people who freak out at images over 800 ISO because they are "way too noisy"
These kind of photographers are funny 'eww ur photo has noise its bad!!' *shows image of badly composed photo with boring PP* but hey theres no noise man so it must be a good photo!!
[editline]28th December 2013[/editline]
Not that I'm looking down on those kind of photographers, it's just a rookie phase everyone goes trough. It took me a year or 2 shooting DSLR to realize grains aren't that bad and can be reduced with proper PP
found a box of used kodacolor 200 in my attic, half of me wants to get it developed and the other half is terrified of what pictures are going to be on it :pwn:

Well, I was going to say 'don't be fucking ridiculous', but I am actually in serious and genuine need of an external hard drive so I can back up and archive my photos.
I think it's the only block I have in my mind that's preventing me from posting the ridiculous amount of content I'm sitting on.
I'm astounded by both the generosity and community of this place.
Lets start a fund for you

The last time I shot expired film I got blue negatives with barely anything on them.
This is what I managed to get out of them

This is actually an incredibly intriguing photograph to me.
So ephemeral and spooky.
Just like how deer are often seen in real life.

they were in a little sealable lunchbox thing in a relatively cold part of the attic, so i dunno how bad the condition would be
that picture is pretty cool though

Anyone have any favorite tumblrs they'd like to share? Even if they're just dumps and reblogs of good photographs.

no reblogs, 100% cool
Flickr seems to be editing my photo... It's like it pulls my contrast right the way down and the image looks totally different to what's in my software.
could be a color space issue.. I had some problems with that (page 40 & 41 of this thread)
i thought flickr automatically does some "minor" sharpness and contrast adjustments to each photo uploaded

Only in the downscaled versions of the images. (and for the better, really)
The full images remain untouched.
Here's how it looks after my PP:

Here's after Flickr butchers it:

Looks like flickr oversharpened it.

Sorry for so many inquisitive posts recently. Looking for somewhere to put a more organised portfolio other than Flickr but don't really want to rake out any costs just yet but also don't want that limiting myself.
Any recommendations?
TL;DR - Is there a portfolio site where you can have nice portfolios with no limit on photos ETC.
cargocollective

not sure about photo limits but a lot of us use it

It has a 100mb limit for free accounts, I save mine 2000px long and 70% jpg quality
I've also seen a lot of nice stuff on behance, but its for all types of creative work and is altogether less exclusive than cargo collective. Additionally, the template profiles are simply gaudy and I don't know if you can do much customization.
On that note, I just got accepted to cargo and even though I haven't started working on it yet its super exciting. :v:

i think it's a colour space/profile issue. what are you using for editing and what settings are you saving with?
i had this problem when i was editing 16-bit grayscale tiffs, then exporting as a jpeg with an embedded icc profile
flickr took the icc profile into account when i uploaded the photos, and basically i ended up with the shadows being brought up a bit unexpectedly
if you're in photoshop, the easiest way to make sure that what you get in flickr is the same as what you see would be to disable proof colours, flatten the image once you're done doing editing, make sure it's 8-bit colour and save as a jpeg without an embedded colour profile, that way flickr assumes it's standard (though it's also a big fuck you to colour management in general, but that doesn't matter if your photo only really exists on the internet)
I've found http://film-photography.tumblr.com/ to reblog some nice stuff

Hey I'm at Heathrow.
Time for the long tube ride to zone 1.
gonna hit the torchlight procession tonight with a roll of agfa and my dslr
Does anyone here use a windows alternative program to lightroom. I use lightroom and love it myself but I wanted to know is there really any proper competition for it?

Shoulda let me know man. I would have travelled into zone 1 to grab a beer with ya.

aftershot pro? even then it's not really as good as lightroom
getting annoyed at the fact i have so much work that I just can't even seem to make dents into for uni, has really put a dampener on being home for christmas/christmas in general because most of my time has been spent at my dining table on my laptop trying to work whilst ignoring my family.
so apparently there are a bunch of obvious dust spots all over my sensor
:c
talking to nikon support right now
