anyone know how to stop landscapes such as this one i tried to take from being exposed like this http://i.imgur.com/pSvh5jm.jpg i did adjust in manual to try and get the metre balanced still turned out like this
1. If you shot in RAW, it looks like it would be in the range of correcting in post. 2. Learn what exposure really means. There are tons of 'spell-it-out-for-you tutorials', do some googling. It will help you to understand how to do what you want to do.
Hey photographers. Can anyone throw some black and white conversion and editing technique tips my way (any editing tips would be great too)? When my new camera arrives I only want to publish pictures if I have them how I want them to look, I don't want to post half-way-there attempts. I want to get some kind of consistency down.
what software are you using?
ACR (but going to start using LR) I'm only using ACR since I've been using Photoshop since version 7 and it comes bundled. Going to switch to 100% LR to make things simpler, it's functionally the same as ACR, just with more organisational and workflow stuff built in.
Use Lightroom, it will make your life 100% easier. And there are high quality 3rd party processing presets you can find that will point you in the right direction, and if you reverse engineer them you can really learn how to tailor things to your individual photos. Even if Lightroom didn't have the powerful 'develop' function, I'd still use it purely for its amazing archival capabilities. It is overtaking photoshop for photographic use more and more each update they roll out.
Yeah, I was just thinking that, which is why I'm going to switch to it. I used to use ACR at home and LR when I was in actual lightrooms.
Scanned 3 rolls of negatives but I forgot to bring them home with me D:
what's that thing called when the bokeh in a picture seems to be swirling around the center [editline]20th November 2013[/editline] the rest of that dude & dudette's photostream owns too http://500px.com/artmax
Radial bokeh.
Radical bokeh
I randomly found a photographer who took exactly the same photo as me, roughly at the same time as well (look at the sky/clouds). him: left, me: right
I like the left one more tbh. [editline]23rd November 2013[/editline] Also, just a thing I'm curious about. Do you guys ever print your pictures?

it is but it's the timing that surprised me. The photos had to be taken just several minutes apart
Do you guys ever print your pictures?
I didn't until I had reliable access to actual 'art printers'. It changes your entire perspective on photography when you have a 100% quality digital c-type of your own photo in your own hands. (better yet, just print yourself in a darkroom) That said, I suggest you visit a major library/bookstore and look at some of the fine art stuff. It's like how people swear by listening to vinyl pressings - sometimes you have to see how the photographer printed their images to truly understand what they intended. I've printed 3 digital BnW at HEMA but the result was too dark even thouh I pumped up the brightness. One of my teachers gave me an address of a good printing store that specializes in printing film and I might end up getting discount.

[editline]23rd November 2013[/editline] Bill Gate is my roommate
Yeah I agree. Pictures look a lot different when printed on a good printer (like an iPF5000), either far worse or far better in most cases. Speaking of prints. [t]http://i.imgur.com/nqTWQVC.jpg[/t]
Biggest reason I haven't gone to slot canyon (it's like a 2hr drive from me) Like idk why people would even photograph that lake at all at this point it's been done to death
that feeling when you've traipsed around 2 days in a row, and not gotten a single good picture. Gonna go out each day next week and keep trying.
Just found a 24mm F2.8 Olympus OM Zuiko, gonna see if I can bargain it.
and I want a fisheye for christmas
Holy fuck the new Camera Raw module in PS CC with automatic picture leveling, awesome, I always have problems with leveling, I just don't seem to be capable of seeing whether a picture is leveled or not so this is awesome for me.
great

i wish we were allowed to bring cameras to the plane the plane is a tiny cessna that only has one seat (for the pilot) and fits 6 people total, all crammed against one another; the door is just a big hole in the side that can't be closed. i was the first to go out, so i was sitting right beside the big-hole door and the view was fucking amazing on the way up [editline]24th November 2013[/editline]
Photographer Tapes a $50 Lens To His P&S Camera To Take Stunning Macro Snowflake Photos
that title is silly--there's no way a helios is worth $50 :v:
Grats dude. Skydiving is something I really want to try.
Grats dude. Skydiving is something I really want to try.
would definitely recommend! we did it at strathallan, and i think if you do it through them then what we did costs £160 (one day course, followed by a solo static line jump), then each jump after that is £37. if you do all your static line jumps right, the 6th one can be a free fall all the people who are there are very friendly as well
