what the christ.
happens a lot, people expect the slot to be there and it's the same thickness [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline] i hate the slot loader on imacs. i always think they're broken because they don't pull the disc in until you've pretty much pushed the whole thing in yourself, and it feels like it's broken and the disc is going to get stuck until that point

reminds me of when my school way back in the day got some of those first powerPC mac tower computers in the library. They had slots for Zipdisks, which was crazy awesome because my dad and I used those for our own file storage at the time because [cool new tech]. I decided to use one of those machines (there were only two, in the library), and plugged my disk in to start working on a project. I did my thing, was about to leave, and.... there's no eject button near the slot on the tower. Where's the eject button? Is it an option on the menu? There's no eject! There's no right click to see options for the drive from the desktop??? so I went to get my [elderly and extremely short tempered] computer teacher guy. as expected, he blew a gasket because he thought I jammed a standard floppy in the drive and broke the brand new computer when I finally convinced him to explain at least how it would be ejected, he grabbed the folder for the drive on the desktop and said "if it WAS the right disk, you'd do THIS-" and he dragged it to the trash can I had a heart attack, the disk popped out, and the teacher got even more flustered because he was wrong about the disk who decided that process was kosher

the oldest computer i ever had to work with at school was one of these my elementary school computer lab was exclusively these, and they had a remote floppy drive that connected by firewire, which was necessary because they only had the incredible machine on floppy. they also had sims city 3000, bugdom, and cro-mag rally. at home we had a beige box, and after that we got a lampshade mac. im not that old

Never used much Apple computers other than the new Macbooks. I felt so dumb.
if i recall, those machines had a power button on the keyboard, which is weird.
well the one I used didn't or I never found that feature lol. There was like a button on the left side and it was so hard to find, it just kinda blended in with everything.
the oldest school computer I had to use was an Apple II, at 5 years old I got put in a 3rd grade class and I made the teacher cry because I kept correcting her on terms good times
my school was never able to afford mac stuff, just second grade dell things. my primary school was pretty small though (max 250 students) [editline]23rd May 2014[/editline]
if i recall, those machines had a power button on the keyboard, which is weird.
funny considering latest macbook pro has the power button on the keyboard :v
I'm shooting a horse soon. Should I bring a tele for when it's running around? Do I need that when I have a 85mm? Can you use a flash on horses without them freaking out? It's gonna be interesting. It's not a job, just a random thing for relatives but I haven't been asked for pictures before, so I want to deliver something good.
just dont horse arou
probably depends on the horse, but according to the internet should be mostly alright some suggest firing off a few flashes from a bit further away to make sure the horse does not malfunction before using a flash up close
anyone here ever had their slide film printed? is it worth it or do colours and shadow details get butchered? I'm going to pick up my developed Velvia 50 tomorrow and I'm thinking of sending back a few frames I like while I'm at it.
I haven't printed, but I scanned my slide film and it was absolutely dreadful without a lot of editing. With most labs printing directly from digital scans I imagine that the prints won't be great, I would see if the lab scans and prints or develops directly onto the paper. If its directly onto the paper it should be good, scanning I would be more iffy about
Well then, the Macbook is working again. Yay! :D
Accidentally dropped a SD card in the bin last night whilst attempting to speedily change cards next to a bin thankfully there was nothing on it, it fell right down into it past all the rubbish that was in there, plus I had to get back out there and carry on shooting asap so it was sadly left behind rip 16gb sandisk extreme

mine looked great too, especially when projected, but scanning added a huge red tint to them that required extensive restoration. slides film just doesn't scan in the same way that negative film does. fingers crossed for you, i'm sure they will turn out to be fine (i'm a bit melodramatic), and if not they will likely reprint for you.
I hate it when there is a gorgeous sunset and you can't really see it because you are in the inner-city and the buildings and trees are covering it.
Come to AZ, gorgeous sunsets every day with super visibility
come to EP nothing really gorgeous here, but i'd enjoy your company
i swear snapchat sometimes gives me pretty good ideas for photos from me just fucking around [t]https://24.media.tumblr.com/61168fd3bb654148c817a66c852d071b/tumblr_n63uhukbC01rloa1lo1_500.jpg[/t]
I've never really attempted a serious self portrait before so I wonder if anyone has any idea of how to reproduce something like this? In terms of lights, I mean. I just had a quick go at it with a single lamp and it was nothing near it.
The light on his face is clearly cast from above, try moving the lamp around a bit. Also the light is fairly soft so try diffusing it. Clip the shadows in post.
Look into Rembrandt lighting
make sure you fire a light onto the background as well
