I saw this shot on tumblr, and i had this feeling straight away that it looked like it was a screenshot from a film. Then i tried to see it as a picture, but it feels quite filmlike, and i cant really put my finger on why. I mean it could easily be an authentic moment, i can't tell if its their expressions or just the lenses and grade. I'm aware of the film its from, but can anyone else pin down what separates it from looking like a still rather than from a movie.
it's from Stand by Me
Looks out of context
My 2nd favourite film

Simultaneously they are both very animated. They also have a child-actor look to them. They look very American middle class, too young to be holding a real enough looking gun, and wearing an 'adventure bag'. We don't really have any "cities of God" in white-suburban-America. That's not to say that moments like this couldn't, or haven't happened, it's just a bit extraordinary. Even if it were real, I think those characteristics would still make it very cinematic. There just isn't much other real-world context your brain's first impression could put this in other than it being it from a film.
it would be a strange expression to capture as a photo? also the slight motion blur on the gun, the grade is very cinema and less photo, but i can't think of much else. [editline]12th December 2014[/editline] gonna see if i can borrow a backpack and sneak my camera in to work. this is defo the time for mirrorless cameras and pancakes

Had a good night last night, ended up getting really drunk (surprise), shouting at a load of people and being really rude to everyone, made a huge dick of myself now to start writing apologetic messages to everyone

I've got 10 rolls of slide film with 36 shots each, thinking about having my 365 next year be a shot a day on slide film. Good idea or bad idea, what are thoughts
I've got 10 rolls of slide film with 36 shots each, thinking about having my 365 next year be a shot a day on slide film. Good idea or bad idea, what are thoughts
would be pretty cool to see a film only 365, has anyone on here ever actually finished a 365 though? So many get started and so little are ever finished Also in my defense (so to speak) of my excessive drinking habits, it's a lot harder to stay sober when there's pretty much unlimited alcohol every night which is always free, and more often than not almost forced upon you as a method of payment ontop of money. Obviously that's no excuse but I just want to clarify it's not like I'm blowing loads of money on all these drinks every night [editline]15th December 2014[/editline] infact thinking about that, the amount of money I must have saved must be monumental. If you think the average person spends £20-60 on drinks on a night out, and I've not spent anything almost every night for months now
then again most people don't go out 5 nights a week [editline]15th December 2014[/editline] who needs post merging anyway

Good idea or bad idea, what are thoughts
this is a great idea and I might just do the same. which slide film is it? velvia 50?
Also in my defense (so to speak)
Money should be the least of your problem, it's more about your physical but also mental health that worries most of us here. I'm sure quite a few of us (me included) have had some crazy times with alcohol and done things we will regret untill our death but what worries me is that you systematicly end up blackout drunk and do things you regret. Which to me is a huge red flag that something is not right. If you can not conquer your demons on your own then don't be afraid to ask for help.
i agree man, i know it seems like we're blowing it out of proportion but this seriously cannot be fucking good for your body and it will take its toll
I actually drink a lot less and less often than I used to 2-3 months ago, just the doing/saying of dumb stuff has increased which is interesting
the film is Provia 100f, which I could get by in AZ with because of the brightness here. I'm on my way to finishing my current 365, haven't missed a day yet but it has been pretty underwhelming as of late
My dad did a 365 a couple of years ago. He could dedicate a fair bit of time to it but there were still days where his photo was of something that was just lying around the house.
I feel those things wher u aim for like 3 sick shots a week or whatever is better than a 365 cos ull probs take as many photos but u only have to get 3 sick ones or w/e

how about a colossal photo of a burger where you can see the individual cells on the skin of the onion at 100% zoom
Kinda wanna see the uncompressed version
