would a polarizing filter stop me from getting crazy lens flare? I took my new rokkor 40mm out last night and any bright light source caused it so i could see all of the lens elements in a purple projection and if it was really direct light and i had the lens was wide open, there was also a halo. I have a video, ill post it.
Do you have a lens hood?
this is a bit exaggerated, but headlights and flood lights were doing this to my lens too. is my lens single-coated!? [editline]19th August 2014[/editline]
Do you have a lens hood?
it wasn't angled light. it was a single source of bright light, like a flood light, far away and causing crazy flare.
Feeling stupid here. Can't get the battery cover or the lens off my new AE-1
is my lens single-coated!?[/editline]
could be, but even multicoated legacy lenses can get flare because coating technology wasn't that advanced back then. my Zuiko glass tends to flare a lot when using filters

A polarizer would not help, but a small hood would. Filters increase reflections by adding another surface, so only the best and most expensive filters will have good flare control (and essentially not add additional flare). Lens coatings also affect light transmission, color, contrast, and microcontrast. Multicoated lenses are typically better in those listed areas. You might need a small plastic object to press this in, but then the door will open The lens either has a release button located on it, or it has a gray ring which you will twist without any presses to unmount

I've read the manual for it, and it suggests using the hot shoe cover (which I don't have)or use your finger to press inward for the latch to open. I've tried pushing it in every direction but it just wont open. As for the lens, it's a Canon FD 50mm. I've tried twisting the silver ring but it doesn't feel like it will move and I really don't want to end up breaking anything.

Pushes outward to the right As for the lens twist it counter clockwise sigh some pressure and it will detach. It is probably just stuck on there and needs some force. The breech lock style doesn't have a lock on it

This fucker is on so tight that the skin on my fingers are more likely to come off than the lens.

if so then yes there is no lock, it's super tight because you can essentially overturn them. It's likely that it was significantly turned, and it's very stuck on there. [editline]19th August 2014[/editline] Also here's a great bit of reading for anyone interested in lens design philosophy. Relevant to the flare on the Minolta 40mm f2 http://www.dyxum.com/columns/other/Historical_perspective_Minolta_lens_design_philosophy.asp
You guys remember a few weeks back when my local pier burnt down? (eastbourne) Well tragically today, someone working on the structure fell to their death. Sad really since this is the only fatallity to come of the disaster. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-28858483
wtf how do labs manage to fuck up prints but get proper contact sheets?? today was the 2nd time a random photo of my roll had a crop which I did not ask for at all... already sent the print back with contact sheet, like really do these lab people even check up afterwards be4 sending out the prints??
Who did your prints? Printing is one of those want-it-done-right-do-it-yourself kinda things. Unless it's a really high-end shop, you need to be okay with a few bumps and bruises every now and again. I'm sure they'll sort you out with a re-print. At least they didn't damage the negatives.
I can understand that but how in an automated process (developing/scanning/colour correction/print) do you end up printing a crop at 200%? twice already. I think the lab is high-end enough but some of the operators must not be the brightest bulb in the box.
Remembered that I have a polaroid camera - I think it's a "polaroid one600". I don't know jack shit about film cameras nor polaroid cameras. After some googling on why it's not working, it says that the film cartridge needs to be replaced. Where would I go about getting film in the UK for this? All listings for film on ebay are from china.
you can't check out impossible project
What do you mean I can't The prices there are in GBP :v: I'm now confused (Thanks for the site though)
Impossible Project isn't even a finished product, the quality is highly inconsistent and it's not even that good quality. You're paying full price for a half finished product. Unless you are after the hipster look then go right ahead.
you can't get original quality like
Oh. Shame, I guess. It'll still be a starting point for me though seeing as I got the camera from a charity shop for a few quid ages ago :v:
We were posting about this a few pages back in the gear thread. I found a polaroid 636 and the only place that makes film for them is the impossible project. only problem is its a little expensive for an inconsistent product. So either take the chance and buy some film or whatever

I survived my month long thing in thailand and laos [editline]21st August 2014[/editline] so did your camera, communist cat. until I dropped it in Bangkok airport on the way back and the meter fell off. body still works though
Awesome, barely feels like its been gone a month, hope you had fun with it.

Fuji's Photokina page says they're going to show off a "full size sensor". If Fuji make a full frame digital I will sell a kidney.
I bought a cheapo pair of sunglasses before going on the thing, I think they've pretty hugely affected my photography there by making everything look amazing. They're not even polarizing, the lenses are just brown plastic but it's some magic shit they do that every view and composition looks sick through them
