Finally quit being lazy and filled out a photographer application for my school newspaper. Talked to the photo editor and she showed me all of the equipment they have. Not too bad, I forgot what bodies they use but lenses are a lot nicer than what i have. Couple of 70-200 2.8s, wide angles, and a 300mm. already got my first assignment this friday to shoot swim and dive  Finally getting back into shooting sports again!

So I went to a local art exhibition and about anachronism in modern art and they had, I shit you not, pictures done in Garrys Mod reproduced on canvas, seize maybe 1.5 x 0.7 metres. One of male_07 standing in a doorframe with a light above him and one of the citizens in HL2 cowering in the corner when shortly before the combine burst into the flat in that level where you get saved by Alyx. All that between gigantic resized pictures of old postcards, paintings from 1700s, art sculptures and all kinds of other stuff. Very surreal [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3046933/Bilder/IMG_20131006_152055.jpg[/t]
should tell garry so he can claim some royalties
Who knew that Garry's mod could be used for things other than sex poses

But I mean, all the artist has done is take models, textures, maps, etc all made by someone else and pose a couple of ragdolls. I actually came across some1 playing like that one day, too pussy to get shot.
I still have around 2k pictures to sort and process from the wedding I shot. Ugh.

Ed’s Session Ed began by introducing to us his experience of being a member of another P2P network. When he was young, age 16, he was a member of an online forum connected to a video game. Seven years on, the game itself is obsolete but the forum is thriving with over 14,000 members discussing anything and everything. Ed’s interest, in particular, is photography, and he is now an active member of one such sub-community within the forum. His vignette demonstrated the organic and spontaneous way in which his network developed. From a group of gaming teenagers a mutually enriching, supportive and tangible network of people with a shared interest evolved. In fact, so much so, members have begun to meet-up in person creating transnational projects. P2Ps can, therefore, be hugely fruitful, positive experiences that arise from the most unlikely places and in novel ways. With this in mind, we went upstairs to embark upon an unknown quest. Our challenge was to create complete darkness using copious amounts of tin foil and duck-tape. Here are some words which sprang to mind during the, not so easy, light eliminating process. Team-work / technique / perseverance / intrigue / uncertainty / differentiated roles / competing ideas / complimentary ideas / leadership / defeat / materiality of tools / battle against time and the sun / creativity / expertise In short, the process took much longer than expected. It involved numerous different attempts and finally Ed had to take over and show us the tried and tested technique! All along, we had no idea the purpose of our quest which added to the mystique and intrigue. SOME TIME PASSED…… ;) A pitch-black room + a small hole carved in the foil blinds + a white sheet pinned to the wall = A CAMERA OBSCURER = SUPER COOL!!!! Suddenly the entire room had been transformed into a giant camera. The outside world, reflected through a tiny hole, began bouncing—not only onto the white sheet but—around the surfaces of the room. Sat in the darkness, we were awed by what we saw and discussed some of the following points. An alternative world view / Can it be considered photography if it’s not permanent? / Perspective / Master painters used this method / A representation of reality / Sound-scapes of inside-outside relationships / Spying on the sheep / What is left behind when you take away the ‘normal’ experience of something? / Voyeurism / Akin to fishing – catching the world / Seeing the world as a faded postcard / Plato’s cave – leaving behind your chains / Flattening the world / Seeing this way makes it more interesting than seeing it out there / Familiar yet different / A living photograph / Theatrical / Thoughtfulness in silence and darkness / The different ways you can view the world / Filter / Parts containing the whole (George’s hologram) / A radio receiver from the mind outside to the brain inside / Consciousness – relational feedback / The separation of the consciousness from the corporeal being / A community project using the camera obscurer / Para-cinema during the 70’s – no camera, film, actors but thinking of the sunrise and sunset as the cinema / In conclusion, Ed encouraged us to take stock, to enjoy the silence, to use the environment we’d created as a fulfilling experience to explore new thoughts. The camera obscurer provided us with a living metaphor within which to do this.
Came home from work early the other day, probably a good thing too... One of our older horses (the old cranky bastard basically) had literally just plowed right through a brand new high power electric fence as if it weren't there, sneaked over to the other yard, ripped the rug off the mini horse then smashed the gate and broke HIM free too... so I come home and they're just hanging out by the dam like "Oh hey, what's up?". [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img703/170/z40v.jpg[/t] [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img834/381/g9mq.jpg[/t] And I got a nice surprise... Outside the doors of my cabin there's this passionfruit bush that's taking over a big tree branch there. I was watering the passionfruit when I spotted a birds nest built into it. It's cool because for months every morning the birds all swarm the passionfruit tree and eat all the fruits and flowers, and I guess they decided it's safe enough to build a nest into; [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img407/2403/6ife.jpg[/t] :)
having building works done on my uni to build like 2 extra studio spaces which is cool and all but the water for the film processing sinks is shut off for the next 5 weeks. :(

I'm slowly introducing the girl I've been seeing into photography! Started her off with my Pentax 645 in Auto and had her load the film herself. I'm trying to get her hooked, before I toss her in the deep end and start teaching her the technical stuff. She wants to teach me how to dance!
Just got my midterm assignment. I have to take three pictures based on the word 'stone'.
