Reporting from Huddersfield, and what a lovely place it is! The English people are really nice. Helpful and polite. Weather is shite already though. Yesterday was pleasant and sunny, but today it's musky and grey. I'm loving it all though!
How long are you over for? Get used to the grey haha
us down south have had non stop hot and sunny weather for some reason, last sunday was the only day we actually had greyness
weird, it always get a lot more chilly and wet around this time of year down here...

About 3 months - until Christmas. I'll be studying - Huddersfield University!
Detour up to Leeds if you've got a day or two free mate, it's not the best of cities but it's always cool to meet other facepunchers
So for the cactus I am going to make a case to Garry, and one of the big factors is related to the rating being warranted. How do we warrant the need for a cactus? Just want some opinions so I can draw some inspiration and make a strong case
We're a pretty tight-knit community within facepunch and I'm willing to argue the most tight-knit among all the subforum, but I'm a bit biased. I don't think we're bigger than any of the other subforums with custom ratings so I think we deserve it.

i really need to go out and shoot a cactus. I'm ashamed I haven't ever since I've been here. I think it should be the only pre-requisite to be fully accepted in here lol
We need our own rating I suppose since we are a smaller (but more active) sub forum, and the community we have here in itself are friendly.
And sometimes we do have the odd post that does need more recognition then a simple "winner" or a "artistic".
It probably sounds silly coming from me who has only been around these forums since june when I got my camera, but I dont really feel left out here. If anything it seems like everyone here welcomes new comers, and tries to help them more then just simply welcome them and or make them feel uncomfortable.
i dont' think we need a new rating i mean i don't mind at all if we get one but

yeah seriously, I've only been here since like March and I already feel right at home. Everyone here is so cool, I love you all. And I was really losing hope in Facepunch because all the other parts of the forum were shitholes until I found this place. This place is the best and deserves a glorious Cactus rating.
Also just to clarify, I know the whole "we are pretty much our own forum" thing is thrown around in other sub forums (Airsoft being a prime example) but I think that its harder to find a suitable rating for Airsoft considering the subforum has other topics that might not relate entirely to airsoft, whereas here every topic is either "post your pics" or the general chitty chat threads.

and just incase the whole "cactus" rating doesnt go ahead because it is too far fetched (which I hope it is not)
We could always just have a "Inspiring" rating for this forum and the other creative/art sub forums.

Pretty much everyone does photography right now in the digital age yet not everyone knows how to do source mapping or LUA scripting, not everyone knows about drugs or being high yet these are subforums with their own special rating.
One could say that the artistic rating is enough but artistic can be used for anything, from music to visual arts to even poems. So why not a specific rating for this subforum just as a lot of others?
only cactus knows me true
what about rockwellian x1
is that meant as something positive or negative??
it depends

If anything it's just to help recognise this place as a community that's almost independent from the rest of the forum.
had a lot of fun trying this out tonight, can't wait to go somewhere with less light pollution (not going in main thread cuz it's just a test)

Shouldn't it be out in the Nature? Certainly would look better i guess.

that's very subjective

Funnily enough I did - I went to the Royal Armoury (which was really nice). There's certainly enough to see to warrant a second visit some time soon, especially considering that there's not a single place here that sells film. And I fancy a pint with a fellow facepuncher.

Yeah the Royal Armoury is real nice, it's in probably the nicest looking area of the city. Some proper good apartments around there. Sure thing, hit me up via pm on her mate.
i finished a roll after work yesterday and had a complete brain fart
i opened the film door but forgot to rewind it first
is every shot going to be ruined?
what ISO film? what lighting conditions were you in when opening the back? how long did you have it opened untill closing??
you can kiss boodbye to the majority of your recent shots but the first 10 or so might be untouched.

Depends on a lot of things - I managed to salvage around 25 after a guy opened mine at a party.
