Just discovered how useful it is using Raw instead of Jpeg. Seems a lot clearer when post processing images
you seem to be doing b/w at the moment, so you can make so much use of raw you wouldn't believe it. don't be afraid to really push the ISO up, because you won't have to deal with coloured noise or anything.

hell yeah 3200 ISO on crop sensors is just fine, just gotta learn to work those curves and noise reduction.
thanks guys, I gotta admit using raw has started getting me to push my ISO's now, I cant wait to take my camera out soon for a proper day shooting. should be a lot of fun processing them now

Fucked up a cheque presentation photoshoot with an MP...Really pissed off with myself
what happened
Basically i got called at half 11 last night to do a cheque presentation photoshoot at 9 in the morning they said it was just the manager of the business and the local MP, I said that was fine came down the next morning and 13 people were there including soldiers doctors and the owners of the local gym's. The owner of the pub pretty much demanded that the photo's were inside to promote his pub and wouldn't have it any other way so i had to use my 1970's 24mm lens that i'd just got off ebay to get everybody in.
due to the general stress i checked the images thought they were alright but didn't zoom in on faces and stuff got home and their faces are just completely out of focus. and the MP wants to send them over to BBC news tonight. /longstoryover
Shooting a local pub tomorrow night for a little bonfire/firework evening, should be some fun

sharpen and shrink the file size, they're for web so it won't matter much
shit happens
dont forget to bump up that clarity, could work wonders.

Actually made me feel alot better, Cheers dude
Like I can't stress enough that any picture existing at all is really what most people look for in event situations. There's only so much quality that can truly be had, and it's more about the sentiment in those cases. If you are really stressing, just learn from what you did wrong and you can apply better next time. Mistakes are essential to getting better, and being self aware does mean that you have room to grow, unlike those who perform poorly and don't care. Honestly the fact that it bothers you just shows that you do care about delivering high quality, and that's great and commendable.
You did your best, learned some things, and you're getting some photos on BBC! That in itself is great accomplishment. Proud of ya buddy

So when that person spilt beer on my a7r apparently my front dial broke. I don't use it since I have all manual lenses but this sucks.
Seems to be working now, cleaned it a bit and it dried out. Not very smooth (never really was) but functional, false alarm

I think last night I topped the scale of getting ridiculously drunk and making a fool of myself
jesus christ
highlights include paying a girl £60 to take my camera off me and never give it back
she gave it back though
and the money

yeah dude what if she actually took your camera, you'd be out of a camera and you'd have paid £60 to see it go.
