You gotta get in the right state of mind to watch War Photographer. It's not some casual popcorn movie.
Yeah don't worry, I've been in the combat camera unit for some time now.
Thin Red Line is the best filmed war movie around (it is all fictional though). Might not be exactly what you are looking for but no one makes prettier movies than Terrence Mallick
bought my first film slr today for $40 used at my local camera store
Is it really worth it to shoot in raw? I have a d3100 and I shot some raw shots and then messed with them in lightroom, and i didn't feel like it did anything extra for me. Is there something else I should be doing?

You gain a huge amount of latitude in exposure and colour, which can be crucial in saving an important shot which may have been technically miffed.
When I was editing, felt like raw wasn't giving me any more editing power than jpg did.
that's because it's all new to you, have you ever tried to correct lens distortion and chromatic aberration with JPG? in RAW it just takes 2 clicks...
When I was editing, felt like raw wasn't giving me any more editing power than jpg did.
regardless of whether or not it has that extra 'editing power' to you or not, it's just good practice to keep a master in raw, in case you ever feel like archiving or messing with it again later when you've come to see the benefits of raw later on kinda like FLAC. very little people use it for listening, but rather for archiving
I shoot raw+jpg Jpg's for simple stuff if I want to just share it on Facebook, and raws for if I really like it
that's because it's all new to you, have you ever tried to correct lens distortion and chromatic aberration with JPG? in RAW it just takes 2 clicks...
I did try lens correction, and it only really made a difference on a picture of a series of very straight lines. [editline]10th November 2013[/editline] my 35mm sort of bends at the edges, and lightroom flattened them out. I got a 500gb hard drive that has all of my photos on it, from the past five years. I really should invest in a 3tb hard drive, and maybe a bigger sd card, the biggest one i have is 8gb
i've got all my photos on a 320gb drive, i just don't save a lot of them
im real lazy i need to run through my photos and delete the blurry ones
finally putting stuff on cargocollective http://cargocollective.com/glebborshchyev/ i know there's basically fuck all on it just now (will be putting up more sets later on) but, any thoughts? should also perhaps think of a more catchy URL, since my name isn't
i entered some keh photo contest thing, you guys should vote for me if you get the chance! http://woobox.com/ibbk8s/vote/for/1638085 really would help me get a nice a7 kit going which would be good because i'm trying to start up a photo business and website in january
voted! [editline]11th November 2013[/editline] it's kind of bothering me that there's two photos with a buttload of votes, one seemingly because it's overdone HDR, and another is because it's a cat

voted too, annoying they have to make you like the page and allow access to your account
voted! But any and all votes are appreciated, I have a good photo so I hope that helps at least a bit
it's kind of bothering me that there's two photos with a buttload of votes, one seemingly because it's overdone HDR, and another is because it's a cat
it's literally a popularity contest, a camera store hosting a photo contest is never going to be a bastion of fine art.
i'm sure if you submitted that photo a big tumblr with the caption vote for me in the keh contest you'd get a lot more votes [editline]11th November 2013[/editline] wtf is this shit 91 votes!! !!!!

Hey guys, is anyone alright with me using some of their photos on some upcoming talks I'm doing on different kinds of photography? Just give me a green tick if it's okay. I'd love to use pics you guys took rather than grabbing images off random people's flickrs and google images.
what talks are you doing?
