It's so frustrating how fast the sun goes down now in winter. Got barely any time to take pictures unless I wake up early.
Sunrise here is about 8:45 am and sunset starts at 2:30pm - it's insane because I'm not even that far north I dont think
Are you north of Edinburgh? Sunrise was 8:28am today and sunset was 3:39pm. Still a depressingly short amount of sunlight. The ultra long summer days make up for this :)
Just saw End of Watch, powerful shit right there.

Ah right. I'm glad we don't live in the far north right now.
i submitted some photos to pdnedu, just cuz why not in other news, im going christmas tree hunting with the fam tomorrow, and it produces some of my fav photos, so i'm definitely going to be double cameraing the event
Just saw End of Watch, powerful shit right there.
Living in LA it's kinda funny.
Ah right. I'm glad we don't live in the far north right now.
Got a coursemate from Iceland who's bricking himself about going home for christmas because he's acclimatised to the north of England now. It's like -5 to -10c there on a good day at this time of year he says!
turns out one of my co-workers is a pro i told him i can be an assistant when he gets his studio its weird because i have so much respect for him now, but we are work peers, and we got to work together every day, i hope i don't blow it and look like an idiot
snicvp
im really not aware to the pro photo world, i asked him if he could give my cargo a critique if he had the time when he gave me his card, he said sure then i went to his website when i got home, i found out that he charges $100 an hour for that :o
charging for CC?? uuhm wow, that's a new one
charging for CC?? uuhm wow, that's a new one
Well if you are a professional your time is worth money.
got two rolls developed! one color from my Contax G1+45mm f2 and one B&W from my A-1 with a 28mm f2.8, 55mm f1.2, 35mm f2, and 20mm f2.8 the contax shots are so damn saturated and good looking compared to my shots from the same type of film on my canon or minolta equipment, i guess lens coatings do quite a bit! it makes gold 200 look like ektar or something nice. going to hopefully do some scans tonight, i've got finals to work on but these things are tempting me
talking to the pro i work with is tough, he has so much great advice but i have to keep working, so i can't really reply or ask questions i just want to be a fucking apprentice or something, damn P.S.: is $7.00 a roll too much for ektar?
It's around 5,20 Euro for us Europeans so that seems like a reasonable price to me.
nice i feel like kodak 200 was about 5 bux not long ago, but now the only cheap film is fuji 200 P.S.: i have a roll of CVS 400 generic film in my minolta right now. it was $7.50 :v:
I have a roll of Efke 50 coming back some time this week (Friends portraits & Landscapes), and I'm getting ready to send a roll of Astia 100F in to get developed (Friends portraits, Hiking, and me falling and getting stuck in a deep hole. Good times!)
P.S.: is $7.00 a roll too much for ektar?
amazon has them for like $5.50 but now they are an add-on purchase unfortunately, but really they are quite a good price for film. compared to Kodak's gold 200 the price is almost the same when you factor in the fact that you get 36 exposures instead of merely 24. it takes 2 ektars to get 72 exposures, and 3 kodak golds, so the price difference is really marginal at around $1 difference (and you get quite a bit of a quality jump). if you want portra film, keh.com sells film now and their prices for individual rolls are pretty good, certainly better than amazon.
whats the difference between ektar, portra, and gold?
Ektar: lowest speed (100), high contrast, high saturation, medium exposure latitude, low grain, pro grade film, green cast in overcast conditions, magnificent in the sun (shadows do get a blue cast, oranges turn out more red). Ektar Example: Portra: range of speeds (160, 400, 800), medium contrast, medium saturation, high exposure latitude, low grain, pro grade film, handles skin beautifully, possibly the best 800 speed film out there, great for general use Portra 400 Example in Overcast Conditions: Portra 400 Example in Sunny Conditions: Portra 800 Example (notably usable in low light gig conditions): Gold: range of speeds (100, 200, 400, 800), consumer grade film, medium contrast, low saturation, shithouse exposure latitude, high grain, works alright in overcast conditions, usable for everyday shooting. Gold example: (dated shot, haven't shot it since 2012) Keep in mind all of the above stated qualities can be modified in post, only the natural qualities of the film have been stated.
fuji 400 has been pretty good to me too ex: for shit tier film, it does pretty good
Does anyone still have that pic on how to edit skin in images that some FPer made a few years ago?
oh yeah, brian posted that, i think bopie has it
i bought a roll of ektar 100 and BW400CN I would have bought xp-2 super, but they only had 120 i hope b&w looks ok (it was fuckin expensive)
oh wait, i have it too [t]http://i.imgur.com/dAP8MHm.jpg[/t]
i made an action that does most of it idk how to share actions though. the only thing i do differently is make a surface blur layer from the base image instead of the high pass layer because it wouldn't work for me. then you adjust the opacity of the surface blur layer to about 55% then erase all the stuff except for the skin.
