All my cameras use SD cards I've only seen a CF card in real life once
i've shot 22 rolls of film in my life
[editline]16th December 2013[/editline]
shot and developed, i should say
I probably could have bought a house with the money I've spent on film.
So I went to Disneyland and I had a chance to bring my Nikon D5100. I started playing with it in 'S' mode and adjusting the shutter-time and the exposure compensation and I think it turned out pretty fine.

I really had no idea what I was doing with exposure and shutter time settings I just played with it throughout the park and took pictures of the sites. I'll probably make a return trip later this week.
that's really over exposed
[editline]16th December 2013[/editline]
don't shoot at 1/4 handheld. bump it back to like 1/40 or something and with a larger aperture and ISO (to an extent, higher ISO means more noise.)
the 5100 should be fine at up to ISO 1600. things start getting noticably noisy at 3200 but is still usable. just experiment with different lighting scenarios because practice is key with exposure

So instead of constantly adjusting the shutter speeds I should have adjusted with the ISO according to how much light there is in the image? Should I bother with the exposure compensation? I had that usually set at +1.0 when it got darker.
experiment with shooting in manual, so you can get to know how all of those things effect each other. it all depends on what you value most in your image (ISO affects noise, aperture affects depth of field and exposure time affects how long the shutter is open.)
shot some photos for my girlfriend's friend's family today, the pictures turned out pretty nice i'll post some soon after i edit them. my girlfriend came with and did all the posing, i don't know shit about posing and i suck at interacting with people but i can take a nice photo or two lol
Dad stepped on my camera bag and broke the mechanism in my metered finder :(
I realized Flickr has batch processing stuff so I added lens tags to all my photos, next year I'm going to start a little gear review site and having a link with non-testy photos is going to be pretty sweet!
oh god exam in 20 minutes

flickr uploadr is my god

btw that website sounds sweet
I followed [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baFBseCxWF0][b]Seth Green's advice on googly eyes[/b][/url] and stuck some on my OM-10.

Let's try this on Canon's curved body, I just have to @_@
[QUOTE=Uber|nooB;43221841]oh god exam in 20 minutes[/QUOTE]
Even though it's already over good luck!
thanks!
totally nailed it
well, except for fucking up conversion between inches and centimetres
[editline]18th December 2013[/editline]
but hey since when did correct unit conversion matter in engineering right
glad to hear it matey

Who the fuck tests for that? Or did you just calculate wrong?
the exam was on continuum solid mechanics and FEA, it was open book as well
in one of the questions a pipe was specified, with the diameter in inches but the wall thickness in mm, and we needed to calculate the stress tensor
i think the lecturer just decided to fuck with anyone who didn't bring a metric/imperial ruler or have a sheet in their notes with unit conversion factors
[editline]18th December 2013[/editline]
problem is that the type of analysis depends on the ratio of the diameter to the wall thickness (if it's less than 10 the pipe is considered thick-walled and the tensor is calculated in one way, and if it's >10 then it's thin-walled and the calculation is different), but thank fuck mine was in the right ballpark so i used the correct method
That is just so unnecessary.

Studying engineering is like one long horror story and art students being like "lol what's the big deal" cus they don't get it.
Engineering is like color grading except I'd still rather be in jail
[QUOTE=Trogdon;43226431]Engineering is like color grading except I'd still rather be in jail[/QUOTE]
why do you hate it so much?
Maybe I just love prison
if you go to american prison, its basically free sex
hmm
[editline]18th December 2013[/editline]
r u sure
4 sure, i read it online
how could the internet be wrong

Can't all study art I mean it's fine and dandy studying it(I couldn't do it) and people like I think Bopie and others sure have a great future with it but I know so many stupid art/philosophy/language students who can basically do NOTHING at all after they finished university I mean I'm sorry dudes but someone gotta build and research your fancy Apple products.
Tbh I've seen plenty of people in my classes who seem to have gotten this far by some sort of miracle. And engineering students who don't know their shit scare me way more than art students who don't know their shit, simply because there's the small chance that someday they might end up in charge of something safety critical (but hopefully potential employers will realise not to hire them before this happens)
about to turn in the last assignment of my undergraduate career, then i graduate tomorrow at 3
this is crazy dudes
I got my final high school results today, with a score that guarantees me entry into Electronic Engineering at the best university in the state for it. Super stoked.
Congrats you guys.
