You have to apply 8 or 9 months ahead for a working permission in Turkey and this was the kind of "Hey students I need someone for a 1 month trip quick, ok I'll do it" situation.

Concerning the Film/Digital debate, I clicked a video in this section and now I'm watching a few videos of his and there's this

I know you can follow this advice with digital too but film will always FORCE you to follow it, it's just a different .... workflow(?) . Just can't have that with digital and there will always be people appreciating that.
It's a desire to tell a story that hasn't been told.
My loftiest dream is to be able to document an event that would end up at an overview for this century, like this timeline for the 20th. Nearly everything on that list is something I would consider remarkable.
I want to make sure an otherwise untold story will be told. I want to make at least one single photo that has enough relevance to live on longer than I do.
I've always had this idea, I'd love to have some sort of fame attached to one of my photographs.
I think I would get more satisfaction from doing something, anything meaningful.
Raising awareness* is the most direct way that photography (and all art) can be used in a tangible way to contribute back to society.
*I don't mean campaigning a specific cause or anything like that, but in a more abstract way - In the case of photography that's being a visual story teller. As photographers we are in command of the way the recorded world is visually perceived.
Try to imagine the world without recorded images.
I still remember how much flak I got for "shouldnt we at least strive to give our pictures some sort of meaning" in the main thread, especially from you bopie, it was right after I said that I was bored of well executed, well processed pictures of you sitting in bushes.
Now look at you guys.
Imagine if I'd post something like "You're growing. Embrace the feelings."

Does every photo have to have a profound meaning and deep layers that you have to pierce in order to understand it?
No. We had this discussion.

so is anyone interested in a room in a lovely flat up in north london in woodside park, near finchley/barnet, £125 a week including water and gas, a really quite amazing deal for the property
i wish dude
free entry to clubs comes as standard
If I wasn't still in college I would take up for offer for a while, but plus I don't have much money.
it will effectively die eventually. that's what trog is saying
not that it's just gonna disappear of the face of the earth, but that it's going to be such a small market that it's effectively going to be ignored. as sensor technology advances digital cameras are going to get cheaper and cheaper, and the benefits of film will shrink
and yes, physical reading media is fading ever so slowly. newspapers are becoming much less common as they're replaced with web content. the same isn't happening with books to such a degree, but i guarantee it will eventually
it probably wont die before i do so thats all good holmes
What happened?
I've got a spare 60D if you want to use it for a while
No idea it just wouldn't turn on one day. Never dropped it, nothing. Apparently a fix is to switch the lens and CF card and then it turns on, but i don't have a spare CF card so until that happens then i've got no camera.
I appreciate the offer dude but i never used my 5D anyway, i only use my Canon AE-1P now.
Thanks again!
"Some would say that we’ve crossed the threshold of photos being too abundant," says Jurgenson, who’s now a researcher at Snapchat. "[Years ago] if you saw someone taking a photo you’d stop and say ‘That must be important.’ Now, you convey respect and importance by not taking a photo." from this article
my sincere apologies for quoting a the verge article but i thought this went really well with what bopie said earlier about basically everyone being a photographer nowadays
definitely an interesting read
I think we'll soon (if we haven't already) reach a point where we have to make a distinction between a photographer and a person who takes photos. Everyone has a camera in their pocket these days, but even if it sounds elitist, I don't think that taking selfies in a mall toilet is photography.
No need to make the distinction, worrying about labels is ridiculous.

facepunch gathering at Brighton pride 2k14! :v:
Two weeks in Gaza, got some memories I'd like to forget.
From time to time I try to find peace by fucking around with the camera, taking a picture of myself day after day to see how much I change physically (and mentally.)
