Nikon's 1 series is somehow selling well in some countries so they have no reason really, Canon seems like the more likely candidate as they could easily ditch the EOS-M and just have a pro oriented FF mirror less. I mean in '87 they ditched it all and it paid off, but I'm not sure if they still have the moxie, and I'm not even sure if the market conditions are similar to then.
The longer everyone waits though, the easier Sony has it. Their lens lineup is already catering quite well to a good variety of premium markets (CZ and G zooms and primes, and Loxia as a Leica competitor). If they can get the a6000's AF design done properly on FF then the competition would have to be quite stiff to compete
