You're getting some really heavy sensor overheating in the first image. A lot of times I get stray hot pixels is when my sensor starts to heat up from long exposure. Worst it ever got was after a 20-minute exposure, pixels everywhere.
daytrip to denmark later today, I realized it's like 1 hour of train from me and some friends are in vacation there, short weekend visit I don't speak a single word of danish [editline]30th August 2013[/editline]
sensor issues
You can combat this by doing a shot with the same exposure time while having your lens cap on AFTER you took the shot, if you take it before your sensor is gonna be cold and the heated when you take your real shot. Then you calculate it out of the picture in photoshop. I don't know where you live but it's very noticable that in winter this is much less of a problem.
try doing it with liveview off (if that's possible) so your sensor doesn't heat up so much, or take a dark frame - with the lens covered up - and use photoshop or w/e to subtract the static noise [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] that's what long exposure noise reduction does on canon cameras, so try enabling that
ah nikon has exposure reduction as well. I guess I would have to wait twice as long then
why do people hate ken rockwell with a passion
why do people hate ken rockwell with a passion
He's very inconsistent and has quite close minded opinions.
He's very inconsistent and has quite close minded opinions.
He also has some great knowledge, but it's more difficult to notice unless you really dig for it. I don't read his site often but I've found some very useful information through him. But Sam is still right, some of his opinions totally suck. He seems to think very "pragmatically", though sometimes too much so. Like giving clients photos on a CD instead of charging for prints seems like good advice (less margin of error, move on to next assignment), but saying shooting film instead of digital because scans from Cosco look way better than any digital camera is not good advice That said his medium and large format info is very nice and useful.
ah nikon has exposure reduction as well. I guess I would have to wait twice as long then
you don't have to do out for every shot, the hot pixels should pretty much stay in the same place, the canon long exposure horse reduction thing only does it every 5-6 shots
still haven't shot anything. On the positive side, since January, I've been trying to shoot at least a 3 second video every day and I just took the Jan-July footage and compiled it together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcVYXIgu9dM 24minutes and not very interesting for you guys, but I enjoy watching it and maybe you want to see inside my life. It was an hour and a half long unedited, but I took out all the talking and all the drug stuff. (I plan on saving all the footage and making 1-3 long parts with everything in that I won't show anyone except close friends and hopefully one day, my kids. Moving out to a dorm tomorrow and I'm super nervous, so I'll probably have even less time to shot new stuff :(
Good luck on the move man!
Thanks. I'm excited to have my own space (with another dude at least) Thankfully my roomate is from the same city as me and is interested in Radio/TV/Film like I am. (May switch my major to business and minor in RTF) Anyway, hopefully I'll find some time to go out and get some content. There have been so many times where I see an amazing picture but don't have my camera with me, and it's so frustrating. Keep up the great work guys, hope to see you soon!

Oh dear, someone I know has begun doing sports photography and they are trying to make money from it by charging to use a photo, and not only do they post all the photos with no watermark or copyright thing on them, all the photos (even broad daylight ones) are so incredibly grainy and shitty looking and ugh its just cringe after cringe. I swear its like she managed to shoot 12,800 ISO in broad daylight @ 1/10th a second shutter speed
Post em and help her

Eyyup lads, back from Venice. Would recommend to anyone - beautiful city. Shot ~2 rolls, they'll be up soon. A mate is also editing loads of short videos I took whilst on my travels - joint videography venture. Good to be home, hope you all didn't miss me too much. Peace xo
philip bloom is overrated
Does that make it less appealing to get in contact with a professional with extensive knowledge about cinematography?
Cinema dude whose opinions are worshipped and taken as objective facts on dpreview and such
i take what he says with a pinch of salt, but he does review and extensively test a lot of digital cinema equipment which we don't really get from other places.
I got accepted as a volunteer bartender at "Pub on the Green", and at the Ceilidh at our local Celtic Festival. Working two days, 4 hours per day. Pretty excited as tickets are normally over $80 for the weekend, and I should be able to get some awesome shots.
Trying to get a job with a senior photographer doing photo edits for her, she sent me some samples to edit and send back, if all goes well I'll get paid to do edits which would be rad. Just need to brush up on skin softening because this girl goes crazy with it I hope I get it, would be a good reference and I could buy some gear hopefully
Me too, I just need to get a hang of skin editing since that's what most of it is. I really hope I get it though my editing skills are pretty good imo
