don't have to wear my dumb plastic cast thing when I'm just sitting in class/when I'm at home, i have a hand again omg
so i'm going to this interview tomorrow at a photography school. i'm supposed to bring 20 photos to show 'em and this is my selection so far.
https://asbjrn-andersen.squarespace.com/kts
please tell me if any of the photos suck and should be changed out.
[editline]11th November 2014[/editline]
i'm also bringing cv and a recommendation from an earlier teacher. anything i'm missing here, or should i just focus on selling myself from here on?
the only one I don't think is as strong as the others is the b/w skateboard shot - it seems real cliche. on top of what you've got just talk about your influences and what your aspirations are, be confident - you got this bro.

What I'm personally worried about is that the photography school is not going to teach you much new. The only thing they can really teach you is how to sell yourself and your products.
So think about it if there really is much gain in starting a photography course or if it might be better to start a course that's also part of visual arts but something you have not started learning yet.
Also also, ask the people who are interviewing you to show them their portfolio. If they refuse or make up excuses then IMO you shouldn't take them that seriously.

Don't forget some of the (IMO) best photographers did not go to photography school.
ps I took a graphic design course even though I really aspired to do a photography course, but so far I don't have any regrets with my choice.
I'm going to state school to learn photography. Its cheaper than art school but I heard they have a good program.
why not go out and take photos
i do realize that it probably won't teach me a whole bunch to better my photography, but it is hopefully going to teach me how to run a business, communicate with clients, meet people who are going to be working in the same field as myself and i'll spend 2 years working with a photographer.
i know that i would probably be able to do this without spending almost 5 years there, but it's impossible to get a job so i might as well do this.
I'll make sure to ask my teacher to show his portfolio to me though.
why not go out and take photos
cause i'm on jobseekers, which requires me to report into an office an hour away from home 5 days a week doing fuck-all. this takes away a bunch of the time i would normally be taking photos., so this is an alternative.
plus, i don't know what the fuck i should do, other than photography, to earn money. even getting a shit tier job at the local walmart isn't a very easy thing to do.
fair enough then
going to film school was a bit of a mistake for me but meh
I hate uni dude, it's so boring. The only reason I'm sticking through it is that it will give me a ton of knowledge on how to network and sort myself out with a decent career. I'm learning about things I didn't even know existed and been given access to resources I could never hope to have on my own.
School is good and worth it trust me
School is good and worth it trust me
i can't get myself to even apply to normal uni or whatever, i just can't stand school.
i've actively been trying to avoid it since first grade.
I felt like my art foundation year was a waste of time but in retrospect, it gave me more time to get my life together. Even if I didn't take anything away from it especially, I needed that time and something to keep me ticking over.
why not go out and take photos
College degree
And I'm taking photography in college right now and I'm learning stuff all the time. Last year I didn't know how to develop film, and now I'm toning fiber paper for assignments. It's fun.
What i'm afraid of is that I go and take classes in photography and maybe get a degree, take it as a career then I just don't get anywhere with it even if I did turn out to be a good photographer. In turn, living with my parents and probably working a minimum wage job for the rest of my life.
Go get another job. Having a successful career isn't just a degree, it's job experience too. I need to start looking for photographers who need assistants.
Konica C35 arrived. Looked great, cracked open the back, light seals had seen better days but could be worse, closed back, turned it back over and some debris had appeared in the lens.
Think it might be between a couple of elements as well goddamn it. Can't tell because it also happens to be one of the many C35 Automatic models that has a broken bulb mode.
I have to say while i find my foundation degree hugely boring when i'm sitting there in the room, I've created bodies of work that i'm really proud of and realised how much i want to further my knowledge of photography while at the same time networking myself out and creating contacts. so in that respect its been pretty much worth it.
Just started using instagram again properly just wondered if anybody else used it?
