Lots of bullshit all over my desk, I really need to clear shit out.
In other news: I bought my cousin everything he'd need to develop black and white stuff and some HP5+ because he's just recently picked up film. Can't wait to see what he does with it.

Used Fujifilm X20.
You'll struggle to find a DSLR and lens combo which outperforms high end compacts for that price, used or new.

Thank you
Damn, the new fuji xt1 update rules. no more mechanical shutter

Try looking at some older micro four thirds cameras, like the Panasonic GX1, you'll get great quality images from that too.
for about every 1000 raws I get one or two that I can't import into Lightroom - it comes up with this error

They open fine in camera raw, and the thumbnail of the image is fine, but they refuse to be imported into lightroom. This has only started happening in the last 4 weeks or so, but now I've got a collection of about 60 raws that have this problem. Any ideas what this might be?
is this only lightroom or also photoshop?? has converting them to a .dng file and then opening worked?

Fujifilm face detection works on my cat :v: I guess it must detect eyes.
Another weird problem I've been having
On images which are fairly noisy, the black levels seems much brighter when exported than they appear in lightroom:

comparing the overall contrast and shadows it's pretty different. Only getting this on about 4000ISO + images though
exporting as srgb, not sure what else could be causing it?
How are you converting from the raw output color space (whatever you're using) to sRGB, what settings?
When converting to sRGB, use "absolute colorimetric" intent in the settings.

Dunno where the option for this is in Lightroom, googled it and nothing came up, the only options I get when exporting from raw are sRGB, AdobeRGB and ProPhotoRGB
Hmmm, it was just an idea, since I had a similar issue.
I guess LR doesn't pick a color profile until exporting.
It's windows photo viewer's fault. View the photo in fullscreen slideshow mode and it'll look fine
A little story here and some praise for Amazon:
When I bought my current body, it was $598. Within 2 months they dropped the price to like $448 or whatever it is now, so last night I emailed them asking if there was anything they could do for me. I was hoping for a small gift card, if anything. By the time I woke up this morning, I had an email saying they were going to refund me the full difference.
So the moral of the story is if you're not buying local make your big electronics purchases through Amazon and always ask for a price match.
Amazon are well known for having pretty awesome customer service, will often refund or replace items for any reason whatsoever from what I've heard, even when the items are out of return and/or warranty periods
i love Amazon, very cool company and the prices are great. They get lots of my business
