So I ended up just taking my D90 and 10-20 and risking it. My metal water bottle got wrecked with dents from falling, but my camera and lens survived without any problems :v:. It was actually the camera that dented the metal. Did get water in the lens again though.
Turns out the screen protector, lens hood, lens cap, and eyepiece surround all got smashed up.
this page is sad and i'm sorry that bad stuff has been happening with everyone :(
God, facebook is corrupting my dad. He uploads a lot (He has accumulated over 2600 uploaded photos in the course of around one year) of dog photos to his facebook account. (mostly of our dogs) He's got so many friends who all compliment him because they think the dogs are cute and his photos are good. A lot of those photos are photos I did, but that's not what's annoying me. He takes the .jpgs from our family's camera and then uses photoshop's auto-contrast and auto-tone function, then oversharpens the pictures and uploads them and he now thinks he's a total pro at editing. He is getting so full of himself and it's kind of annoying. I don't want to start a fight but I hate it when people act like they know everything, but actually they know nothing. Sorry for the rant but I just had to tell someone.
This is a photo forum, not your diary.
This is a photo forum, not your diary.
I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. But I think this is more than a photo forum.
This is a photo forum, not your diary.
this is also the off topic thread, so it is somewhat of the latter as well
This is a photo forum, not your diary.
aww shit really??
Might be getting the drive back.
Might be getting the drive back.
That's good to hear, how did that come up?
This is a photo forum, not your diary.
This is a) The Photo Offtopic Thread and b) what I said was related to photography. Get off your high horse.
This is a) The Photo Offtopic Thread and b) what I said was related to photography. Get off your high horse.
You posted a great big wall of teenage angst that perpetuates the stereotype that photographers are bigoted jerks that can't handle other photographers they deem unworthy having success. You as a poster have been frequently bothering me with your negative and hopeless attitude toward most things on this forum, please lighten up. If I want to read this sort of garbage I know the right blogs to go to.
Salmon you're projecting.
Salmon you're projecting.
Just try and stop me.
Just try and stop me.
we're all friends here man
Unrelated, so on-off-on-topic. I love it when photographers talk about 'making a photo'. Rather than 'taking' one.
Unrelated, so on-off-on-topic. I love it when photographers talk about 'making a photo'. Rather than 'taking' one.
amen sister [editline]19th March 2013[/editline] Separates 'photographer' from 'artist' imo
I take shots with my digital camera and make photographs with my film.
I take shots with my digital camera and make photographs with my film.
I take n' make with both.
I take n' make with both.
As do I. When I do my street or candid stuff, It's definitely 'taking' a photo. I'm 'taking' a scene. Heisting a moment in time from the people involved. Ripping out those millions of factors from the environment and condensing it into a single image. It's sort of like theft in a way. The content and subjects in those types of shots don't have a choice... I take it from them. Making a photograph on the other hand is more planned out maybe? A portrait, or well thought out landscape etc. And definitely shooting on film lends itself to 'making' a photo. You're creating something physical (i.e. the negative) and so it's more of a constructive process. Digital you take the scene and condense it into some binary data which can then be reproduced and multiplied. I don't really know what I'm trying to get at. Nothing really. It's still a photograph either way. And that's something I'm sure we can all appreciate here. Just got home from a bar lock-in. I've got to work in the morning at 6.30am and it's 1.30am now. So I'm going to go pass out on the couch in the kitchen where I've been sleeping for the last few months. I love Sydney. But bloody excited to be going back to London later this year. Marley, let's hit it up. You're always welcome at mine. Big Love to the other Facepunch photographers.
Oh Ed I'm not going to Europe this summer any more :/ but if I ever do I'll be letting you know!
Giving it a whirl, don't know what will come of it
I love seeing this kind of attitude. Keep it up, everyone!
Speaking of which, Steve you should get Instagram.
Tried it, didn't really hold my interest for whatever reason. I'll keep it in mind, though.
I drove from Sacramento, CA to Concord, CA and back today. Saw some things I really wanted to photograph, but the only way I could would be to literally stop my car on an overpass (with no shoulder) and take photos. I have no idea how else to get that good of a vantage point to shoot what I saw.
I'm hoping to drive down to somewhere in Cali, then ride the coast all the way up to Oregon and back to Idaho sometime this summer.
I'm hoping to drive down to somewhere in Cali, then ride the coast all the way up to Oregon and back to Idaho sometime this summer.
You should! Cali and oregon have amazing coastlines. I should really make the effort to get to the coast more often. I live in Sacramento, and it's only like 1.5 hours to the ocean.
Just got elected into the committee of the largest photography society in the UK, to be in charge of events, trips and equipment :v:, I'm pretty excited. Haha, just as I'm selling off some of my camera stuff to break even (or slightly under). It's about the art not the equipment anyway. So finally some long awaited great news.
Do you guys use Lens corrections on your shots?
Do you guys use Lens corrections on your shots?
depends on the shot; if it's supposed to have a lot of straight lines in it then normally yeah never done it on any film stuff though
Do you guys use Lens corrections on your shots?
I don't do the corrections from photoshop, but in my camera they are always on and I shoot raw+jpg If the raw is too distorted and the dynamic range isn't important I will take the jpg file. I find doing it in photoshop to be weird and try to avoid it
