Just got a Nikon D70 for free from my uncle, least i finally have a backup if my D80 dies, considering its past its rated shutter life expectancy.
Ill also be uploading photos when I get back to the U.S, spent a week in Japan, and now staying in the Philippines. I get back 2 days from the start of school, so I might not edit through the photos as fast as I'd like, heh.

Scanning pics still confuses me. Are you guys scanning your negatives?

I actually burn my undeveloped film through an atomic absorption spectrometer against a lamp filled with developing chemicals and without a monochromator. The resulting graph drawn from the absorption spectrum gives me a breakdown of the chemical composition of the film which can then be converted into an image with a theoretically infinite resolution.
Joke's on you, your absorbtion spectrometer will get all kinds of interference and I really don't see how you're gonna get any decent spectral resolution without a monochromator, have fun seeing the water vapor in the air and the fat from your fingerprints!
Oh and lets not forget that you'd have to vaporize your undeveloped film first.

i just feed the film into my CD drive, most of the times the photos appear in the My Pictures folder sometime afterwards
I tried that but I can't sleep at night with all those chewing noises from my PC, I tried to talk him out of that but he says "he can't help it" and that "green electricity is just not the same" and that he "needs his nutrients".

instead of me being a fanny
yes you scan negatives.
I know but are you guys scanning the developed pictures with a normal flatbed or are you scanning the negatives wih a negative scanner?
He just said he is scanning the negatives, so yes scanning the negatives with a negative scanner. Many flatbeds (e.g. Epson V series) double as negative scanners once you take the reflective backing off.
wow shut up nerdes

i use a kodak easyshare to scan my negs
I know but are you guys scanning the developed pictures with a normal flatbed or are you scanning the negatives wih a negative scanner?
i've got an epson v500

it comes with a plastic holder for film, and the thing in the lid is a light that follows the sensor and shines through the film (there's also a big white thing that you can put on which covers this part for when you want to scan paper etc)
so to answer your question about whether we're using a flatbed or a negative scanner: yes
Can we talk about our settings when scanning
I don't like mine my 35's come out not sharp I can't tell if its crap film or bad scanning technique
I mean my prints look nice and crisp but my scans don't

i thought all of my 35mm stuff was a bit out of focus when scanned, then i scanned some photos taken with a different camera and realised my main camera's lenses aren't as sharp as i thought they were :(
So, Friday and Saturday, I've voluntered to help with the Photography at an event we put on at the Woodward Dream Cruise here in Detroit. Friday I have to shoot from 6am to 4:30-5pm, and then Saturday from 6:00am all the way to 9-10pm...
Im looking forward to the shooting itself, but not to the Post Production side D:

I've used all my lenses on digital though and they are fine there
I really just think I suck at scanning because my 4x6 prints I get look much sharper.
I think I scan my 35mm's at 2700dpi, use low USM, and ICE
you could try paper shims under the film holder maybe, see if that changes anything
i scan at 3200dpi with low USM and ICE off
all my lenses that i can fit onto my digital seemed fine as well; the sharpest photos when it came to film scans turned out to be anything that came out of my olympus mju-ii

man i really want to get an XA
K ill try and do some scans and make comparisons, hope they turn out a bit better. I'll shoot my ektar soon and hopefully that will be better

why no ice?
why no ice?
too cold 4 me
why no ice?
I don't use ICE either. I find that it screws up my highlights like it cannot detect them correctly. It just looks like a bad photoshop job every time I use it.

My negs are pretty dusty usually, ICE works very well for me as a time saver
Cool.
What subjects were you doing?
B - Art Photography D - Graphic Design and E - Music Tech.
So last night I uploaded some pics I was playing around with. They became my most viewed on flickr in a matter of minutes. The key to success? Tag "pussy". As a scientific test I searched pussy on flickr... Mother forgive me.
Maybe it's time I switch to tumblr...
Just booked a week in Venice with my girlfriend, nice...

It'll be my first time leaving the UK too, damn I'm excited! Expect many film photos when I return!
