the hallway and he told me his mom accidentally put my sd card in the dvd drive slot on her imac
he said he's gonna give me his 64gb card for the weekend (because i'm going to a con) but he's so hard to get a hold of i doubt i will get it.

what the christ.
That's not nice.
what did u expect, he stole Freeway Rick Ross' identity for a quick boost in his rapping career.
what the christ.
it used to happen all the time at my old school, the new macs have the sd card slot right below the cd drive so people would put their card in without looking and put it in the cd drive by accident. it would usually take some serious tweezer work to get it out.
Just comment on it and link your flickr or something.
it'll be buried in a bunch of devaluing spammy shills though, I'm not sure anyone will pay it much attention
